Syrian air defenses repel missile strike against Shayrat air base in Homs province – state media
http://www.rt.com/news/424333-syria-missiles-defense-homs/

'Syrian air defense systems have been activated in response to a missile attack targeting Shayrat Airbase in Homs province, and, according to state media, managed to take down all the incoming projectiles.

Up to 10 missiles were destroyed by the Syrian Armed Forces, a military source told Sputnik. The Syrian air defenses managed to intercept some of the projectiles, according to a SANA reporter. Meanwhile, the Al Mayadeen news outlet is claiming that all the projectiles were intercepted and inflicted no physical damage or casualties at the targeted Syrian base. Spam_A Spam_B The Pentagon has denied initiating strikes or conducting any other military activity in Homs province. “There is no US military activity in that area at this time,” the Pentagon’s spokesperson told Reuters. The same information was also shared with TASS news agency by Pentagon spokesman Eric Pahon.

The raid in Homs countryside reportedly coincided with another missile attack against a military airbase near Damascus. According to various Arabic media channels, three missiles targeted Al Dumayr airport, but they were all allegedly downed by the Syrian air defenses.

According to yet unconfirmed reports, the missiles entered Syrian airspace from Lebanon, which may indicate that the Israeli Air Force could have been involved, Al-Masdar News reports, citing a military source. The outlet’s reporter also published several videos allegedly showing the launch of interceptor missiles.

Israel, which hardly ever acknowledges its raids inside Syria, failed to comment on its alleged involvement. “We don’t comment on such reports,” an Israeli military spokesman told Reuters. The US Department of Defense spokesman, meanwhile, told Sky News Arabia that there are “a lot of players” in the region who could have carried out the Tuesday morning attack in Syria.'

Russia Accuses UK Security Services of Staging Chemical Attack in Syria - OPCW Envoy
http://sputniknews.com/military/201804121063460158-british-forces-syria-ghouta/

'The Russian Envoy to OPCW said that chemical weapons provocation in Syria was carried out by non-governmental organizations that the UK and the US paid for cooperation.

According to Shulgin, Russia has irrefutable evidence that there was no chemical weapons incident in the Syrian city of Douma.

Quote
"Therefore, we have not just a "high degree of confidence," as our Western partners claim, but we have incontrovertible evidence that there was no incident on April 7 in Douma and that all this was a planned provocation by the British intelligence services, probably, with the participation of their senior allies from Washington with the aim of misleading the international community and justifying aggression against Syria," The Russian Envoy to OPCW stated speaking to the OPCW Executive Council.

According to the Russian Envoy to the OPCW, the direct executors of this provocation were pseudo-humanitarian NGOs sponsored by opponents of the Syrian government. Spam_A Spam_B

Quote
"Among them, are the notorious 'White Helmets,' which some delegations are so fond of praising," Shulgin noted.

He stressed that Moscow has already stated and confirms yet again that "these structures on a fee-based basis cooperate with the governments of the United States, the UK and some other countries."

Russian experts who conducted the verification of reports on the use of chemical weapons in the Syrian city of Douma, found participants of the video’s filming, which was presented as evidence of the supposedly occurring chemotherapy, according to the Russian Envoy to the OPCW.

Quote
"Not a single witness, not one poisoned person in the hospital could be found. No remains of chemical weapons were found. But we have managed to find direct participants in the filming of the production video, which was presented as ‘proof’ of the chemical attack," Shulgin said.

He also called attention to the fact that Eastern Ghouta was already practically liberated, at that moment and an agreement had been reached with the last groups of militants in Douma; that they had been provided with a secure humanitarian corridor for the departure to Idlib province for both themselves and their families.'

According to a report by Al-Mayadeen news channel cited by Fars News, a number of British troops have been captured during the Syrian Arab Army's operations in Eastern Ghouta.

They are believed to be a part of international military forces deployed in the region to launch a ground assault in Damascus in cooperation with the US. According to the report, the US and other NATO countries, Jordan and Israel planned to launch attacks from several fronts, but the plot failed as Syrian armed forces made a series of rapid advances in Eastern Ghouta in March. The plot allegedly involved massive airstrikes by US and Israeli planes that were supposed to pave the way for ground forces.

Quote
"After the plot was disclosed, the Syrian-Russian military commanders started operations in Eastern Ghouta to repel it," the sources cited by Al-Mayadeen and Fars said.

