Even the Dalai-Lama, possibly as a result of Tibet's experiences with Communist China thinks Europe is being supplanted/replaced ... human wrongs, not human rights.

The Dalai Lama has claimed Europe could become ‘African or Muslim’ if refugees do not return to their home countries. The 83-year-old, who has been living as a refugee from Tibet since 1959, said he thinks only a ‘limited number’ of people should be allowed to remain in their adopted countries.

He told the BBC that he thought European nations should be obliged to take in those who are fleeing their home countries and need help, but should ultimately be taught skills to return with.

He said: ‘European countries should take these refugees and give them education and training, and the aim is – return to their own land with certain skills.’

Farage's Brexit MASTERPLAN to crush new PM: Brexit Party's £200 billion boost to fight election
http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1147059/brexit-latest-news-nigel-farage-brexit-party-election-boris-johnson

NIGEL Farage will today unveil plans for a £200billion investment in the regions as the Brexit Party prepares to fight and win an autumn general election.

The first big policy announcement by the party which won the European Parliament elections comes as it unveils more than 100 Westminster candidates at a rally today. Senior figures in the party have also told the Sunday Express that they will be ready to fight an election by the end of July. It is understood that the party, which was only formed in May, will have regional campaign teams and operations ready to rival the Tories and Labour. The Brexit Party going on to a full election footing comes as a Cabinet minister said senior ministers now believe an election in October or November is “almost inevitable”.

Ministers already expect defeat at a by-election called in the Welsh constituency of Brecon and Radnorshire where the Tory MP Chris Davies was found guilty of fiddling his expenses.

The Cabinet minister said: “The problem is that some of my Remainer colleagues will support a vote of no confidence in Boris. If we lose the by-election in Wales we will have a majority of just two, even with the DUP, so it will only take one or two [Remainer Conservative] MPs to support the vote and we are facing an election.”

Veteran MP Ken Clarke and chief Remainer rebels Dominic Grieve and Phillip Lee have been named as the most likely rebels to stop no-deal “because they have nothing to lose”.'

Switzerland-EU partnership row facing deadline
dw.com

Easy trading in Swiss shares from within the EU could crumble at midnight Sunday in a row over a new partnership deal. For months, Bern has refused to sign the long-negotiated treaty text on multiple links with the bloc.

Relations between non-EU Switzerland and its 28 EU neighbors were strained Sunday, with the European Union threatening from midnight to terminate its preferential treatment of Swiss stock exchanges. From July 1, the EU would no longer recognize Swiss stock-exchange regulations as being equivalent to its own.

Switzerland, last week announced a "protective" plan
— set to take effect on Monday — that would bar EU exchanges from trading in certain Swiss shares.
...
The partnership treaty, in the works since 2014, is supposed to "ensure a more uniform and efficient" governance on issues such as mutual market access and labor movement between the alpine nation and surrounding EU neighbors.

...  not a member of the EU, Switzerland already has some 20 bilateral agreements with the bloc and even makes a financial contribution to the EU. After the USA and China, it is the EU's third largest trading partner.
...

Analysts said more broadly, the EU wants to avoid walking back on its stance as it contemplates yet more negotiations with Britain over post-Brexit relations.

Jeremy Corbyn caught on camera savagely mocking the EU for its ‘aggressive military foreign policy’ and insisting it didn’t deserve the Nobel peace prize in 2012
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7193301/Jeremy-Corbyn-caught-camera-savagely-mocking-EU.html

Jeremy Corbyn has been filmed savagely mocking the European Union, insisting that it did not deserve the Nobel peace prize that it won in 2012, MailOnline can reveal.

The Labour leader – who has been resisting calls to back Remain in a second referendum – is seen sarcastically saying that the EU was given the peace prize 'for setting up an army and an aggressive military foreign policy'.

'The Nobel peace prize awarding committee have a great sense of humour,' he told a conference in London in the year the award was won.

He went on: 'The European Union has been rewarded for setting up an army and an aggressive military foreign policy. It’s obvious. Don’t worry about it.'

