DUP LAUNDERED BREXIT MONEY FOR MYSTERIOUS CONSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH COUNCIL
https://ansionnachfionn.com/2017/02/24/dup-laundered-brexit-money-for-mysterious-constitutional-research-council/
February 24, 2017

After much speculation, the controversy embroiled Democrat Unionist Party (DUP) has finally come clean and named the British lobby group it spent money on behalf of during the United Kingdom’s anti-EU referendum campaign in the first half of 2016. The largely unknown Constitutional Research Council, a right-wing think tank, “donated” £425,622 (€504,098) to the DUP, which used the cash to fund a series of pro-Leave adverts in Britain, including a single high-profile advertisement in the London Metro newspaper which cost the party a staggering £282,000 (€333,639). The DUP MP Jeffrey Donaldson claimed in an article for the pro-union Belfast Telegraph that the Democratic Unionists were not:

Quote
“…a wealthy party, and therefore to finance our national campaign the DUP raised funds.

The DUP was for Leave. We raised money; we spent it on our position, which we’ve held since the party was founded. Who donated to us?

They’re the CRC – the Constitutional Research Council – a group which supports constitutional pro-Union causes. They believed, as did we, that Brexit would be good for the Union and bad for those who oppose it.

I thank the CRC for choosing to donate to us, and, modesty to one side, I hope for our part we ran a campaign worthy of the cause.”

So what is the mysterious Constitutional Research Council (CRC)? It is understood to be a lobbying organisation of well-connected British nationalists, mainly politicians and businessmen, led by Richard Cook, a former vice-chairman of the Conservative Party in Scotland and an unsuccessful candidate in several UK general elections. Its last public appearance occurred during the bitter fight over the leadership of the Tories following prime minster David Cameron’s shock resignation. The group produced a number of polls favouring the present premier, Theresa May, and is thought by some to be close to her faction of the Conservative Party.

Whatever its exact makeup and role, and relationship to the hard-right Tory government in Britain, there is no doubting why the CRC chose the xenophobic DUP to covertly channel its anti-European donations through. Nor do we need to ask why Arlene Foster’s party grabbed the secret cash when offered, as it plays its own long-term, separatist game of undermining friendly relations between Ireland and the United Kingdom. A nihilistic ambition which will come to fruition in the coming year with the probable imposition of a Brexit border around the UK-administered Six Counties and the rolling back of two decades of soft reunification on this island nation.

Some politicians find it easier – and more beneficial – to deal with the politics of violence than the politics of peace.

UPDATE: The British website, Open Democracy, is reporting that the Constitutional Research Council has links to the former head of the Saudi intelligence service, Prince Nawwaf bin Abdul Aziz, who was also the father of the current Saudi Ambassador to the UK.

“He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.”
Martin Luther King Jr.

The influence of the Orange Order and the Free Presbyterian Church within Northern Ireland’s biggest political party can today be laid bare.
The Belfast Telegraph begins a series revealing the details of the most extensive study ever carried out into the DUP.
The Democratic Unionist Party: From Protest To Power will be published by Oxford University Press later this month. Exclusive extracts show that Free Presbyterianism remains the largest faith among both DUP members and elected representatives. The Orange Order is even more dominant.

I think a hung parliament is a good result for the UK. Any government is going to be engaged in nefarious activities, particularly this Tory govt, so theoretically the weaker they are the less damage they can do, and Theresa May also now needs to be much more mindful of public opinion. There were two terror attacks and about 30 dead, including little kids, in an effort to bully the people into voting for May, and while this was successful in at least putting May back in power, the effectiveness of this approach is not what is once was.

The final result was reasonably close to the exit poll, with a swing in favor of the Tory party of 9 seats which I believe is just within the 2% 'limit'. However it should be noted that if the exit polls had been correct then Theresa May would not have been able to form a realistic government even with the DUP, so it is probable that a small amount of count rigging was employed to ensure that it was May who formed the government and not Corbyn, but not enough to arouse general suspicion.

Well it is the same wave that they call "populism".

Thing is, if you actually talk to real people, something I'm addicted to doing. Then in the local cafe, they are sick to death of being "talked down" and "told what to think". Most of the ones I talk to have jobs, but the pay rises are 1% and yet the utilities like gas, electric are going up well above inflation. They glimpse headlines, and get the idea that Big Corps are paying not any taxes, and other scandals come but nothing changes.

People want change, and angry people are more likely to bother to comment, click, vote, than happy people.