Since the plot failed due to rapid advances by the Syrian army, the US cancelled all operations planned for these foreign forces and ordered an immediate withdrawal from Eastern Ghouta through the eastern suburbs of Damascus, including Douma.

‘UK government can’t demonstrate convincing evidence’ – Labour’s Chakrabarti questions Syria strikes
http://www.rt.com/uk/424257-chakrabarti-syria-war-airstrikes/

'Labour Shadow Attorney General Shami Chakrabarti says Theresa May was wrong to launch military intervention in Syria, rejecting the government’s argument that the airstrikes were legally justified on humanitarian grounds.

In an interview with BBC Radio 4’s Today program, Chakrabarti said that the government’s arguments for the legal justification for airstrikes carried out in the early hours of Saturday did not pass “the tests it set for itself.”

"You can’t use force under international law just to punish Syria for bad behavior,” Chakrabarti said. “You have to actually be using urgent, necessary and proportionate force. And you have to do it with the will of the world behind you.” Spam_A Spam_B Chakrabarti added that “the government has not passed the tests it set for itself. I don’t think that the government can demonstrate convincing evidence, and a general acceptance by the international community that they had to act in the way they did a few days ago."

Chakrabarti on the Today program said that she has found it hard to understand how there was “no practical alternative to this particular strike,” especially “when the chemical weapons inspectors were on their way in."

Inspectors from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) were expected to begin investigations into the alleged chemical weapons attack on Saturday, hours after joint military action had been conducted.'

A Furtive Glance at the US’s Ongoing War Preparations Against Russia
http://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2018/04/24/furtive-glance-at-us-ongoing-war-preparations-against-russia.html

'While the world's attention is riveted on Syria, the US is significantly boosting its forces in Europe. And these are not just divisions streaming in to take part in some exercises that will leave once those are over. This is a serious buildup to create a potentially offensive posture. The beefing up of the US forces is taking place amid <a href="https://www.voanews.com/a/russia-putin-ready-to-meet-trump/4357846.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-cke-saved-href="https://www.voanews.com/a/russia-putin-ready-to-meet-trump/4357846.html">preparations for a Russia-US summit. That’s a rather peculiar background for the event, to put it mildly!

The 4th Combat Aviation Brigade and the 4th Infantry Division <a href="https://www.army.mil/article/203758/department_of_the_army_announces_upcoming_4th_combat_aviation_brigade_4th_id_deployment" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-cke-saved-href="https://www.army.mil/article/203758/department_of_the_army_announces_upcoming_4th_combat_aviation_brigade_4th_id_deployment">will deploy to Europe as part of its Operation Atlantic Resolve. Based in Germany, the forces will participate in multiple exercises, most of which will be held very near the Russian border in Poland, Hungary, Romania, and the Baltic States. The Army is considering deploying an entire division in a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exercise_Reforger" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-cke-saved-href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exercise_Reforger">Reforger type of exercise, with troops coming over to use the pre-positioned hardware. Those forces could potentially see a surge, with a division-level deployment in late 2018 or 2019. Spam_A Spam_B The plans include the creation of a rear-area operations command to be hosted by Germany. Another command is planned that will ensure mobility in the North Atlantic shipping lanes. A "military Schengen" to allow easy movement across borders <a href="http://www.dw.com/en/eu-outlines-plans-for-military-schengen-zone/a-43171043" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-cke-saved-href="http://www.dw.com/en/eu-outlines-plans-for-military-schengen-zone/a-43171043">is under consideration. NATO is rotating four battalion-size, combat-ready, air-power-supported battle groups throughout Poland — which is hosting 800 American troops — and the Baltic States.

In February, the US Army held the <a href="https://www.military.com/daily-news/2018/03/07/us-allies-conduct-biggest-artillery-event-europe-cold-war.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-cke-saved-href="https://www.military.com/daily-news/2018/03/07/us-allies-conduct-biggest-artillery-event-europe-cold-war.html">largest artillery exercise in Europe since the Cold War. The event was dubbed Dynamic Front 18 and involved seven rocket-launching systems, 94 artillery pieces, including eight German Panzerhaubitze 2000 armored howitzers, 14 British L118 light guns, and 18 US <a href="https://www.military.com/equipment/m777-howitzer" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-cke-saved-href="https://www.military.com/equipment/m777-howitzer">M777 155 mm howitzers.

