I think most of the people who post and read here know about American Imperialism but here's some stuff that shows the details.  It's also good info to show to people who are new to the issue.

Here are some books.

'Our tolerance has limits!' Expel US envoy for acting like 'occupation commissioner', says German MP
http://www.rt.com/news/454201-germany-us-ambassador-non-grata/

'Berlin seems to be losing patience with the US ambassador who didn't mince his words over German defense spending. A high-ranking MP demanded that the envoy be sent home because he acts "like an occupation commissioner."

Wolfgang Kubicki, vice speaker of the German parliament, called for Richard Grenell to be declared persona non grata immediately, local media reported. The emotive remark wasn't limited to what Berlin should do in relation to the American ambassador.

"If a US diplomat acts like a high commissioner of an occupying power, he will have to learn that our tolerance has its limits," Kubicki said angrily. Grenell had crossed the line again and interfered "in political affairs of the sovereign Federal Republic," the senior MP argued. Earlier, the official Twitter account of the US embassy in Berlin quoted Grenell as saying: "Reducing its already unacceptable commitments to military readiness is a worrisome signal to Germany's 28 NATO allies."

Grenell was sworn in as US ambassador to Germany back in May 2018, after being considered for the posts of the ambassador to NATO and the UN. He ignited a scandal within hours of taking office in Berlin when he demanded that German companies doing business in Iran should "wind down operations immediately."

Throughout 2018, Grenell hit a nerve with German politicians on numerous occasions, including his threat to sanction local firms taking part in Russia's Nord Stream 2 pipeline project, a demand to break trade ties with Iran, and an appeal to help Washington put pressure on Moscow.

In May of the same year, he got some telling advice from Wolfgang Ischinger, a retired German envoy to the US. "My advice, after a long ambassadorial career: explain your own country's policies, and lobby the host country," the diplomat tweeted, adding: "But never tell the host country what to do, if you want to stay out of trouble."'

Empire of Absurdity: Recycled Neocons, Recycled Enemies
http://original.antiwar.com/Danny_Sjursen/2019/03/18/empire-of-absurdity-recycled-neocons-recycled-enemies/

'There are times when I wish that the United States would just drop the charade and declare itself a global empire. As a veteran of two imperial wars, a witness to the dark underside of America's empire-denial, I've grown tired of the equivocation and denials from senior policymakers. The U.S. can't be an empire, we're told, because – unlike the Brits and Romans – America doesn't annex territories outright, and our school children don't color its colonies in red-white-and-blue on cute educational maps.

But this distinction, at root, is rather superficial. Conquest, colonization, and annexation are so 19th century – Washington has moved beyond the overt and engages in the (not-so) subtle modern form of imperialism. America's empire over the last two decades – under Democrats and Republicans – has used a range of tools: economic, military, political, to topple regimes, instigate coups, and starve "enemy" civilians. Heck, it didn't even start with 9/11 – bullying foreigners and overturning uncooperative regimes is as American as apple pie. Still, observing post-9/11, post-Iraq/Afghanistan defeat, Washington play imperialism these days is tragicomically absurd. The emperor has no clothes, folks. Sure, America (for a few more fleeting years) boasts the world's dominant economy, sure its dotted the globe with a few hundred military bases, and sure it's military still outspends the next seven competitors combined. Nonetheless, what's remarkable, what constitutes the real story of 2019, is this: the US empire can't seem to accomplish anything anymore, can't seem to bend anybody to its will. It's almost sad to watch. America, the big-hulking has-been on the block, still struts its stuff, but most of the world simply ignores it.

Make no mistake, Washington isn't done trying; it's happy to keep throwing good money (and blood) at bad: to the tune of a cool $6 trillion, 7,000 troop deaths, and 500,000 foreign deaths – including maybe 240,000 civilians. But what's it all been for? The world is no safer, global terror attacks have only increased, and Uncle Sam just can't seem to achieve any of its preferred policy goals.'

The media is very proficient in spinning the big lie that The Allies never ever commit war crimes, to the extent anyone questioning the narrative is clearly insane.

The level of military worship is at insanity levels here in the states. It's bad enough that hearing, "Thank you for your service," one more time probably makes any veteran, who's not a psychopath, grimace a bit on the inside. I never give any veteran any sort of special consideration on purpose and you know what's funny? They actually open up to me most times. Any of them with a brain know it's all bullshit. That's what bugs them the most now. They have scars mentally and physically and dead brothers for people who hate them. Then they have to come home and hear how they fight for our freedoms over and over again. A relentless pouring of undeserved gratitude. Some use it to gain over and manipulate others. They are the worst. But even worse than them are the stolen valor types.