The pundits don't talk to people, they sit in posh cafes with allegedly fancy coffee - they theorize and speculate. There rationalizations are produced to support some truisim idelogical point spewed by some limited hang out party.

Take Watson declaring its some kind of "conservative revolution" and that "consevative is the new counter culture". If that fool had not lived in an echo o o o o o o chambre of other right wing lunatics, BNP Agents, and so on . . . and when he is not online, Watson hangs out in the Trendy Battersea area ( Same place the famous Pink Floyd Album cover )... drinking cappuccinos and gastro trendy pubs... Its his blindness that made him ignore the Bernie Sanders Lesson. Now the point being not to discuss Bernie, but observe that he tapped into the very same well of "populism".

So although these Limited Hangouts, called Political Parties are greedy beyond comprehension to gouge at the trough of votes . . . they are incapable of seeing the real picture.

I could get into personalities and parties, but I'm trying to see the bigger picture.

Keep on talking to them... The Locals

Battersea area

Jeremy Corbyn is playing the long game – if history is indeed repeating itself, he will be the Prime Minister

BY ANDREW CHEETHAM ON 11 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415315/jeremy-corbyn-playing-long-game-history-indeed-repeating-will-prime-minister

‘Like most things in politics, if you look around you tend to find that something thought of as extraordinary and unprecedented has happened before. Or something very like it.

It may be no accident that John McDonnell – one of the principal architects of Labour’s remarkable resurgence – and Jeremy Corbyn sound like they’ve been following the 1974 example, the last time Britain had a hung parliament and the formation of a minority government. They’re of an age to remember it well. McDonnell often speaks of it. They’ve been doing their history homework.’

Boris bids to be PM: Johnson team circles wounded Theresa May as she's forced to sacrifice key aides to keep her job as Tory leader

BY ANDREW CHEETHAM ON 11 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415320/boris-bids-pm-johnson-team-circles-wounded-theresa-may-shes-forced-sacrifice-key-aides-keep-job-tory-leader

‘Boris Johnson is preparing a new bid to become Prime Minister as Theresa May’s grip on No 10 becomes increasingly fragile.

A close ally of the Foreign Secretary said last night it was ‘go-go-go’ for Mr Johnson’s leadership push, adding: ‘We need Bojo. We need a Brexiteer.

We need somebody who can talk and connect with people like Jeremy Corbyn does. We need someone who can make Britain believe in itself again.’

Mr Johnson’s supporters are being careful to say that he will not take any action while Mrs May remains in No 10 – but the fact that his allies are actively briefing about his virtues will be seen in Downing Street as destabilising.’

Petition to stop Tory/DUP ‘coalition of chaos’ reaches 540,000 signatures in 24hrs

BY ANDREW CHEETHAM ON 11 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415312/petition-stop-torydup-coalition-chaos-reaches-540000-signatures-24hrs

‘A petition launched Friday urging British Prime Minister Theresa May not to form a ‘coalition of chaos’ with the Democratic Unionist Party has already gained over half a million signatures and counting.

The author of the ‘Stop the DUP & TORIES forming a Minority Government!’ petition, writing under the pen name Winston Churchill, called the proposed alliance “a disgusting, desperate attempt to stay in power.”

Unlike previous online petitions filed through the UK government website, this petition is non-binding and will not trigger an official response from the government nor has the potential to force debate in the House of Commons.

The official petitions website is currently down until a new Petitions Committee is set up by the House of Commons.’

Sky sources: Downing Street made statement on DUP deal in error

BY ANDREW CHEETHAM ON 11 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415399/sky-sources-downing-street-made-statement-dup-deal-error

‘Theresa May’s bid to do a deal with the Democratic Unionist Party to save her premiership has been plunged into uncertainty.

In a move that could jeopardise her frantic attempts to remain as Prime Minister, the DUP is accusing Downing Street of announcing a deal on its MPs voting with the Tories in the Commons before an agreement has been reached.

After the PM sent her Chief Whip Gavin Williamson to Belfast to negotiate a deal to keep the Conservatives in power, No. 10 said the DUP had agreed to the principles of an outline agreement.

But in a dramatic twist just before midnight on Saturday, Sky sources said No.10’s account of the talks had been issued in error and the DUP had not yet reached any agreement with the Tories.’

Theresa May faces backlash after opening coalition talks with Democratic Unionist Party

BY ANDREW CHEETHAM ON 11 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415309/theresa-may-faces-backlash-opening-coalition-talks-democratic-unionist-party

‘A beleaguered Theresa May is facing a backlash after agreeing an outline deal with anti-gay Democratic Unionists to save her premiership.