The Labour leader joked: 'How can you not give a Nobel peace prize to Henry Kissinger? Then one to Barack Obama, who then uses the acceptance speech to call for a renewed war in Afghanistan?

'I mean, just have a sense of humour about it.'

A Labour spokesman was unapologetic, saying: 'We're sure the EU is a big and resilient enough institution to take a joke.'

The comments, made three years before Mr Corbyn became leader, will deepen alarm among Labour activists trying to persuade their leader to give his full backing to Remain in a second referendum.

The EU is widely viewed by Remainers as having secured peace in Europe following the Second World War.

Last week a tense meeting of the shadow cabinet failed to agree on a Brexit policy, with Mr Corbyn refusing to endorse Remain until Trade Union leaders had been consulted.

Mr Corbyn's remarks were made in October 2012 at a 'Europe Against Austerity' conference organised by the hard Left group Coalition of Resistance. The tone of the sessions was largely pro-Brexit.'

No armageddon! UK in 'strong position' for no deal Brexit - Hammond fear-mongering exposed
CLAIMS that a no deal Brexit would cost the country £90billion were rubbished yesterday as it emerged the UK is well prepared for leaving the EU.
By Martyn Brown, Senior Political Correspondent
PUBLISHED: 00:01, Wed, Jul 3, 2019
https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/1148193/brexit-news-no-deal-plan-uk-boris-johnson-jeremy-hunt-tory-leadership

Philip Hammond said that leaving the European Union without a deal in place would hit nation’s coffers hard – far more than is set aside to cope with such an outcome.

The Chancellor poured scorn on pledges from Tory leadership hopefuls Jeremy Hunt and Boris Johnson, telling MPs he is not in favour of "ad hoc" spending or tax cut commitments being made.

And he claimed that a no deal exit would cause such a dent to the UK economy the £27billion war-chest created to deal with its impact would have little impact.

But a senior cabinet source told the Daily Express yesterday that preparations for leaving the EU are more advanced than people think.

“It’s not really a binary argument between deal or no deal,” he said. “Even if we leave without a deal there will still be many agreements in place between the UK and the EU to make sure trade is done, aeroplanes fly and electricity is available.

Andrew Neil perfectly dismantles europhile in clash about future of EU

'BBC host Andrew Neil got into a fiery row with a pro-EU political commentator during his late-night BBC show – watch as the TV host “brutally” ridicules the europhile following the appointment of “failed” German defence minister Ursula von der Leyen as the next European Commission President.

The BBC host demanded to know why the future of the European Union is safe within the hands of the “second most unpopular politician in Germany”. Hosting BBC This Week, Mr Neil asked French journalist Bénédicte Paviot: “We have an interest in the EU prospering. It’s our biggest market.

“So, I still don’t understand why you think the EU is now in safe or even better or optimistic hands with a failed German defence minister, a failed Belgian Prime Minister, a former finance minister found guilty of negligence in a multimillion-pound euro scandal, and a Spanish politician who has been a cheerleader for repression in Catalonia.

“Why is Europe in good hands with people like that?”

Ms Paviot hit back and claimed Mr Neil’s comments were simply “an opinion”, she added: “Certainly, Ursula von der Leyen has been criticised.”

Mr Neil fired back once again and said: “She is the second most, from the Der Spiegel poll last month, the second most unpopular politician in Germany.'

Dominique Strauss-Kahn, or who will replace him, are minor matters compared to scandal of the IMF's very existence.

The International Monetary Fund often is in the news, but rarely in the U.S. That changed when Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn ended up at New York's Rikers prison charged with rape. Strauss-Kahn's travail well symbolizes the IMF: an institution of entitlement and privilege focused on mulcting the rest of us.

The leading contender to replace Strauss-Kahn, who resigned while proclaiming his innocence, is French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde. T
he board plans to make its selection by June 30, but instead should shutter the organization.

