Trump has not built a single mile of new border fence after 30 months in office
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/trump-has-not-built-a-single-mile-of-new-border-fence-after-30-months-in-office

'SAN DIEGO, California — The Trump administration has not installed a single mile of new wall in a previously fenceless part of the U.S.-Mexico border in the 30 months since President Trump assumed office, despite his campaign promise to construct a “big beautiful wall.”

In a statement last week, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the federal agency overseeing border barrier construction, confirmed that all the fencing completed since Trump took office is "in place of dilapidated designs" because the existing fence was in need of replacement. The agency said that it had built 51 miles of steel bollard fence with funding that was set aside during fiscal 2017 and 2018. But while the funding was meant both to replace outdated walls and to place barriers where there previously had been none, the government has only completed the replacement projects. The projects to secure areas with no fence are still in the works.

The 50 miles of completed replacement barrier is a 10-mile gain since early April. In Trump’s two and a half years in office, his administration has installed an average 1.7 miles of barrier per month, and none of it in areas that did not previously have some sort of barrier. A total 205 miles of new and replacement barrier has been funded in the two and a half years since Trump took office.

A senior administration official told the Washington Examiner that Border Patrol and the Army Corps of Engineers moved faster on replacement projects than the new ones because the approval process for environmental and zoning permits was far less extensive than areas of the border with no barrier.

A second senior official defended the administration's progress and blamed Democrats in Congress for blocking funding for additional projects the White House has tried to move on.'

Author I think downplays Cohn ties to more powerful people.  I also think the author underestimates Trump's intelligence and ability to manipulate. I posting this article to show that Trump's ties to powerful players since the very beginning of his career.

How Donald Trump and Roy Cohn’s Ruthless Symbiosis Changed America
By Marie Brenner
June 28, 2017

https://vanityfair.com/news/2017/06/donald-trump-roy-cohn-relationship

In 1973, a brash young would-be developer from Queens met one of New York’s premier power brokers: Roy Cohn, whose name is still synonymous with the rise of McCarthyism and its dark political arts. With the ruthless attorney as a guide, Trump propelled himself into the city’s power circles and learned many of the tactics that would inexplicably lead him to the White House years later.

Donald calls me 15 to 20 times a day,” Roy Cohn told me on the day we met. “He is always asking, ‘What is the status of this . . . and that?’ ”

It was 1980. I had been assigned to write a story on Donald Trump, the brash young developer who was then trying to make a name for himself in New York City, and I had come to see the man who, at the time, was in many ways Trump’s alter ego: the wily, menacing lawyer who had gained national renown, and enmity, for his ravenous anti-Communist grandstanding.

Trump was 34 and using the connections of his father, Brooklyn and Queens real-estate developer Fred Trump, as he navigated the rough-and-tumble world of political bosses. He had recently opened the Grand Hyatt Hotel, bringing life back to a dreary area near Grand Central Terminal during a period when the city had yet to fully recover from near bankruptcy. His wife, Ivana, led me through the construction site in a white wool Thierry Mugler jumpsuit. “When will it be finished? When?,” she shouted at workers as she clicked through in stiletto heels.

The tabloids couldn’t get enough of the Trumps’ theatrics. And as Donald Trump’s Hyatt rose, so too did the hidden hand of his attorney Roy Cohn, always there to help with the shady tax abatements, the zoning variances, the sweetheart deals, and the threats to those who might stand in the project’s way.

Cohn was best known as a ruthless prosecutor. During the Red Scare of the 1950s, he and Wisconsin senator Joe McCarthy, the fabulist and virulent nationalist crusader, had hauled dozens of alleged “Communist sympathizers” before a Senate panel. Earlier, the House Un-American Activities Committee had skewered artists and entertainers on similar charges, resulting in a trail of fear, prison sentences, and ruined careers for hundreds, many of whom had found common cause in fighting Fascism. But in the decades since, Cohn had become the premier practitioner of hardball deal-making in New York, having mastered the arcane rules of the city’s Favor Bank (the local cabal of interconnected influence peddlers) and its magical ability to provide inside fixes for its machers and rogues.

“You knew when you were in Cohn’s presence you were in the presence of pure evil,” said lawyer Victor A. Kovner, who had known him for years. Cohn’s power derived largely from his ability to scare potential adversaries with hollow threats and spurious lawsuits. And the fee he demanded for his services? Ironclad loyalty.