Conservatives spoke out after a senior party figure was sent to Belfast seeking a deal that could have seen the DUP handed ministerial jobs, with one Tory telling The Independent it meant being “pushed out to the right”.

In the end, no formal coalition was agreed. But a “confidence and supply” arrangement was struck for the DUP to back the Tories on key votes. The Cabinet will discuss it on Monday.

It came as Ms May was also forced to let go of her two trusted aides Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill – described as her “right and left arm” – to prevent a leadership challenge following her disastrous election campaign.’

Theresa May appeals to MPs for support as her future hangs in balance

BY GARETH ICKE ON 12 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415408/theresa-may-appeals-mps-support-future-hangs-balance

‘Prime minister expected to signal at 1922 committee meeting that she will run government in a less controlling way, after carrying out modest reshuffle

Theresa May will appeal to her MPs to throw their weight behind her at a crunch meeting on Monday, as her future hangs in the balance after the Conservatives’ majority was wiped out in Thursday’s general election.

The prime minister is expected to signal to her parliamentary colleagues that she will run her government in a more collegiate, less controlling way, after sacrificing her two closest advisers, Fiona Hill and Nick Timothy.’

Orange Order asks DUP to use banned sectarian Drumcree march in negotiations with Theresa May

BY GARETH ICKE ON 12 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415425/orange-order-asks-dup-use-banned-sectarian-drumcree-march-negotiations-theresa-may

‘Supporters of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) are demanding Theresa May allow a banned loyalist march as part of an agreement by the Northern Irish party to prop up a minority Conservative government.

The Portadown Loyal Orange Lodge (LOL), who are currently prevented from marching in the flashpoint Gavaghy Road following a long history of sectarian violence, put out a statement amid speculation as to what concessions the DUP could demand in return for striking a deal with the Tories.

Orangemen were banned from marching through the nationalist area of the mainly loyalist town following repeated riots during the Troubles. Protests against the ban culminated in 1998 with the shocking murders of three young boys after their house was firebombed in a loyalist arson attack.’

EU Juncker TOLD Theresa May to call snap election to make Brexit easier (yes, I'm sure that was the reason)

BY ANDREW CHEETHAM ON 13 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415474/eu-juncker-told-theresa-may-call-snap-election-make-brexit-easier-yes-im-sure-reason

If this played a part in her decision she qualifies for life membership of Naivety Anonymous.

‘Theresa May reportedly called her doomed snap election after being told to by Jean-Claude Juncker.

The European Commission chief pressed the Tory leader to go to the polls amid concerns her slim majority would hold up Brexit talks.

But the gamble backfired spectacularly and Mrs May is now barely holding on as Prime Minister after her majority was wiped out.

Although she appears determined to limp on in government anyway and is set to meet DUP leader Arlene Foster on Tuesday to thrash out a deal to get the all-important backing of her ten MPs.

The revelation is a fresh humiliation for the PM, who called the election to beef up her majority to ‘strengthen her hand’ in Brexit talks, but was punished by the electorate in the ballot box.

An EU source told The Observer reported: ‘During bilaterals, in the margins of summits, Juncker repeatedly told her he thought she should do it.”’

Labour and Conservatives 'in cross party talks to secure softer Brexit'

BY ANDREW CHEETHAM ON 13 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415487/labour-conservatives-cross-party-talks-secure-softer-brexit

‘Labour and Conservative MPs have reportedly met for secret talks amid growing pressure on Prime Minister Theresa May to take a cross-party approach to Brexit in light of the hung Parliament following the general election.

Ms May, who is working to form a minority government with support from the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), is being urged by many Labour MPs and some members of her own Cabinet to pursue a so-called soft Brexit, where concessions could be made for access to the single market.

Scottish Conservatives’ leader Ruth Davidson, whose influence has increased dramatically with the election of 13 Tories north of the border, has broken party ranks to say: “This isn’t just going to be a Tory Brexit”.’

Theresa May asked if Rupert Murdoch told her to give Michael Gove a Cabinet job, in letter from Labour's deputy leader

BY ANDREW CHEETHAM ON 13 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415483/theresa-may-asked-rupert-murdoch-told-give-michael-gove-cabinet-job-letter-labours-deputy-leader

‘The Prime Minister is facing demands to say whether Rupert Murdoch asked her to appoint Michael Gove to the Cabinet.