Brexit plan: Farage reveals only way Boris Johnson can get no-deal through parliament
http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1150294/Brexit-news-Nigel-Farage-Boris-Johnson-no-deal-Brexit-Party-Tory-leadership-latest

'NIGEL FARAGE laid out a step-by-step guide for Boris Johnson to adopt in order to deliver a no deal Brexit with the full support of the British public.

Nigel Farage told the Tory leadership frontrunner he must send a strong message to the European Union to signal the UK is "serious" about leaving without a deal. Boris Johnson has pledged to deliver Brexit "with or without a deal" if he is elected Prime Minister but Mr Farage outlined a step-by-step guide on how to get a no deal. Speaking on his Sunday LBC show, the Brexit Party leader said: "This is what he has to do. He has to go to the house of commons and say 'we, as an institution, our two big political parties, we are now losing the support and confidence of the country, not just in us as people, not just in us as parties, but actually the entire democratic system is now open to question.'

"We have to deliver Brexit, there is no other way of doing it than leaving on 31st October. I did give notice in Brussels that we are leaving on that date on WTO terms. I’ve told them we absolutely mean it.'

"'I told them I’m coming to the House of Commons to ask for a majority on it and that, once that is done, it is common interests for the both of us to apply to the World Trade Organisation to act as an honest, willing broker, to use Article 24 of the GATT Treaty, to smooth the way and give us a couple of years to smooth everything out.'"'

‘This is not democracy’: European parliament unites to condemn selection of new EU Commission president behind closed doors
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/european-commission-president-ursula-von-der-leyen-juncker-eu-parliament-a8987841.html

'The European parliament’s political groups have united to condemn the selection of the next European Commission president, branding the process an undemocratic stitch-up by national governments.

EU leaders chose Ursula von der Leyen as their pick to replace Jean-Claude Juncker as the leader of the European Union’s executive branch despite the fact she was not on the ballot paper as a candidate and has no manifesto.

The European Council effectively ignored the European parliament’s spitzenkandidat, or “lead candidate” system, which was supposed to inject an element of democracy into the selection of commission president – instead nominating the defence minister, who is largely unknown outside Germany. “I’m not going to congratulate the council. President Tusk, I cannot support how things were done and the lack of respect that you’ve shown to other institutions,” said Gonzalez Pons, spokesperson for the dominant centre-right EPP group in the parliament. The EPP’s criticism of the process is notable because Ms Von der Leyen, a member of Angela Merkel’s CDU party, is actually a member of the EPP.

Mr Pons continued: “The future of Europe can no longer be decided behind closed doors. The spizenkandidat process is not about one person or one name – the citizens of Europe want to elect the person who is governing Europe. This is not revolutionary, this is democracy.

“The council has the right to propose a candidate to lead the commission to lead the parliament. However, what the council doesn’t have the right to do is to ignore all the candidates that have been voted for by European citizens.” He said the approach of carving up other top jobs taken by EU leaders was “clearly against the treaties”.'

Did RUSSIA leak bombshell memos from UK's Man In Washington? Jeremy Hunt confirms probe is looking at a 'hostile state' trying to damage Britain's relationship with Trump
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7226527/Foreign-Office-investigate-leaked-Sir-Kim-Darroch-Trump-memos-cyber-hack-Russia.html

'Jeremy Hunt has confirmed the Government is probing whether Sir Kim Darroch's scathing memos about Donald Trump were deliberately leaked by a 'hostile state'.

The UK ambassador to the US has been embroiled in a huge political row after leaked memos revealed him calling Trump 'inept and incompetent', with the Government probing how they came to be released to the media.

But now the Foreign Office is considering whether Russia hacked Sir Kim to unveil messages that would 'cause maximum embarrassment and harm' to officials on both sides of the pond.

They believe hackers could have launched a cyber attack to obtain files and damage UK-US relations.

Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt told The Sun: 'Of course it would be massively concerning if it was the act of a foreign, hostile state. 'I've seen no evidence that that's the case, but we'll look at the leak inquiry very carefully.

'They are going to follow all avenues of inquiry to try to understand how this happened. That's something that will be considered.'

The Cabinet Office is leading the inquiry amid fears the culprit could be someone intent on damaging Britain's relations with the US.