The US military command is <a href="https://www.defensenews.com/naval/2018/04/20/us-weighs-keeping-carrier-strike-group-in-europe-as-a-check-on-russia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-cke-saved-href="https://www.defensenews.com/naval/2018/04/20/us-weighs-keeping-carrier-strike-group-in-europe-as-a-check-on-russia/">weighing <a href="https://www.defensenews.com/naval/2018/04/20/us-weighs-keeping-carrier-strike-group-in-europe-as-a-check-on-russia/" data-cke-saved-href="https://www.defensenews.com/naval/2018/04/20/us-weighs-keeping-carrier-strike-group-in-europe-as-a-check-on-russia/">the option of keeping the USS Harry S. Truman carrier strike group in the Mediterranean, the European command’s area of responsibility, instead of deploying it to the Middle East, which is under the control of Central Command. The group left Norfolk on April 11. This move would be intended to “check Russia,” freeing other American naval assets to carry out missions in the Baltic and the Black Sea. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told the House Armed Services Committee on April 12 that he was studying the possibility of shaking up his department’s employment of carrier groups. The rotational deployments have been increased from the traditional six to ten months. A large number of US ships are concentrated in the vicinity of Syria.'

Exersice is joint, with China.

I deduced that China and Russia have a secret treaty, so if America attacks either, the other will come to its aid.

Alternative of leaving China and Russia alone, has not been thought of by anyone in Washington, except for by Ron Paul.

Dutch expelled Russians over alleged novichok lab hacking plot
http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/sep/14/dutch-expelled-russians-over-alleged-novichok-laboratory-hacking-plot

'The Dutch government expelled two alleged Russian spies this year after they were accused of planning to hack into a Swiss chemicals laboratory where novichok nerve agent samples from the Salisbury attack were analysed, it has emerged.

The men were arrested in The Hague this spring as part of an operation involving British, Swiss and Dutch intelligence agencies.

The Swiss daily newspaper Tages-Anzeiger reported that the men were carrying equipment that could be used to break into the Spiez laboratory’s IT network when they were seized. Spam_A Spam_B Isabelle Graber, the head of communications at the Swiss intelligence service, the FIS, said in a statement issued to the Guardian: “The Swiss authorities are aware of the case of Russian spies discovered in The Hague and expelled from the same place.

“The Swiss Federal Intelligence Service (FIS) participated actively in this operation together with its Dutch and British partners. The FIS has thus contributed to the prevention of illegal actions against a critical Swiss infrastructure.”

Sergei Skripal, a former Russian military officer and double agent for MI6, and his daughter, Yulia, were poisoned in Salisbury on 4 March.

The Spiez laboratory, near Berne, subsequently confirmed a British claim that the Skripals had been exposed to the military-grade nerve agent novichok. The laboratory has also been investigating poison gas attacks by the Syrian government backed by the Kremlin.'

If you question the government's Skripal narrative in any way you are a Russia troll - truly pathetic BBC
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-45454142

'When the UK authorities announced on Wednesday that they suspected two alleged Russian agents in the poisoning of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury, they released CCTV images of the suspects arriving at Gatwick airport.

Two of the images, framed side by side, began to spread on social media, driven by pro-Russia conspiracy theorists and suspected troll accounts. They showed the alleged agents - Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov - passing through a non-return gate at the airport.

The images had identical timestamps. How could two men be in exactly the same place at the same time, a flood of tweets asked. Spam_A Spam_B Speaking on state TV, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova claimed that either "the date and the exact time were superimposed on the image" or that Russian intelligence officers had "mastered the skill of walking simultaneously".

Her remarks were echoed by pro-Kremlin accounts on Twitter and on the messaging app Telegram, which is popular in Russia. Users suggested the CCTV images had been manipulated. They mocked the British authorities and alleged it was an MI6 operation.

Soon it would not necessarily matter that the background of the CCTV images were not identical; that the camera was at a different angle; that Google Maps shows that the non-return gates at Gatwick are a series of near-identical corridors that the two men could easily have passed down, adjacent to one another, at the same time.'

Lynch Mob Mentality. The Boshirov and Petrov story
http://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2018/09/lynch-mob-mentality/

'I was caught in a twitterstorm of hatred yesterday, much of it led by mainstream media journalists like David Aaronovitch and Dan Hodges, for daring to suggest that the basic elements of Boshirov and Petrov’s story do in fact stack up. What became very plain quite quickly was that none of these people had any grasp of the detail of the suspects’ full twenty minute interview, but had just seen the short clips or quotes as presented by British corporate and state media.