In a letter to Theresa May, deputy Labour leader Tom Watson said it had been “suggested” to him that Mr Murdoch, owner of The Times and The Sun, had lobbied the PM for Mr Gove’s return to front-bench politics.

Ms May sacked the now-Environment Secretary last year when he was serving as Justice Secretary, having previously headed the Department for Education.

Mr Watson’s letter says: “Given your failure to secure a parliamentary majority and the consequent weakness of your position, it might be tempting to allow yourself to be influenced by powerful media proprietors who can shape the way your government is covered.’

Theresa May’s new partners linked with recent HORRIFIC hammer attack on father-of-three

BY ANDREW CHEETHAM ON 13 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415477/theresa-mays-new-partners-linked-recent-horrific-hammer-attack-father-three

‘Theresa May’s new partners the Democratic Unionist Party has links to loyalist paramilitary organisations in Northern Ireland.

But the links are not all in the distant past of the Northern Ireland ‘troubles’.

In 2015 – just two years ago – the loyalist paramilitary group the UDA attacked a community worker with hammers in his home in front of his wife and children.

His crime? Objecting to paramilitary thugs taking over community facilities in his village.

In 2016, two members of the terrorist organisation the Ulster Defence Association were charged and found guilty of the attack.’

Will Tory-DUP deal reignite Northern Ireland’s Catholic-Protestant tensions?

BY ANDREW CHEETHAM ON 13 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415498/will-tory-dup-deal-reignite-northern-irelands-catholic-protestant-tensions

‘Northern Ireland’s Protestant Orange Order has urged the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) to use its newfound political influence over Tory Prime Minister Theresa May to get a ban on its controversial annual march lifted.

The DUP, which has close links with the Loyal Orange Institution, is reportedly under pressure to use its new kingmaker role to extract concessions from the Conservatives.

The Orange Order is a masonic-style, hyper-conservative religious and political organization which grew out of Northern Ireland’s centuries-long sectarian conflict.

The DUP itself was at the center of a bloody sectarian divide during Northern Ireland’s Troubles – a conflict involving rival paramilitary groups and the British Army which claimed more than 3,000 lives over 30 years.

Concessions from the Tories might include the dropping of a ban on a controversial march by the Protestant order through a Catholic area of Northern Ireland’s Portadown along Garvaghy Road.’

Different take on Corbyn from Tom Secker (spyculture.com)

http://www.spyculture.com/clandestime-111-manchester-bombing-politics-fear/

The Politics of the Manchester Bombing

Quote
As predicted, once the campaign restarted we’ve seen the entire dialogue shift to one about safety and security. However, I was wrong when I said Corbyn could not win if that was the dialogue. Even before the campaign got going again I’ve seen no end of Corbyn supporters talking about how Theresa May’s cuts mean there are 20,000 less police on the streets, implying that this somehow led to the Manchester bombing. In reality, MI5 had at least five chances to intercept Abedi and mysteriously failed every time. More police on the streets wouldn’t have made a damn bit of difference to that. Likewise, once the campaign restarted I’ve seen no end of memes about how Labour are going to spend more on the police, more on MI5, more on the military, more on prison wardens.

There’s also some promise to stop selling weapons to Saudi Arabia. This would be a great policy, but as per usual the underlying implication is the same racist colonialist bullshit that got us into this mess. The idea is that it’s those dirty Saudis, those brown governments, they’re the ones who sponsor jihadis. Not us clean white governments, we just make mistakes like selling weapons to the worst government in the world, one that’s run by Islamic fundamentalists. Also, you know as well as I do that if Corbyn gets elected he won’t be able to ban the sale of weapons to Saudi Arabia. The Royal Family and some of the biggest most powerful most tooled-up-with-lobbyists companies in the country are intimately involved in that trade. What would likely happen is some completely watered down version where they promise a new watchdog office for arms export licenses or something on that scale.

At the time I’m recording this the latest thing is Corbyn’s speech which is basically the same old ‘they bombed us because we bombed them’ which completely maintains the binary fiction of us and them and avoids any notion of us sponsoring them, the jihadis, or of us protecting Libyan terrorists in Manchester. The conclusion being if we stopped bombing them there would be no more terrorism. Again, I’m not denying that this would be a good idea, but the same racist, colonialist ideas underpin this interpretation of what has happened.

