Vucic: The only alternative is war, and we would not have survived it

Vucic says Serbia would not survive another war, which is why it has to strive for talks when it comes to resolving the Kosovo issue
Source: B92 Wednesday, February 19, 2020 | 11:24

Asked to comment on the statement by US Presidential Special Envoy Richard Grenell, that the fake news is that there is a US plan to resolve the issue of Kosovo, Aleksandar Vucic said that he always said we should talk first.

"Whenever large Western powers interfere, everyone will look for half of Serbia. It is our duty to resist this," he said after visiting construction works at the Clinic for Infectious and Tropical Diseases.

Vucic also posed a question to reporters: "Can you imagine our situation if we decide not to conduct talks, how would the people of Kosovo survive then, is there an alternative?"

Only war is an alternative and we will not do that, he said, noting that Serbia does not need conflicts.

"We need decades of peace because that's the only way we would have new clinics all over Serbia. We wouldn't survive another war. After the Balkan wars, the First and Second World Wars, the wars of the 1990s ... we wouldn't survive it. We need smart policy", Vucic concluded.

Ultimatum for Serbia. President Vucic explain it:

„Their idea (read: Germany) will be an ‘association +++’, so it will go to ‘Ahtisaari ++’. And they will try to tell Serbia ‘you will get guarantees for EU accession, I am talking about the final act, I guess, but you have to recognize Kosovo and you will get special status for the Serbs here and there and that’s it’.“

Let Bill Clinton's failed Kosovo strategy wither amid the COVID-19 pandemic

Taxpayer money funds American troops there to keep locals from killing one another

By J. Michael Waller - - Wednesday, April 22, 2020.

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Like a political cult’s fantasy park, a 10-foot statue of a waving Bill Clinton leers over Bill Clinton Boulevard not far from the Hillary clothing boutique. A metal bust of President Clinton’s former secretary of state, Madeleine Albright, lurks in the park nearby. Out of town, near an American military base, a 20-mile stretch of road is named after Joe Biden’s late son. A congressman from the Bronx, Eliot Engel, not only got his own boulevard but earned his face on a postage stamp.

It sounds like a freak show for The Swamp, and it’s real. All made possible with $2 billion of the American taxpayers’ money. Add an extra big bill for American troops there — not to protect the place from foreign invaders or to secure American vital interests — but to keep the locals from killing one another. The freak show is called Kosovo.

Kosovo is a never-ending mess. Its own people, a mishmash of irreconcilable cultures, historically can’t get along without some form of dictator or military occupation. Each side ethnically “cleanses” itself of the other in a civil war horror between ethnic Albanian Muslims and ethnic Serbian Christians. The Albanian majority forced out most of the Christians — hardly anyone in the world cared — and declared independence from Serbia.

The breakaway landlocked province has zero strategic value to the United States. Less than half the area of Vermont, Kosovo is home to a population almost the size of the Bronx. It’s a babel of five official languages with two alphabets. Eighty percent of its young people don’t work. Kosovo’s most famous exports are jihadists.
Just over two decades ago, Kosovo’s bloody civil war against the Christians and the Christian Serbs’ tough response prompted Congressman Engel to persuade Ms. Albright and Mr. Clinton to use American force to defeat the Christian side. Mr. Clinton used NATO as a fig leaf to run a bombing campaign affectionately called “Madeleine’s War” supposedly to stop the bloodshed.

The humanitarian bombing brought autonomy to Kosovo, but the bombs weren’t enough: An Islamist insurgency, the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), ran guerrilla operations on the ground to shape the new rebel government. Many U.S. officials at the time considered the KLA as an Islamist terrorist group, but Mr. Engel wasn’t perturbed. He used his seat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee to sponsor legislation to fund the KLA. That arguably helped earn Mr. Engel his picture on a Kosovo postage stamp.

After the war, the locals proved once again that they couldn’t get along and needed an armed babysitter. Mr. Clinton brought in American troops with European allies flying the NATO banner, and absurdly invited Russian troops to “help.” The awkward hybrid nearly resulted in a NATO military confrontation with Russia.

Protests have been held in Niksic, Pljevlja, Berane and Budva due to the arrest of the bishop of Budimlje-Niksic, Joanikije and several other priests of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), as the Montenegrin police in Niksic and Pljevlja fired tear gas and stun grenades at the citizens.