As I explained in my last post, what first gave me some sympathy for the Russians’ story and drew me to look at it closer, was the raft of social media claims that there was no snow in Salisbury that weekend and Stonehenge had not been closed. In fact, Stonehenge was indeed closed on 3 March by heavy snow, as confirmed by English Heritage. So the story that they came to Salisbury on 3 March but could not go to Stonehenge because of heavy snow did stand up, contrary to almost the entire twittersphere. Spam_A Spam_B Once there was some pushback of truth about this on social media, people started triumphantly posting the CCTV images from 4 March to prove that there was no snow lying in Central Salisbury on 4 March. But nobody ever said there was snow on 4 March – in fact Borisov and Petrov specifically stated that they learnt there was a thaw so they went back. However when they got there, they encountered heavy sleet and got drenched through. That accords precisely with the photographic evidence in which they are plainly drenched through.

Another extraordinary meme that causes hilarity on twitter is that Russians might be deterred by snow or cold weather.

Well, Russians are human beings just like us. They cope with cold weather at home because they have the right clothes. Boshirov and Petrov refer continually in the interview to cold, wet feet and again this is borne out by the photographic evidence – they were wearing sneakers unsuitable to the freak weather conditions that were prevalent in Salisbury on 3 and 4 March. They are indeed soaked through in the pictures, just as they said in the interview.

Russians are no more immune to cold and wet than you are.'

Yes, Russia is getting ready for war – in case US attacks, diplomat tells UN
https://www.rt.com/news/442407-russia-war-preparation-inf/

'A Russian diplomat has both confirmed and denied what US war hawks have been calling out. Moscow is indeed preparing for war, he said – just in case the US starts one.

Speaking at the UN on Friday, Andrey Belousov, deputy director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Department of Nonproliferation and Arms Control, said that Russia is indeed readying itself for war, so it can defend its people against American aggression.

Quote
At a recent meeting, the US stated that Russia is preparing for war. Yes, Russia is preparing for war, I can confirm it.

Russia's military build-up and large-scale drills, often painted in the Western media as preparations for all-out war, are a defensive necessity, he said.

Quote
"We are preparing to defend our homeland, our territorial integrity, our principles, our values, our people."

Russia doesn't seek a confrontation, he said, unlike the US. "Why else would the United States pull out of the [INF] Treaty, increase their nuclear potential, adopt a new nuclear doctrine that lowers the threshold for nuclear weapons use – that's the question for us all."

Russia is preparing 'for war,' while the US is preparing 'war.'

Belousov's words came after a Russian draft resolution to reinforce the INF Treaty, which bans intermediate-range nuclear weapons, was overwhelmingly rejected at the UN First Committee. "Most of those who voted against were supporters of the INF Treaty. I don't understand their position," Belousov said. Among those who voted down the draft were the UK, Germany, France, and, of course, the US.

Washington's decision to scrap the Cold War-era agreement alarmed both Europe and Moscow, which warned it would"make the world a more dangerous place" and vowed retaliation.

Washington has accused Russia of building missiles prohibited by the INF, while Moscow argued that American missile defense complexes in Europe can be easily turned into offensive weapons. Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that if the US moves to deploy intermediate-range nuclear missiles in Europe, it will put the whole of Europe at risk of a retaliatory strike.'

What could possibly go wrong? Russia to hold live missile drills outside Norway amid massive NATO drills
http://www.rt.com/news/442665-norway-russia-missile-drills/

'Moscow is to hold missile drills in international waters outside Norway, where NATO is hosting massive war games of its own involving 50,000 troops, making it the largest exercise since the end of the Cold War era.

The Russian military will hold the live missile firing drills on November 1-3, amid the ongoing Trident Juncture 2018 NATO exercise. The war games kicked off last week and will go on until November 7, with over 50,000 personnel, some 10,000 vehicles, 250 aircraft and 65 ships participating.

The naval area Moscow has picked for the missile tests overlaps with the zone where the Trident Juncture participants perform maritime and air operations. The Russians will “operate in the international waters and they have notified us in a normal way,” NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said. Spam_A Spam_B “We were notified last week about the planned Russian missile test outside the coast here,” he said during a press conference on Tuesday. “Russia has significant forces, naval forces in this area, they are regularly exercising their naval capabilities, maritime capabilities off the coast of the Norway.”