This has caused me to completely re-evaluate who and what Corbyn is, and what the purpose of this bombing may have been. Rather than ensure Theresa May gets elected, the bombing may be more about pulling Corbyn into a dialogue that suits the security state. Because Corbyn’s populist platform is all based on spending more money on things. More money on the NHS, more on social care, more on schools. And now there’s been a bombing, more on the military, police, MI5. MI5’s budget more than doubled between 2001 and 2011, it was raised again after the Paris massacre in late 2015. We already spend billions on this and Corbyn is promising more raises for those who sponsor and protect terrorist as well as another £10 billion for ‘cybersecurity’. Rather than take the fact that when she was Home Secretary Theresa May decided to cancel a contract for updating the security on the NHS computer system, leading to a massive hack of that system only a couple of weeks ago, and shoving that fact right down that psychotic bitch’s throat, he wants to spend £10 billion on cybersecurity. And the whole notion of cybersecurity is a cruel farce because GCHQ and the NSA have hacked virtually every piece of software ever made. This being the same GCHQ who would be the major beneficiaries of that £10 billion pounds since ‘cybersecurity’ is their whole reason for existing. Except in reality, their raison d’etre is hacking and spying on everything.

And Corbyn knows this, because we all know this because of the media hype around Snowden. But he wants to spend £10 billion on cybersecurity while saying not a fucking word about what GCHQ are really up to.

EU growing ‘impatient’ with Britain, says Brexit negotiator Verhofstadt

BY ANDREW CHEETHAM ON 14 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415609/eu-growing-impatient-britain-says-brexit-negotiator-verhofstadt

‘The European Parliament’s chief Brexit negotiator, Guy Verhofstadt, says EU officials are growing “impatient” with the British government, as they wait for its negotiating position following last week’s snap election.

In a tweet, Verhofstadt said the “current uncertainty cannot continue” after the UK’s June 8 general election resulted in a hung parliament and left Prime Minister Theresa May scrambling to form a minority government propped up by the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP).

May’s humiliating loss of a Tory majority means she is likely to adopt a softer negotiating stance to win support in a House of Commons hostile to a ‘hard Brexit’ and to make sure the DUP gives her the backing she needs.

There are growing calls among MPs of all the major parties for May to drop plans to withdraw from the single market and end freedom of movement, and to soften her stance so that the Brexit deal reflects the electorate’s demands.’

Brexit: Macron says 'door remains open' to UK remaining in EU until talks end

BY ANDREW CHEETHAM ON 14 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415612/brexit-macron-says-door-remains-open-uk-remaining-eu-talks-end

‘French President Emmanuel Macron says “the door remains open” for Britain to change its mind about Brexit, after talks with Theresa May in Paris.

Mr Macron threw out the olive branch, even amid rising EU anger about the delays to the exit talks – which he said should be “launched as soon as possible”.

“Of course the door remains open, always open until the Brexit negotiations come to an end,” the President said, when asked if Britain could yet stay in the EU.

Mr Macron said it was not for him to say whether the decision should be questioned. “Once the negotiations have started we should be well aware that it’ll be more difficult to move backwards.”’

Yes this really is the end of Tory austerity – because it was never about economics in the first place

BY ANDREW CHEETHAM ON 14 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415616/yes-really-end-tory-austerity-never-economics-first-place

‘“The crisis”, the economist Rudiger Dornbusch once noted, “takes a much longer time coming than you think. And then it happens much faster than you would have thought.” A similar dynamic describes the progress of Conservative austerity politics.

The stunning failure of Theresa May in last week’s general election signalled to Tory MPs that the public have had enough of spending cuts. Though the deficit still stands at £50bn and the national debt is £1,700bn (and rising), austerity is over, we’re now told.

Seven years of Tory lectures that eradicating the deficit for the good of future generations is paramount suddenly fall silent. Politicians who have tarred critics as criminally irresponsible for suggesting an increase in public borrowing have now, in an instant, changed their tune.’

Theresa May's internet clampdown will be a distraction from 'fragile' government situation, activists suggest

BY ANDREW CHEETHAM ON 14 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415635/theresa-mays-internet-clampdown-will-distraction-fragile-government-situation-activists-suggest

‘The government could push through extreme internet regulation while people are distracted by the current political situation, according to activists.

Theresa May might use her wide-ranging plans for technology – which includes weakening security and increasing censorship – as a way of restoring some of “image as a tough leader”, the Open Rights Group has warned. The prime minister might look to automatically censor the internet, for instance, and weaken security in a way that “could put all of us at a great risk of crime”, it said.

Despite failing to win a majority at the recent election, Ms May has suggested that she will keep going with her extreme plans. And she might do so specifically because the government’s majority is “fragile”, he said.’