I actually had an experience a few months ago with an extreme case of one of those. Guy was a total fraud. I couldn't believe I was sitting across the card table from this guy. If you want the whole story, PM me; I'll tell that story for the rest of my life. We almost got into a fight. This guy had no clue what kind of people he was around.  ;D I went to some veterans with the story and they all said he was an obvious case of stolen valor. Anyway, the major point of the story is, those who actually end up fighting tend to become humble about it. From the image given off in the MSM, they'd have you think differently. An uncle of mine got caught up in the Tet Offensive. He didn't talk about it for 40 years and only opened up to his wife and a couple of others towards the end of his life. Even though I always wanted to know his story, I never asked him and don't regret not asking.

But the machine marches on. "America is a killing name. It doesn't feel or discriminate!"

Poseidonlost, thank you for honesty. We will not hear your opinion on MSM or in Hollywood. Citizens of USA are manipulated by MSM and are grateful to veterans.

In my small country Serbia, everything is the opposite. After the wars, The rulers of the Republic (except  from the Yugoslav communist dictator Tito *), the veterans for courage become casual poor or even wound up (wars in 90s) or maybe be arrested for "war crimes".

* Tito's fear forced the people of Yugoslavia to respect his communist officers and the soldiers they received privileges even though they were "bloody hands" in WW2.

Yea, I mean I'm not saying the veterans should be forgotten or that veteran organizations shouldn't exist, but watch TV here for 30 minutes and you'd think veterans are the true arbitors of justice and freedom and you're only a real American if you joined the military.

And you know what? Your situation is what happens in real wars. Unfortunately NATO stepped in, which exacerbated your problem. It's the same that happened in our wars over here previous to WW2. The complete global level victory and eventual economic boost of that war started the situation the US is in now.

By the way, how can I find that Tito Al Capone song? What's the name of it? I couldn't find it last I checked. Loved it haha  ;D

I remember the worship since the first invasion of Iraq in 1990, but after 9/11 it reached deity level.

That worship also now extends to law enforcement officers.   From the same crowd that have "come and take it" stickers on their vehicles.

Fomer NATO Senior Military Commander in Europe Philip Breedlove, speaking at an online roundtable organized by the Croatian agency , HINAexpressed his belief that 2021 would be a year of growing conflict between the West and Russia over the future of the Western Balkans.

He believes the new -but old- geopolitical battlefield will be Southeast Europe, highlighting in particular the cases of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"This year will be tainted by the escalation of conflicts between the West and Russia over the future of Southeast Europe, but the new US administration has re-established the US focus in this area after more than 10 years of withdrawal," Breedlove said.

He also argued that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in his "political pilgrimage" late last year, targeted two countries that "allow Moscow to continue its regional policy of divide and conquer; Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia."

"Moscow will continue to strongly oppose BiH's progress towards the European Union, and Serbia will implement its plan for Kosovo, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina," said Breedlove, a European security expert.

He also referred to Serbia's military support, adding that NATO should be more open to what is happening in the Balkans.

"Part of comprehending the problem is recognizing it and categorizing it. I think it would be very useful for the NATO leadership to more immediately address these concerns and respond with diplomatic and political work in the region."

Philip Breedlove, who described the new US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin as a "good friend", has collaborated numerous times with US President Joe Biden over the past year, both as a senator and later as vice president.

The good news is, he said, that the new US administration has clearly redirected towards NATO and Southeast Europe.

"The new president will return America to Europe so that it can once again be part of the leadership there, after 12 years of American withdrawal from the Old Continent," he said.

Breedlove points out that he "refuses to become a politician" because he enjoys the trust of both political parties in Washington, "thus he would not want to alienate half of the public." Nonetheless, he said the people appointed by the Biden government are committed to NATO and familiar with the geopolitical context of Europe and the Western Balkans.

"I think you will see the right kind of attention from the US," he said.

Speaking about the idea of creating a common European army, which gained ground in Europe after former US President Donald Trump chose a "colder" attitude towards NATO and the partnership with Europe, Breedlove pointed out that anything the European Union countries do for their military also benefits NATO, since most countries are members of both alliances.

"What is not good is when a country invests in the capabilities that NATO already has," he said.

He added that the enemies of the North Atlantic Alliance are trying hard to influence Western public opinion, adding that NATO has not yet found an answer in the information battle in this "gray zone", but is an increasingly common issue within the Alliance. /ibna