One Whitehall source told the Mail: 'Someone meticulously went through the cables and picked out the ones designed to cause maximum embarrassment and harm.'

A second Government source thought it looked like something 'out of Russia's playbook'.

It comes after outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May said Sir Kim had her 'full faith', despite his claims Trump's White House is 'dysfunctional'.'

Unions agree Labour should back remain in referendum on Tory deal
http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/jul/08/unions-agree-labour-should-back-remain-second-referendum-brexit

'Labour is poised to declare it will campaign for remain in a second referendum on any deal put to parliament by a Conservative prime minister, after trade union leaders including Unite’s Len McCluskey backed a change of policy.

The joint position agreed by the unions on Monday would not commit Labour to an explicitly pro-remain position in all circumstances: unions also agreed Labour should seek to deliver a Brexit deal if the party won an election before the UK left the EU.

That Labour deal would also be put to a public vote, but the party would not commit to campaigning for remain against its own Brexit deal, throwing into doubt what Labour would offer in any snap election manifesto.

One senior shadow cabinet source described it as a significant win for remain campaigners, despite the potential lack of clarity. “Unions have backed a referendum on any deal this parliament and Labour campaigning for remain – that’s a big victory. What’s in a manifesto is a debate for another day,” the source said.

Barring any major intervention, the surprise consensus among trade unions including Unite, GMB, Unison, Aslef and Usdaw is likely to force any remaining sceptics to agree to the new position when the shadow cabinet meets on Tuesday.

Several shadow cabinet sources said the policy had the hallmarks of being approved by the Labour leader’s office and said it “would not be watered down” – though some shadow ministers are likely to push for an even stronger position.

Labour’s deputy leader, Tom Watson, who has regularly clashed with Jeremy Corbyn over the party’s Brexit position, tweeted: “Remain is who we are. Our values are remain, our hearts are remain. Today is a step in the right direction but members and supporters are clear that any kind of Brexit gives us less than we have now and Labour should not support it.”'

Brexit warning: MPs could stop no-deal Brexit today using THIS bill
http://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/1150406/brexit-news-mps-vote-no-deal-brexit-boris-johnson-tory-leadership

'MPs have the chance to block a no-deal Brexit during a House of Commons vote on Monday, arch Remainer Dominic Grieve warned yesterday.

The Government has tabled a bill to delay any new election to the Northern Ireland Assembly while power-sharing talks continue. The proposed bill, being put to the Commons today, could see a future NI assembly election pushed back until at least October 21, possibly even January next year. Former attorney general Dominic Grieve told the BBC the bill is a “perfectly legitimate place” to look at ways to stop a no-deal Brexit.

He said: "We're going to have, in the course of the next 24 hours, an important bill on Northern Ireland.

"Northern Ireland and Brexit go rather closely together.

"The chances are, if Brexit goes through - a no-deal Brexit - it is going to be the end of Northern Ireland's union with the United Kingdom, with serious political consequences flowing from it.'

European Union: Toward a European Superstate
http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/14503/european-union-towards-superstate

'After weeks of frenzied backroom wrangling, European leaders on July 2 nominated four federalists to fill the top jobs of the European Union. The nominations — which must be approved by the European Parliament — send a clear signal that the pro-EU establishment has no intention of slowing its relentless march toward a European superstate, a "United States of Europe," despite a surge of anti-EU sentiment across the continent.

Following are brief profiles of the nominees for the top four positions in the next European Commission, which begins on November 1, 2019 for a period of five years. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission

German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen, the daughter of a prominent EU official, has been nominated to replace Jean-Claude Juncker as the next president of the European Commission, the powerful bureaucratic arm of the European Union. Von der Leyen, of the center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU), was a compromise choice after the candidacy of Manfred Weber, a favorite of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, was rejected by critics, led by French President Emmanuel Macron.