Several people have been detained during the incidents.

The police claim that they came under attack with stones and other objects during the riots in Niksic, that several police officers were injured, that official vehicles and equipment were damaged in the incidents, and that they arrested several citizens.

Vijesti writes that 22 policemen have been injured in the riots in the streets of Niksic, and that these were minor injuries.

A man was arrested last night in Podgorica because he displayed the flag of Serbia on a vehicle in a public place, another local dail newspaper, Pobjeda, said.

As stated, Danilo Raznatovic (34) was arrested according to Article 23 of the Law on Public Order and Peace, while the vehicle he was driving had foreign license plates.

A large number of citizens of Andrijevica blocked the road Berane-Andrijevica again last night, at the same place where a roadblock was broken up earlier yesterday.

In Niksic, the police also detained journalist and long-term correspondent of the Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti, Velis Kadic.

He said that he was arrested as he was trying to record two policemen dragging a young man who was resisting.

"While that drama was ongoing, one of the uniformed people wearing a helmet approached me and said, 'Who gave you the right to take pictures, who are you?'  Although I had my credentials (as a journalist), I had no time to show them, because they grabbed me," said Kadic.
Kadic was released after a request from local Niksic journalists that he should be questioned under an urgent procedure, and to determine the reasons for his arrest.

VUCIC: EU Wants Us Not to Oppose Kosovo U.N. Membership

Source: Beta

News / Politics | 18.06.20 | access_time 12:01

Srbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said he cannot anticipate what the U.S. might propose, but that he has an idea about what the EU wants concerning Serbia’s relations with Kosovo.

“I think they would like to tell us not to oppose Kosovo’s membership in the U.N., but they do not know what to offer us in return. In other words, we would not have to formally recognize [Kosovo’s independence], but should not be against them getting a chair in the U.N.,” Vucic said for the June 18 issue of the Vecernje Novosti daily.

“I expect,” Vucic added, that Europe “will tell us that we will get [EU] membership in a few years, which will put us in a difficult position; but that is not enough. Serbia has to be offered much more,” Vucic said.

Talking about Kosovo President Hashim Thaci’s repeated demand that the goal of the agreement be mutual recognition, Vucic recalled that U.S. President Donald Trump has tweeted on the subject as well.

NWO: WE WANT KOSOVO TO SEPARATE FROM SERBIA AND GIVE TO ALBANIANS

“He spoke about [mutual recognition] in his letter to me and Thaci, which is more important. I do not think that the U.S. will change its stand, nor will Germany or France. But, whether we will agree to it and tell Thaci – Bravo, you got everything – all I can say is that it won’t happen like that,” Vucic said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on June 19 concluded a visit to Serbia, where he met with top state officials to discuss political and economic cooperation, the state of the region and the Kosovo issue.

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic saw Lavrov off at Nikola Tesla Airport.

Dacic thanked Lavrov for a visit that "went exceptionally well." He stressed that "Lavrov is a great friend to Serbia" and "that is why each of his visits is a special occasion for Serbia."

On June 18, Lavrov spoke with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic, with whom he signed an agreement between the Serbian and Russian governments on cooperation in fighting terrorism.

With Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin, Lavrov visited an exhibition of the Defense Ministry and Army of Serbia on the 1999 NATO bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and accompanied Dacic after a meeting to place wreaths at the Red Army Soldier Memorial, at the Cemetery of the 1944 Liberators of Belgrade.

The Russian minister also met with the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church, patriarch Irinej.

U.S. media: Trump will meet with Vucic

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will meet with US President Donald Trump on Saturday, Belgrade media re
port

Source: Beta, Blic, Vecernje novosti Tuesday, June 23, 2020 | 09:59

Citing the writing of the "New York Times", it is stated that the meeting will take place during the visit to the White House, which is planned on the occasion of the American initiative to reach an agreement between Belgrade and Pristina, on June 27.

In the text dedicated to the elections in Serbia, the paper states that the President of Serbia in recent years "successfully fought for the support of competing world powers - maintaining strong relations with Russia and strengthening ties with China, while positioning Serbia as a potential EU member and US interlocutor."