Trump—who would remain loyal to Cohn for many years—would be one of the last and most enduring beneficiaries of Cohn’s power. But as Trump would confide in 1980, he already seemed to be trying to distance himself from Cohn’s inevitable taint: “All I can tell you is he’s been vicious to others in his protection of me,” Trump told me, as if to wave away a stench. “He’s a genius. He’s a lousy lawyer, but he’s a genius.”

Remember that the NRA spent 30 million dollars to elect someone who supports gun control.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trump: Nation needs 'meaningful' firearms background checks

https://newsday.com/news/nation/trump-guns-background-checks-1.34823145

resident Donald Trump said Friday that the nation needs “meaningful background checks” for purchasers of firearms, throwing his support behind a gun-control measure that Republicans and the NRA have opposed for decades.

Speaking a week after two mass shootings took the lives of 31 people, Trump said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is “totally on board” and that the National Rifle Association also will support it or at least be neutral.

But McConnell has not backed any specific legislation yet and the NRA’s leader Wayne LaPierre dismissed many of the gun-control measures being discussed as “sound bite solutions” that would not work — reactions that led Democrats to express skepticism of Trump’s claims.

“Frankly, we need intelligent background checks,” Trump told reporters on the White House South Lawn before departing for fundraisers on Long Island. “We have tremendous support for really common sense important background checks.”

Trump also said he would support a “red flag” measure, possibly one being drafted by his ally Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) to give grants to states to pass laws creating a legal process to remove guns from people deemed dangerous.

Leaked Documents Show White House is Planning Executive Order to Censor the Internet

'Breaking: leaked documents show that the Trump administration is drafting an executive order that, if upheld by the courts, could essentially end free speech on the Internet. The draft order would put the FTC and the FCC, headed by its notoriously corrupt chairman Ajit Pai, in charge of monitoring and policing online speech on social media platforms, online forums, and more.

It would give these bureaucratic government agencies unprecedented control over how Internet platforms moderate speech by allowing them to revoke the essential protections Congress laid out in Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA). CDA 230 is the basic law that makes it possible for online platforms to let users post our own content, and to make basic decisions about what types of content they as private entities want to host. Every meme, every social media post, every blog and user-created video on the Internet has been made possible by this crucial free speech protection.

In practice, this executive order would mean that whichever political party is in power could dictate what speech is allowed on the Internet. If the government doesn’t like the way a private company is moderating content, they can shut their entire website down. The administration claims it’s trying to stop private companies from silencing speech—but this plan would create terrifying new censorship powers for the government to do just that. And the White House isn’t alone in promoting this misguided idea, some top Democrats have also called for weakening CDA 230.

The draft order has already been resoundingly condemned by First Amendment and free speech experts from across the political spectrum. Regardless of your politics, regardless of how you feel about the president, this is a terrible idea that will have the exact opposite impact of its stated purpose of protecting free speech.'

Trump CANCELS meeting with Danish PM after she refuses to discuss selling Greenland

'US President Donald Trump has cancelled a meeting with the Danish PM after she unequivocally shot down his dreams of purchasing resource-rich Greenland, a much-memed possibility about which the president was quite serious.

Trump thanked PM Mette Frederiksen for being “so direct” and sparing “a great deal of expense and effort” for both countries, which apparently have few pressing matters to discuss absent the gigantic and seemingly absurd real-estate purchase. The meeting, scheduled for two weeks into the future, would be postponed “for another time,” the president tweeted on Monday.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en">— Real Donald Trump (@realDonaldTrump Aug 21st 2019
Frederiksen refused to even entertain the possibility, calling the purchase “absurd” and explaining more than once that “Greenland is not for sale” - and that it isn’t Denmark’s to sell, anyway. Trump, for his part, has floated the idea of purchasing the landmass multiple times, musing that “it would be nice” for strategic purposes.'

The United States remains unwavering in its support to your commitment to deepen regional co-operation, and in particular to your efforts to normalize relations with Kosovo.

While it is up to the sides to achieve agreement they can both support, we consider that mutual recognition should be a central motive of permanent normalization of relations.

That 1946 offer was supposed to be a secret. (It was only widely revealed in 1991, when declassified documents were discovered by a Danish newspaper.) But in 1947, TIME caught a whiff of similar plans.

