Saudi Arabia is heading for record number of executions this year after killing 43 people already
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6847703/Saudi-Arabia-heading-record-number-executions-year-killing-43-people-already.html

'Saudi Arabia is on course for a record number of beheadings and crucifixions in 2019 if their executions continue at the present rate.

The desert kingdom has already executed 43 people in the first three months of this year – the most recent being a Syrian man who was put to death on March 13th for smuggling amphetamine pills.

If this rate continues, 172 will have been put to death by the end of the year – more than ever before.

So far, 21 people have been beheaded for drugs offences. But other crimes which carry the death penalty include adultery, renouncing Islam, treason, espionage, burglary as well as murder, terrorism, rape or espionage. Despite an upward trend in the number of executions since 2000, Saudi Arabia is still in third place behind China and Iran, where between 249 and 285 people respectively were executed in 2018. In 4th and 5th place are Iraq and Pakistan.

The figures were compiled by human rights groups such as Death Penalty Worldwide, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.

Figures released in December by the watchdog, Reprieve, showed that executions doubled in Saudi Arabia under the new ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The number of people put to death between June 2017 – when MBS came to power – and March 2018 was 133, compared to just 67 in the preceding eight months before he was installed.

Nearly half of those were poor migrants, mostly from South Asia, who had been coerced into smuggling drugs.

Reprieve said that there had been nearly 700 executions in Saudi Arabia since 2014, averaging 13 a month.'

Victims of Saudi Arabia mass execution 'made false confessions under torture' say reports
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/04/26/victims-saudi-arabia-mass-execution-made-false-confessions-torture/

'Victims of a mass execution in Saudi Arabia were made to give false confessions obtained under torture, according to media reports.

The kingdom on Tuesday beheaded 37 citizens, nearly all from its Shia minority, with one crucified after death. The United Nations said at least three were minors when charged.

Court documents seen by CNN show that 34 of the men had repeatedly denied the veracity of their confessions to judges trying their case.

Fourteen were convicted of forming a “terror cell” in the city of Awamiya, a Shia heartland in eastern Saudi, after anti-government demonstrations in 2011 and 2012.

Documents from the Awamiya case reveal how the men repeatedly told the court that their admissions were false and had been obtained through torture. In some cases, the suspects said they had provided nothing more than their thumbprints to sign off on confessions which they claimed had been written by their torturers. “Those aren’t my words,” said one of the accused, Munir al-Adam, during the trial, according to the documents. “I didn’t write a letter. This is defamation written by the interrogator with his own hand.”

The 27-year-old, who was partially blind and deaf, was named as one of the men executed.

Another prisoner, Hussein Mohammed al-Musallam, told the court that he suffered from multiple injuries, including a broken nose, collarbone and leg.

“Nothing in these confessions is correct and I cannot prove that I was forced to do it,” said Musallam.

The Saudi government did not immediately respond to several requests for comment on the allegations of torture and forced confessions laid out in the documents.'

Saudi Arabia launched military operation. Population warned  ::)  to stay away from targets

A Saudi-led coalition has launched a military operation north of the Yemeni port city of Hodeida
Source: B92, Tanjug Friday, September 20, 2019 | 12:15

The Saudi-led coalition launched a military operation north of Yemen’s port city of Hodeidah against what it described as “legitimate military targets”, Saudi state TV Al Ekhbariya informs, as Reuters reports.

The coalition said it had called on civilians to stay away from the area and said the operation was carried out in accordance with humanitarian law.

"The coalition's naval forces detected an attempt by the terrorist Houthi militia backed by Iran to carry out an imminent act of aggression and terrorism south of the Red Sea using an unmanned, rigged boat, launched from Hodeida province," coalition spokesman said in a statement.

The Western-backed, Sunni Muslim coalition intervened in Yemen in March 2015 against the Yemen Iran-aligned Houthi group after the Houthis ousted the internationally recognized government in Sanaa in late 2014.

The incident comes as the United States and Saudi Arabia consider responses to the assault on Saudi oil facilities, which Washington and Riyadh blame on common foe Iran. Tehran denies any involvement. Is there a new large-scale conflict threatening us?

Officially, the responsibility for the attack was taken by the Yemeni Houthis, but neither Saudi Arabia nor their US ally wants to admit it, but blames Iran, an ally of the Houthis.

Officials from all sides express a series of threats, mentioning war, attacks, retaliation. The Houthis also announced that the attack on the oil plant is only the beginning and that many targets are being chosen in Saudi Arabia. Now that Riyadh has attacked the Houthi targets, it is utterly uncertain what will come out of it.

Conspiracy theory: USA and MSM will cover this "military operation" with international demonstrations of Climate Crisis