But, the paper adds, after the election he convincingly won, he faces immediate international pressure - especially on the Kosovo issue.

On Monday, Vucic talked with the EU envoy Miroslav Lajcák* about the initiative led by the EU for the solution of Kosovo, and on Saturday he will meet with the President of the USA, Donald Trump, and his envoy for the Balkans, Richard Grenell.

In the meantime, he is flying to Moscow for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who believes that any agreement on Kosovo must have the support of the UN Security Council, in which Russia has the right to veto, according to the New York Times.

President of Serbia A. Vucic expects that by 2026, Serbia will become a member of the European Union.  :P

"I am convinced that we are entering the new phase of relations with the EU with optimism. I believe that we will complete negotiations with the EU by the end of the new government's mandate, which means that it would be realistic to become an EU member state by 2026. That is my opinion, my hope", he said.

One famous Serbian Journalist said that Serbia will be a member of EU when European Union will crush.

it is interesting that very little news has come out about the NATO./UN country of Kosovo ...
But the NPR/BBC channels are all abuzz about the war crime of the serbs ...

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-53169808
Kosovo President Thaci faces war crimes indictment
24 June 2020

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has been accused of war crimes by a special international prosecutor in The Hague.

Mr Thaci and others "are criminally responsible for nearly 100 murders", torture and enforced disappearances, the prosecutor said.

The accusations - covering Kosovo's independence war against Serbia - are being assessed by a judge at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers who will decide if the case goes to trial.
...
Allegations of organ-trafficking against the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) - the rebel movement that Mr Thaci led - were first set out by a former Hague war crimes prosecutor, Carla del Ponte in 2008. The EU-backed court was set up to investigate the claims.

...

The Kosovo Specialist Chambers (KSC) has suddenly broken its silence in the most dramatic manner. It has not just revealed that Kosovo's president is the subject of an indictment for war crimes and crimes against humanity, but also accused him of "repeated efforts… to obstruct and undermine the work" of the court.

For anyone who has ever attempted to get information from the KSC, this is a staggering development. The court has revealed virtually nothing about its work since it was established in 2016. Even when Kosovo's former Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj, said that he had been questioned as a suspect last year, there was no confirmation from the KSC.

The fact that the prosecutor has indicted Hashim Thaci is actually less surprising than the manner of the court's announcement. The KSC was set up to examine the allegations in a 2011 Council of Europe report which named Mr Thaci as the leader of a criminal offshoot of the Kosovo Liberation Army involved in drug, gun and human organ trafficking.
...
Mr Thaci has been in power in Kosovo since the end of the war - most recently as president of Kosovo.
The independence war in 1998-1999 cost more than 10,000 lives and only ended after a Nato air campaign.

Kosovo declared its independence in 2008, something Serbia still does not recognise.

Mr Thaci was due to travel to Washington DC for planned talks with Serbia's leadership in the White House on Saturday.

A Look at Serbia-Kosovo Dispute as War Crimes Charges Filed
An international prosecutor has indicted Kosovo’s president and nine other former rebel fighters with war crimes from before and after a 1998-99 armed conflict between the ethnic Albanian separatists and Serbia.
...
WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE WAR?

After years of peaceful resistance, ethnic Albanians in Kosovo formed rebel Kosovo Liberation Army units and launched sporadic attacks on Serb police and army divisions in 1998. Serbia, led at the time by nationalist strongman Slobodan Milosevic, responded with a brutal crackdown that triggered NATO intervention in 1999.

More than 10,000 people, mostly ethnic Albanians, died during the war in Kosovo and a million were driven from their homes before the NATO bombing campaign forced Serbia to pull its troops out of Kosovo and cede control to the United Nations and NATO. Thousands of Serb civilians also fled with the Serbian army and police. Those who stayed behind later faced revenge attacks.

HAVE THERE BEEN WAR CRIMES TRIALS BEFORE?

A United Nations tribunal for the former Yugoslavia tried a number of top Serbian officials and army and police commanders for war crimes committed against ethnic Albanian civilians during the Kosovo conflict. Milosevic also was indicted over Kosovo atrocities by the court in The Hague, Netherlands, but he died in 2006 while still on trial.

