Russian security chief calls BBC ‘fake news factory that Britons themselves take with a smile’
http://www.rt.com/russia/448867-patrushev-blasts-britain-bbc/

Britain is a former empire trying to stay relevant in European affairs by becoming an anti-Russian champion, Nikolai Patrushev, a senior Russian security official, believes. British people see through this ruse, he said.

Patrushev, the former head of the security service FSB, who currently chairs the Russian national security council, painted a highly unfavorable picture of modern Britain in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta. He said the British establishment still cannot get over their country’s rapid transition from the world’s most-powerful empire to a nation subjugated by its former colony, the United States. Quote
Today the British leadership learns about the most important decisions taken in the White House from the media. Britain cannot remain even the leader of the Old World. The continental Europe is tired of London’s arrogant one-sided policy, its outdated habit of trying to dictate terms to others.

The Russian official said Britain is trying to preserve its diminishing influence by becoming Europe’s champion in an anti-Russian crusade, based on supposed common European values. This foundation however is false, Patrushev said.

“Britain poses as a model democracy. But it’s not clear how it complies with the strict censorship in the British media, for example," he said.

“The BBC has pretty much become a fake news factory that the Britons themselves take with a smile,” Patrushev added. “Admittedly, Britain is not alone in its Russophobic policy. Except the nations with the same mindset mostly are in Eastern Europe.”

The criticism comes amid a low point in Russian-British relations, which deteriorated further from an already low level last year over the poisoning of former double agent Sergei Skripal in the UK. London claims that the deed was done by Russian intelligence agents and has been stonewalling all of Russia’s requests for details of the investigation. Moscow denies any involvement and says the affair is being used by Britain to stir anti-Russian sentiment at home and in other nations.'

True. I watched BBC on the Cable TV and I never saw one good news from Serbia or Russia. Those countries are same to the Board of BBC obviously.
BBC may change the name to Radio Berlin.

They don't know the Berlin Wall has been down longer now, than it was up.

BBC impartiality has taken hit, director general admits
http://www.theguardian.com/media/2019/mar/28/bbc-must-stand-up-for-impartiality-says-director-general

'The BBC’s director general has admitted that the corporation’s reputation as a provider of impartial news has taken a hit in recent years, while insisting the corporation is committed to giving coverage to all sides of controversial debates.

Tony Hall said there was a “need to stand up for impartiality” at a time of widened generational, political and social differences and that “making sure all sides of a debate are heard – all different views and voices – is fundamental to our mission”. “We must stand up for it and defend our role like never before. It is essential if we are to continue to be the place people know they can trust to get to grips with what is truly happening in the world, and to hear the broadest range of views,” he said in the BBC’s annual plan, which sets out the corporation’s objectives for the year ahead.

The impartiality of the corporation’s news output has come under attack from all sides in recent years, especially following the Brexit referendum. It has been at the focus of discussions over whether the national broadcaster should be giving airtime to individuals who represent extreme views in the name of balance.

Hall said that perceptions of the BBC’s impartiality had ‘“weakened in recent years”, adding: “We need to see what we can do to strengthen them.”'

‘Deliberately misleading & biased’: Labour shreds BBC report depicting Party as anti-Semitic swamp

A BBC program probing anti-Semitism in the Labour Party has sparked a furious response from the party, which denounced the report and its producer, who directed an earlier program smearing party leader Jeremy Corbyn, as biased.

An episode of BBC Panorama entitled 'Is Labour Anti-Semitic?' purported to get to the bottom of what the BBC has melodramatically described as “the anti-Semitism crisis gripping Jeremy Corbyn's Labour Party.” Based largely on information provided by eight former party members, the show has provoked a wave of indignation from Labour, which accused the BBC of violating its own “obligations of fairness, balance and political impartiality.”

Ex BBC presenter exposes the dark side of Panorama’s ‘incredibly suspect’ episode on Corbyn
http://www.thecanary.co/uk/analysis/2019/07/13/ex-bbc-presenter-exposes-the-dark-side-of-panoramas-incredibly-suspect-episode-on-corbyn/

On 12 July, former BBC presenter Anna Brees spoke out against Panorama and its “incredibly suspect” episode on Jeremy Corbyn.

Speaking to The Canary, Brees, who turned down an offer to rejoin the BBC in 2014, said:

Quote
I am absolutely, utterly aghast of what I’ve seen just of Panorama.

She continued:

Quote
The Labour press office saying that they’ve doctored an email. I’m not surprised on what they’ve done with the antisemitism situation. … It’s just like all the other stuff they do…

At the end of the day, I’ve seen enough and I’ve heard enough from those who have been involved and asked to contribute how they’ve had a very clear agenda right from day one. And I think they are incredibly suspect

In its latest Panorama, which aired on 10 July, the BBC stands <a href="https://www.thecanary.co/trending/2019/07/11/last-night-the-bbc-edited-a-labour-email-and-broadcast-the-hit-job-to-millions/" data-wpel-link="internal">accused of “doctoring” an internal Labour email. The party <a href="https://www.thecanary.co/trending/2019/07/11/last-night-the-bbc-edited-a-labour-email-and-broadcast-the-hit-job-to-millions/" data-wpel-link="internal">says the BBC‘s version ‘completely misrepresents’ its contents. Indeed, the programme <a href="https://www.thecanary.co/trending/2019/07/11/last-night-the-bbc-edited-a-labour-email-and-broadcast-the-hit-job-to-millions/" data-wpel-link="internal">edited out the Jewish identity of the people in question, who were accused of antisemitism.

The BBC denies this and rejects Brees’ accusations, telling The Canary:

Quote
The BBC stands by its journalism and we completely reject any accusations of bias or dishonesty… The programme [Panorama] adhered to the BBC’s editorial guidelines, including a full right of reply for the Labour Party.

We reject any claims Panorama took any of the evidence out of context.

But, in its latest episode on Labour, the BBC ignored the broader picture. For instance, it didn’t mention that disciplinary cases relating to antisemitism among Labour members since September 2015 <a href="https://www.thecanary.co/trending/2019/07/11/last-night-the-bbc-edited-a-labour-email-and-broadcast-the-hit-job-to-millions/" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">relate to 0.06% of party’s 540,000-strong <a href="https://www.thecanary.co/uk/2019/02/05/labour-shuts-down-itvs-robert-peston-for-weaponising-fantasy-data-against-the-party/" data-wpel-link="internal">membership. Labour <a href="https://www.thecanary.co/trending/2019/07/11/last-night-the-bbc-edited-a-labour-email-and-broadcast-the-hit-job-to-millions/" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">says:

Quote
This represents a tiny minority, but one antisemite is one too many, and we will continue to act against this repugnant form of racism.

Critcising the latest Panorama, Labour <a href="https://labourlist.org/2019/07/is-labour-antisemitic-bbc-panorama-on-political-interference-leaked-emails-ex-staff/" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer" data-wpel-link="external">accused the BBC of malicious propaganda:

The Panorama programme and the BBC have engaged in deliberate and malicious representations designed to mislead the public.'
