SHOW NOTES AND MP3: https://www.corbettreport.com/?p=22809

We all know the story by now: the repeal of Glass-Steagall in 1999 led to the housing bubble, the subprime meltdown and the global financial crisis...right? What do we really know about Glass-Steagall and how do we know it? Today James peels the layers off another long-standing alt media myth and discovers a surprising and cautionary tale about how the banksters can manipulate us into doing our dirty work for them.
“He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.”
Martin Luther King Jr.

Steve Mnuchin’s Old Company Just Settled for $89 Million for Ripping Off the Government on Dodgy Loans

https://theintercept.com/2017/05/16/steve-mnuchins-old-company-just-settled-for-89-million-for-ripping-off-the-government-on-dodgy-loans/

For four years during Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin’s tenure as chair of OneWest Bank, its reverse-mortgage subsidiary Financial Freedom ripped off the government by receiving unlawful federal insurance payments on reverse mortgages, according to an $89 million Justice Department settlement made public today.

Financial Freedom serviced thousands of government-insured reverse mortgages from 2011 to 2016. According to the settlement, the company repeatedly filed insurance claims with the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), and received interest payments, without following program guidelines. This gave Financial Freedom a critical backstop for reverse mortgages that often harmed borrowers.

When Trump talked about a '21st Century Glass-Steagall', he obviously didn't know what he was talking about, because he is not a knowledgeable or intelligent man - being stupid is at least a point of mitigation - and I wouldn't be surprised to hear this being put forward as a defense soon.

'Munchkin' effectively admitted that the '21st century Glass-Steagall' stich was just sophistry (at best) to bolster the obviously fraudulent 'anti-establishment' credentials of the Trump regime, and of course he couldn't say what was meant by it except to say that it was nothing to do with 'Glass Steagall', as skillfully highlighted by Elizabeth Warren.

One of the excuses that Trump apologists have put forward for handing over the government to Goldman Sachs, is that 'they are smart guys and Trump needs smart guys' (because Trump isn't smart - again, I think they will be admitting this soon but saying it as a compliment). However all the bankers I have ever met are very average, even below average and hard of thinking in many cases, and Miunchkin is a good example of this, who showed that behind the smug and affected elitism he is basically just an average entitled know-nothing mobster from the upper east side rather than Jersey.

Donald Trump condemned over bid to 'kill' Obama law aimed at stopping another global financial crash

BY ANDREW CHEETHAM ON 11 JUNE 2017 GMT
https://www.davidicke.com/article/415317/donald-trump-condemned-bid-kill-obama-law-aimed-stopping-another-global-financial-crash

‘Democrats have condemned Donald Trump for championing a bid to “kill” regulations imposed on banks following the financial crisis in 2008.

The US President celebrated after Republicans in the House of Representatives approved the Financial Choice Act, which would end government bailouts for banking giants and ease restrictions on their investment activity.

The bill is designed to undo the Dodd-Frank Act, which was signed into law by former US President Barack Obama in 2010 in an attempt to reform Wall Street and protect consumers in the wake of the worst financial crash since the Great Depression.’