The alliance, however, will “monitor [the drills] closely” and expects Russians to “behave in a professional way,” Stoltenberg added.

The chief's assurances were not enough to stop some lesser NATO officials from sounding the alarm. Jedrzej Tomczak, deputy political adviser of the Polish delegation to the alliance, called the missile drills a “deliberate escalation,” while at the same time praising the supposed “defensive” nature of NATO.'

Cuban crisis 2.0? Moscow eyes military bases in Cuba after US INF pullout
http://www.rt.com/news/442726-russia-cuba-bases-inf/

'Moscow’s response to Trump’s plans to quit the INF treaty could be to reinstall military bases in Cuba, the State Duma defense committee head said. He also predicted “a new Cuban crisis” if the US and Russia fail to come to terms.

The US is planning to walk away from the crucial Cold War-era Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty, and Russia’s response may well be in the spirit of those times – namely, reactivating military facilities in Cuba. That is according to Vladimir Shamanov, the head of the State Duma defense committee and a former Airborne Troops commander.

Indeed, the Cuban government has to allow the Russian military back, and this is more about politics than defense issues, Shamanov speculated.

“Assessing this scenario is underway, and [policy] proposals will come next,” he told Russia’s Interfax News Agency without elaborating. Spam_A Spam_B This issue may be raised when Cuba’s new president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, visits Russia in early November. Diaz-Canel, a fresh face of Cuba’s Communist Party, is wary of foreign military presence, but “politics is living matter,” Shamanov said.

“Cuba has its own interests and it was hurt by US sanctions,” he added.

Previously, the retired Airborne General urged Moscow and Washington to come to terms and get back to reconciliation.
“If we don’t stop it now and don’t talk, we actually may create conditions similar to those [which led to the] Cuban crisis,” he was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.'

Did this Russian cause BREXIT, too? Bellingcat names ‘3rd GRU officer’ in Skripal poisoning saga
http://www.rt.com/uk/451501-skripal-bellingcat-suspect-brexit/

'Bellingcat claims that a high-ranking Russian military intel officer named Denis Sergeev was in the UK under the alias of Sergey Fedotov at the time of the poisoning drama in Salisbury – and, “notably,” on eve of the Brexit vote.

The UK-based organization that touts itself as a citizen-journalism outfit published a report on Thursday, saying that Sergeev is the real name of the man who it previously connected to the poisoning of former double agent Sergei Skripal and another poisoning case in Bulgaria.

The report is part of a series in which Bellingcat offers “open source” or leaked data to connect the Salisbury affair with the GRU, the Russian military intelligence agency. The fresh report fails to explain the chain of reasoning that led Bellingcat to believe that Fedotov and Sergeev are the same person, focusing instead on the background of Sergeev and the travel history of Fedotov. However, it promises to publish the evidence later, saying it was obtained despite the Russian government allegedly trying to erase Sergeev’s public record.

Sergeev is said to be an elite graduate of a military diplomatic academy in Moscow. He has a current rank of at least a colonel, and is involved in a string of shady business arrangements, it claims.

Fedotov’s travel records put him in Britain in March 2018, when the poisoning of Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia allegedly occurred. He was supposedly also in Bulgaria in April 2015, when a local arms trader fell ill after another reported poisoning, which Bellingcat implies was an attempted murder by Fedotov.

Bellingcat claimed he made two other trips to London in March and April 2016.

“Notably, or perhaps entirely coincidentally, these two trips were shortly before and after the Brexit referendum,” the website said.

Fedotov is also said to have traveled on one occasion with Aleksandr Petrov, the person earlier accused by the British government of attempting to kill Skripal with a “military-grade” poison. Bellingcat earlier said that Petrov is an alias of Aleksandr Mishkin, a high-ranking doctor working for the GRU.

Since being established by Eliot Higgins in 2014, Bellingcat has become a darling of the mainstream media, which rarely questions the authenticity of its research. Higgins has since become a fellow at the Atlantic Council, and the “researchers” have been promoted as a trusted source by the shady UK-government-funded influence outfit, the Integrity Initiative.'

Putin: If mid-range missiles deployed in Europe, Russia will station arms to strike decision centers
http://www.rt.com/news/451960-russia-deployment-missiles-europe/

'If the US deploys intermediate-range missiles in Europe, Moscow will respond by stationing weapons aimed not only against missiles themselves, but also at command and control centers, from which a launch order would come.