Ministers 'will quit' if Brexit is watered down: Top Tories warn May not to give in to Hammond on softer deal

BY ANDREW CHEETHAM ON 15 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415794/ministers-will-quit-brexit-watered-top-tories-warn-may-not-give-hammond-softer-deal

‘Theresa May will face Cabinet resignations if she gives in to demands from Philip Hammond to water down Brexit, senior Tories warned last night.

The Chancellor will use a major speech in the City tonight to set out his vision on Brexit, amid mounting speculation he is pressing Mrs May to compromise in talks with Brussels starting next week.

The leading figure in the Remain campaign told his German counterpart this week that the Conservatives had been punished by young voters for their stance on Brexit at last week’s election.

He suggested that Brexit policy could now change. And he is now said to be pressuring Mrs May to adopt a strategy that would keep Britain in the EU customs union – even though this would give EU judges a say over British laws and limit the options for striking new trade deals around the world.’

Sinn Fein accuses May of breaching Good Friday Agreement as she seeks deal with DUP for Ian Paisley's party to prop her up in power
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4606740/The-Queen-s-Speech-place-WEDNESDAY.html

Sinn Fein accused Theresa May of breaching the Good Friday Agreement today as she seeks a deal with the DUP to prop her up in power. Gerry Adams, president of the Republican party, said he had told the PM 'very directly' during talks in Downing Street this afternoon that she was undermining the peace deal. But he also appeared to hint that Sinn Fein was not implacably opposed to an agreement going ahead - as long as it means significant new funding for Northern Ireland.

Mrs May hosted Sinn Fein, the DUP and other parties at No10 in a bid to restore the Stormont assembly after its acrimonious collapse in January. She insisted after the talks her Government remained committed to restoring full devolution to the province as soon as possible.   However, the situation has been complicated as she is also seeking to secure her Commons majority with support from the DUP's MPs after a disastrous election campaign.

‘We want justice’: Grenfell Tower protests spill on to streets

BY GARETH ICKE ON 17 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/416018/want-justice-grenfell-tower-protests-spill-streets

‘Theresa May heckled as she unveils £5m cash fund and dozens of demonstrators scuffle with police.

Hundreds of protesters angry at the government’s handling of the Grenfell Tower disaster descended on the offices of Kensington town hall while others barracked the prime minister as she met residents for the first time near the scene of the tragedy.

More demonstrators marched through in central London through Whitehall towards Downing Street and then on to Broadcasting House off Oxford Street. The crowd later moved off towards Kensington High Street, chanting: “No justice, no peace.”’

London protests as they happened: Demonstrators demand justice for Grenfell victims after day of fury and sorrow

https://www.davidicke.com/article/416045/london-protests-happened-demonstrators-demand-justice-grenfell-victims-day-fury-sorrow

Protests erupted across London on Friday afternoon in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire disaster, with victims and other angry Londoners uniting in outrage at the failings that led to the blaze.

Many of the protesters called on Theresa May to resign, after a number of damning reports about the Government’s treatment of fire safety concerns emerged after the tragedy.

The Prime Minister was also under intense pressure after she failed to meet with victims immediately after the fire, choosing to talk to the emergency services instead. She has since visited victims in hospital.

After being booed by Grenfell victims, Theresa May caps another dreadful day with 'inhuman' TV interview and fails to give a single straight answer after being accused of misreading public's anger

‘Theresa May has been slammed by viewers for showing a ‘lack of empathy’ during a gruelling interview in the wake of the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

The Prime Minister appeared uncomfortable as she received grilling from the BBC’s Emily Maitlis on Newsnight over her actions following the devastating blaze.

The ’embarrassing interview’ came at the end of a disastrous day for Mrs May.

She has been heavily criticised for failing to meet with victims when she first visited the site of the fire on Thursday.’

Theresa May U-turns on promise to rehouse Grenfell Tower residents in local area

BY GARETH ICKE ON 17 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/416031/theresa-may-u-turns-promise-rehouse-grenfell-tower-residents-local-area

‘THERESA May performed yet another U-turn after going back on a promise to rehouse all Grenfell Tower residents in the local area.

The Prime Minister has now admitted that some of the residents may be rehoused in other parts of London – despite reassurance from housing minister Alok Sharma all occupants would be rehoused near the west London tragedy.

Last night, Mrs May said that the residents would be found homes in the same borough or neighbouring ones.

Mr Sharma told MPs on Thursday that the “Government will guarantee that every single family from Grenfell Tower will be rehoused in the local area”.’