While most of the atrocities in Kosovo have been blamed on the Serbs, top rebel Kosovo Liberation Army commanders, including President Thaci, were accused of responsibility for kidnappings, torture, unlawful imprisonment and other. crimes against Serb civilians and pro-Serb Albanians.

The Kosovo Specialist Prosecutor's Office that indicted Thaci and others is part of a separate court in The Hague that was formed in 2015 to investigate alleged KLA crimes. Judges are yet to confirm the indictment, which had long been expected.

WILL IT COMPLICATE NORMALIZATION TALKS?

Srebrenica: Bosnia marks 25 years since massacre
54 minutes ago

Nine recently-identified victims of the massacre at Srebrenica have been buried during a ceremony in Bosnia marking 25 years since it took place.

Burials were held at a nearby village as part of the event commemorating the mass killing - Europe's worst atrocity since World War Two.

Former US President Bill Clinton, the Prince of Wales and relatives of the thousands who died also spoke.

Bosnian Serb forces killed a total of 8,000 Muslim men in Srebrenica in 1995.

The massacre took place during the Bosnian War (1992-1995). Thousands of Bosniaks (Bosnian Muslims) had sought safety in the town, which the UN was protecting with Dutch forces, but the area fell during a Serb offensive in July.
...
About 100 dignitaries were in attendance, and they wore masks and sat spaced apart due to social distancing.
...
Prince Charles said the massacre was "a dreadful stain on our collective conscience".

"The international community failed those who were killed, those who somehow survived and those who endured the terrible loss of their loved ones," he said.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said "many perpetrators have still not been held to account", adding that he wanted to "stand with the families in their fight for justice".
...
Lightly-armed UN peacekeepers, in what had been declared a UN "safe area", did nothing as the violence raged around them.

A UN tribunal in The Hague that investigated the events later spoke of the huge amount of planning that went into the massacre.

And former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan later declared: "The tragedy of Srebrenica will forever haunt the history of the United Nations."

Hagia Sophia: Turkey turns iconic Istanbul museum into mosque
10 July 2020

The world-famous Hagia Sophia museum in Istanbul - originally founded as a cathedral - has been turned back into a mosque.

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the decision after a court annulled the site's museum status.

Built 1,500 years ago as an Orthodox Christian cathedral, Hagia Sophia was converted into a mosque after the Ottoman conquest in 1453.

In 1934 it became a museum and is now a Unesco World Heritage site.

Islamists in Turkey long called for it to be converted to a mosque but secular opposition members opposed the move. The proposal prompted criticism from religious and political leaders worldwide.

Defending the decision, President Erdogan stressed that the country had exercised its sovereign right in converting it back to a mosque.

He told a press conference the first Muslim prayers would be held inside the building on 24 July.
...
What has the reaction been?

Unesco has said it "deeply regrets" the decision to turn the museum into a mosque and called on the Turkish authorities to "open a dialogue without delay."

Erdogan extorts EU with Syrian, Iraqi and Afghan refugees
By Jed Babbin - - Saturday, March 21, 2020

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is following Mr. Emmanuel’s advice by blackmailing the EU and trying to rope NATO into his scheme.

In 2015, nearly 2 million Syrian, Iraqi and Afghan refugees passed through Turkey into the EU. The refugee flood aimed itself mainly at Germany and, because the EU’s “Schengen Agreement” enables free passage between almost all of its member states, as many as 1 million reached there. The flow was ended by an agreement between the EU and Mr. Erdogan’s regime for which the EU paid Turkey about $6 billion. Currently, about 4 million refugees are being maintained in Turkey.

Why did Albania build a statue of George Bush?

Albanians adore George W. Bush. For he was the first sitting U.S. President to visit post-Communist Albania. In fact, Albanians loved George Bush so much that they stole his watch as a memento.

But, Albanians also adore Bill Clinton. For, it was under Clinton’s leadership that the U.S. intervened in the Kosovo War of 1998–1999 and helped liberate thousands of Albanians from the barbaric Serbs.

There is a bust of Hillary Clinton in Sarande, Albania…

In organization of Blazo Djukanovic ( son of NATO President of Montenegro Milo ) on capital square in Podgorica there is thousands of citizens who are
hate Serbs ( "Patriotic meeting" ). There are no incidents because future leaders of new Montenegrin Government and Serbian Orthodox Church tell citizens to stay at home.