Macron had favored the candidacy of European Commission Vice President Frans Timmermans, a Dutch Social Democrat. Timmermans, however, was rejected by the Visegrád Group — the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia — due to his frequent criticism of their stance against mass migration and judicial reforms.[br][br]Von der Leyen has called for the creation of a European superstate. "My aim is the United States of Europe — on the model of federal states such as Switzerland, Germany or the U.S.," she said in an interview with Der Spiegel. She has also called for the creation of a European Army.

At the same time, however, von der Leyen has been roundly criticized at home and abroad for her performance as German defense minister. During her tenure, Germany's military has deteriorated due to budget cuts and poor management, according to Parliamentary Armed Forces Commissioner Hans-Peter Bartels.

"The Bundeswehr's condition is catastrophic," wrote Rupert Scholz, who served as defense minister under Chancellor Helmut Kohl, days before von der Leyen was nominated to the EU's top post. "The entire defense capability of the Federal Republic is suffering, which is totally irresponsible."'

BBC Radio News reports that Boris Johnson admits playing a part in the resignation of Kim Darroch, US Ambassador.
By doing this, Boris is on the cusp, grasping destiny by the bud at this moment. If Boris doesn't turncoat he'll be a good PM.

I’ll take you to court to block a no-deal Brexit, Gina Miller tells Boris Johnson
http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/jul/14/gina-miller-legal-action-block-no-deal-brexit-boris-johnson

'The campaigner and businesswoman Gina Miller will launch immediate legal action to prevent Boris Johnson from shutting down parliament in order to drive through a no-deal Brexit against the wishes of MPs, the Observer can reveal.

Miller’s lawyers, Mishcon de Reya, have written to the likely next prime minister, saying that such a move would be not only “constitutionally unacceptable” but also unlawful, and would lead them to mount an urgent challenge in the courts.

Miller has assembled the same legal team, including the QCs Lord (David) Pannick and Tom Hickman, that successfully forced Theresa May in early 2017 to grant MPs a vote before triggering article 50, the process that set the clock ticking on the UK’s exit from the EU. Her latest move will add to the drama as the country faces political and economic uncertainty with the approach of the latest Brexit deadline of 31 October.

In a letter sent to Johnson, seen by the Observer, the team at Mishcon de Reya make clear that prorogation of parliament – something Johnson has repeatedly refused to rule out – would involve the use of prerogative powers, which courts would seek to limit. “Such powers cannot be exercised in a manner which is contrary to fundamental constitutional principles,” they say.

The letter adds: “It would seriously undermine parliamentary sovereignty for you, as prime minister, to prorogue parliament to prevent it from considering whether to legislate to prevent a no-deal Brexit.

“You would be closing the doors of parliament to prevent it from legislating on the most important political issue of the day, when time is of the essence. In such circumstances it would be unlawful for you as prime minister to advise Her Majesty to prorogue parliament for the purpose of preventing parliament from considering the enactment of a law to stop the UK leaving the EU without a deal.”'

Hunt and Johnson: the backstop is dead and can't be in any EU deal
http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/jul/15/hunt-and-johnson-the-backstop-is-dead-and-cant-be-in-any-eu-deal

'Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt have declared the Northern Ireland backstop “dead” and promised to throw it out of any deal they negotiate with the EU, in comments that significantly harden their Brexit positions.

The Tory leadership rivals both ruled out trying to tweak the backstop, which critics said could trap the UK indefinitely in a customs union with the EU.

They said it would not feature in any deal with the EU, saying it was no good to have a time limit on it or a way of the UK exiting it unilaterally – even though Eurosceptics had previously indicated they could vote for such compromises. Pressed in a Sun and Talk Radio debate on whether he would seek a time limit to the backstop, Johnson said: “The answer is no. The problem is really fundamental. It needs to come out.”

He said his policy would be “no to time limits or unilateral escape hatches or these kind of elaborate devices, glosses, codicils and so on which you could apply to the backstop”.

“I think the problem is very fundamental. It has been devised by this country as an instrument of our own incarceration in the single market and customs union. It needs to come out,” he added.