The warning came from President Vladimir Putin, who announced Russia’s planned actions after the US withdraws from the INF Treaty – a Cold War-era agreement between Washington and Moscow which banned both sides form having ground-based cruise and ballistic missiles and developing relevant technology.

The US is set to unilaterally withdraw from the treaty in six months, which opens the possibility of once again deploying these missiles in Europe. Russia would see that as a major threat and respond with its own deployments, Putin said. Intermediate-range missiles were banned and removed from Europe because they would leave a very short window of opportunity for the other side to decide whether to fire in retaliation after detecting a launch – mere minutes. This poses the threat of an accidental nuclear exchange triggered by a false launch warning, with the officer in charge having no time to double check.

“Russia will be forced to create and deploy weapon systems, which can be used not only against the territories from which this direct threat would be projected, but also against those territories where decision centers are located, from which an order to use those weapons against us may come.” The Russian president, who was delivering a keynote address to the Russian parliament on Wednesday, did not elaborate on whether any counter-deployment would only target US command-and-control sites in Europe or would also include targets on American soil.'

Media Big Lies About Putin’s Federal Assembly Address

Western major media, especially in the US, are a collective lying machine on issues mattering most, notably geopolitical ones, especially anything about Russia.

A separate article discussed Vladimir Putin’s Wednesday Federal Assembly address, the equivalent of the US president’s SOTU - his remarks polar opposite Trump’s bombast, bravado and Big Lies.

It’s how he always trumpets publicly (pun intended), Big Lies, deception, and gross exaggeration featured over truth-telling - why most everything he says lacks credibility.

In his Wednesday address, Putin explained that hostile US actions forced Russia to respond defensively, developing, producing, and deploying super-weapons exceeding the Pentagon’s best.

They’re not for use against another nation preemptively, he stressed, only to defend the Russian Federation effectively if attacked by an aggressor - Washington the key threat to Russia’s security.

US establishment media responded to Putin’s address with a litany of bald-faced Big Lies, part of their longstanding Russia bashing agenda for reasons I explained many times before - mainly its sovereign independence, Washington’s key target for regime change.
The NYT

Putin clearly said Russia threatens no other nations. It has no intention to attack any preemptively, proved by its actions.

Its super and other weapons are solely for defense - not offense the way the US operates, waging endless wars of aggression against one nation after another, what the Times and other US media never explain, supporting what demands denunciation.

The Times: On Wednesday, “Putin made some of his most explicit threats ever” - a bald-faced Big Lie.

The Times: “His aggressive tone (sic) appeared to be intended, in part, to persuade Washington not to abandon the (INF) treaty.”

His Wednesday remarks and others on geopolitical issues are consistently moderate to a fault. They lack toughness when needed, the only language the US understands, moderation seen as weakness.

The neocon/CIA-connected <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/putin-warns-new-weapons-will-target-us-if-missiles-are-deployed-in-europe/2019/02/20/62d0456e-3468-11e9-8375-e3dcf6b68558_story.html?utm_term=.800a69c411c6" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Washington Post repeated the same Big Lies about Putin’s address, saying “his remarks were among the strongest yet on a potential new arms race after the countries’ mutual pullout (sic) from a Cold War-era nuclear weapons treaty” - referring to the INF Treaty, disparaging the landmark treaty. No “mutual pullout” occurred. The Trump regime preemptively withdrew from the 1987 agreement, forcing Russia to react defensively, its only option.

WaPo: “Nuclear saber-rattling has become key to the Kremlin’s projection of power both at home and abroad, and could be an attempt to bring Washington to the negotiating table.”

Saber-rattling and naked aggression reflect how Washington operates, not Russia - at war with no other country. The US wages endless wars against nations threatening no one.

The Trump regime, WaPo, and other US establishment media falsely claimed Russian INF Treaty violations. Not a shred of credible evidence suggests it.

The <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/putin-ratchets-up-nuclear-warning-against-u-s-11550668465" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Wall Street Journal turned truth on its head, accusing Putin of “ratchet(ing) up (a) nuclear warning against the US,” adding:

“Russia…suspend(ed) its obligations under the INF treaty…in response to Washington’s plans to abandon the pact in six months if Moscow doesn’t destroy missile systems the US says are in breach of the agreement.”

The Trump regime lied about Russian missiles, the Journal failed to explain - nor that the US alone is a serial treaty violator.