Hunt agreed, saying “the backstop, as it is, is dead”, adding that there had to be a new way. “I don’t think tweaking it with a time limit will do the trick,” he said. “If we are going to get a deal we must have an absolute cast-iron commitment to the Republic of Ireland that we will not have border infrastructure. So what they liked in the backstop was the fact it guaranteed that. If we are going to solve that we need to find another way of guaranteeing that same thing.”'

Five EU countries negotiate with Boris to avoid No Deal Brexit: Leaders 'offer Johnson a new plan' and Irish PM says 'let's avert catastrophe'
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7267403/Brussels-offer-Boris-Johnson-Brexit-extension.html

'EU countries are secretly wooing Boris Johnson in a bid to thrash out a new Brexit plan that would avoid No Deal, according to reports.

Senior Irish politicians and diplomats have held talks with two of Johnson's cabinet allies in recent days, and German and French figures as well as the Dutch and Belgian governments have also established contact with Johnson's team and signalled an intention to do a deal, it is claimed.

Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney has indicated Dublin is prepared to compromise, the Sunday Times reported.

Johnson has pledged to take Britain out of the EU on October 31 with or without a deal but Coveney said in an article for the paper that EU member Ireland wants to avoid a no-deal exit at all costs. 'If Britain decides to leave without a deal it could cause huge damage to us all,' he wrote. 'A no-deal Brexit would devastate the northern Irish economy.'

The news comes amid Justice Secretary David Gauke's announcement that he will quit the Government on Wednesday if Boris Johnson wins the race to become prime minister - over objections to the Conservative frontrunner's plans to brace for No Deal.

Mr Gauke said that crashing out of the European Union would lead to national 'humiliation'.

Johnson is widely expected to have beaten Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt when the result of a ballot of members of the ruling Conservative Party for their next leader to replace Theresa May is announced on Tuesday.

The news comes amid reports Brussels will offer Mr Johnson a Brexit extension past October 31 in a final bid to strike an agreement deal and to help him keep the Conservative party together.

The extra time in the EU would be used for negotiation but could apparently be sold to Tory Brexiters as a chance to further prepare for a No Deal exit.

'It will be described as a technical delay to save Boris from political embarrassment but then we will have time to find an agreement,' one senior EU diplomat told The Guardian.'

Boris Johnson is set to be crowned Prime Minister tomorrow
but six ministers threaten to quit in protest and a further six Tory MPs could DEFECT to the Lib Dems

* Boris Johnson's Brexit plans face blow as senior ministers would quit if he wins

* Half a dozen ministers are expected to resign on when Theresa May leaves office

* Six more Tory MPs were 'planning to defect to the Liberal Democrats' if he wins

* Mr Johnson is likely to win a comprehensive victory in the Tory leadership race

Boris Johnson's Brexit plan faced a double blow last night before he even enters No 10.

Polls show Mr Johnson is likely to win a comprehensive victory when the result of the Tory leadership race is announced tomorrow.  But in a sign of difficulties he faces once in Downing Street, senior ministers opposing No Deal including Philip Hammond and David Gauke announced they would quit the Government if he becomes Prime Minister.

They are among half a dozen ministers expected to resign on Wednesday, when Theresa May leaves office, rather than being sacked. In addition, six more MPs were rumoured to be planning to defect to the Liberal Democrats if he becomes the party's new leader. And Mr Johnson is not just facing trouble from within his own party. Yesterday the Irish government took a hardline stance against his demand for a better Brexit deal. Ireland's deputy prime minister Simon Coveney insisted the EU would not renegotiate the withdrawal agreement and rejected outright the idea of a time limit on the Northern Ireland backstop.

* They may discuss a no-confidence vote against Boris Johnson or even defection
* If they joined the Liberal Democrats, Mr Johnson would be left without a majority

Six Tory MPs may defect to the Liberal Democrats if Boris Johnson is anointed Conservative leader tomorrow, it was claimed yesterday. The rebel group are due to hold talks with the pro-Remain party this week and could discuss voting against Mr Johnson in a vote of no confidence, The Sunday Times reported. It is said they could even consider joining the Lib Dems – depriving Mr Johnson of a majority even with the backing of the DUP.