According to the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, “publicly available information makes it clear that the US Aegis-based systems in Eastern Europe, if equipped with cruise missiles, would indeed violate the INF,” adding:

“If the Aegis-based systems in Eastern Europe were supplied with American cruise missiles — either the existing Tomahawk or a new missile that Russia claims the United States has been developing — they would become fearsome offensive forces, staged on the frontiers of Russia.”

“And there would be little way for Russia to know whether Aegis systems were loaded with missile defense interceptors or nuclear-armed cruise missiles.”

The Journal, WaPo, the Times, and other US major media failed to report the above assessment, along with not explaining that no credible evidence suggests Russia violated the INF Treaty.

The Journal instead called Putin’s straight forward talk “tough.” It was moderate, far short of needed toughness in dealing the the US.

As explained in the same day article on this issue, decades after the 1962 missiles of October crisis, world tensions are heightened over the Trump regime’s INF Treaty pullout and likely deployment of nuclear capable short and/or intermediate-range missiles in Eastern Europe close to Russia’s border - forcing the Kremlin to respond defensively, increasing the risk of nuclear war.

Russia is falsely blamed for hostile US actions. The imperial agenda pursued by Republicans and undemocratic Dems threatens world peace, stability and security.

US major media are silent on the most important issue of our time - along with supporting US aggression instead of denouncing it.

The Skripal Case: One Year On
http://off-guardian.org/2019/03/04/the-skripal-case-one-year-on/

'Dear Assistant Commissioner Basu,

It is now a year since the events in Salisbury that shocked the nation, and indeed the world. Since then, your organisation has conducted an investigation into the case, and has laid out a case about what happened in a series of statements, notably those made on 5th September (no longer available on your website), in which two suspects were formally accused, and another on 22nd November, following the screening of the Panorama documentary: Salisbury Nerve Agent Attack — The Inside Story.

To those who have a superficial interest in the case, the explanations you have presented for what happened on 4th March 2018 may appear credible, especially since the British media has largely repeated them verbatim, even when they have been self-evidently flawed and contradictory. Indeed the press has steadfastly refused (or been refused) to ask some very obvious and much-needed questions about them. But to those who have spent time looking at the incident, the explanations you have set out contain glaring omissions, factual errors (see here for more detail), and at least one scientific impossibility (more on this below). What I wish to do in this letter, is to set out some of the most important, and which I believe you owe it to the public to explain. <strong>WHY HAVE WE HEARD NOTHING FROM SERGEI SKRIPAL?</strong>

The most glaring problem with your case is the disappearance of Mr Skripal himself — and yes “disappearance” is the right word. It is now 12 months from the original incident, and about 11 months since it was announced that he had recovered. During that time there have been zero public appearances and — curiouser and curiouser — not even one public statement put out in his name. Additionally, it is known with certainty that he has not been in contact with his mother back in Russia — not on her birthday, not at New Year and not at Christmas — which has caused her great distress. This is not just odd; it is highly disturbing, especially given that Mr Skripal was said to be in the habit of contacting his mother every week prior to 4th March.

If I were to ask how you can account for this, I would anticipate an answer that includes the claim that any such statements, appearances, and contact are deemed dangerous to his security. Certain reports in the media have indeed stated or implied this. However, it will not wash, for two reasons:

Quote
Firstly, are we seriously expected to believe that the UK Intelligence Agencies are incapable of protecting Mr Skripal’s whereabouts and his safety, whether in a statement, a pre-recorded video, or in a call to his mother? The idea is self-evidently ludicrous.

Secondly, these apparent “security concerns” were somehow overcome with Yulia Skripal. Not only was a statement released in her name upon departure from Salisbury District Hospital, followed by a Reuters video of her reading out a pre-prepared statement, but she was also allowed reasonably regular contact with her family, including her cousin and grandmother — up to 24th July last year (that is, up to the point that she told her cousin that she “now understood everything”). If Yulia’s security can be protected, there is no reason that Sergei’s security can not also be guaranteed.

It is also worth noting that neither Sergei nor Yulia have once endorsed your explanation of the incident. Sergei has been silent, and as for Yulia, far from endorsing your version, in none of her statements or phone calls has she ever pointed the finger of blame at the Russian state for an assassination attempt on her and her father. In fact, she has repeatedly expressed a desire to go back to live in Russia — a very strange desire given what you claim happened to her, wouldn’t you agree?'