There was no word of the classified $100 million offer made by U.S. officials a year earlier, but TIME suggested that “military men” had considered writing off Denmark’s $70 million debt in return for Greenland.

Why is Greenland owned by Denmark, yet Iceland claims it as their territory?

Q1: Some basic info about why Greenland is owned by Denmark:

From 986, Greenland's west coast was settled by Icelanders and Norwegians, through a contingent of 14 boats led by Erik the Red. Later, Norse Greenlanders submitted to Norwegian rule in the 13th century under the Norwegian Empire, and later the Kingdom of Norway entered into a personal union with Denmark in 1380. When the union between the crowns of Denmark and Norway was dissolved in 1814, the Treaty of Kiel severed Norway's former colonies and left them under the control of the Danish monarch.

Norway occupied then-uninhabited eastern Greenland as Erik the Red's Land in July 1931, claiming that it constituted terra nullius. Norway and Denmark agreed to submit the matter in 1933 to the Permanent Court of International Justice, which decided against Norway.

When Denmark was occupied by Nazi-Germany the United States (April 8th, 1941) occupied Greenland to defend it against a possible invasion by Germany. Following World War II, the United States developed a geopolitical interest in Greenland, and in 1946 the United States offered to buy Greenland from Denmark for $100,000,000, but Denmark refused to sell it.

Q2: “[…] yet Iceland claims it as their territory”

Iceland doesn’t claim Greenland as their territory. There are however areas such as Jan Mayen, which Norway, Denmark (due to its ownership of Greenland) and Iceland have debated who is the rightful owner.

Liar-in-Chief Trump

All politicians lie, heads of state most notably because their prominent positions reach a large audience and get widesprea media coverage.

Trump exceeds the worst of his predecessors, operating in bad faith, never to be trusted.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

He broke virtually all positive pledges made to ordinary Americans, ones he doesn’t give a hoot about, treating them with contempt.

His MAGA agenda is all about serving wealth, power, and privileged interests exclusively, waging wars of aggression, color revolution attempts, and coup plots, aiming to replace legitimate governments with US-controlled puppet regimes.

Virtually nothing he says is credible. It’s simple to know when he’s lying. Read his lips.

Following G7 summit talks in Biarritz, France, he held a news conference with French President Macron.

His remarks featured a litany of meaningless mumbo-jumbo misinformation. Despite three days of talks achieving nothing, Trump called the summit “truly successful” — defying reality.

He falsely claimed “(t)here was tremendous unity…great unity…We were accomplishing a lot…(W)e were getting along very well.”

A separate article called G7 summits talking shop theater on the world stage alone, things agreed on arranged well in advance by senior and lower level officials.

Macron is widely reviled in France. Months earlier, his approval rating sank to 23%. Endless weeks of anti-neoliberal Yellow Vest protests highlight public disdain for his extremist pro-war, anti-social justice agenda.

Trump falsely called him “a spectacular leader.” He describes some of the world’s most ruthless despots the same way — notably the Saudi regime and Israel’s Netanyahu.

Asked if he’s concerned that his trade war with China can harm the global economy, Trump said “they want to make a deal very badly.”

President Xi wants an equitable deal respectful of China’s sovereign rights. He rejects unacceptable Trump regime demands — unlikely to soften enough to matter ahead, making the prospect for a deal unlikely ahead of the US November 2020 presidential and congressional elections.

Time and again, Trump exhibits geopolitical and economic ignorance. He fails to understand China’s steadfastness, its unwillingness to accept unreasonable US demands harming its own.

He falsely said “the longer they wait, the harder it is to” make a deal. They’re very doable when equitable to both sides — not the other way around with China for sure, the one-way type deal Trump regime hardliners seek.

He bragged about waging tariffs war, failing to acknowledge or understand harm done to the US and global economy.

“(I)f you look at the goods coming in from China, we’re talking about China, not other countries, if you look at the goods, they have a power that others don’t have, but that power is only good for so long,” he roared.

He falsely blamed Beijing for corporate America having offshored thousands of facilities to China and other low-wage countries, millions of US jobs lost by their actions.

He exaggerated changes in China’s currency. Most of what he said was misinformation and disinformation.

Example: “It’s a brilliant, brilliant market. The world market. A lot of markets are brilliant. And frankly, I think that China cannot, I don’t know, but maybe they can, maybe they can’t. I don’t think…they’re going to be able to compete.”

China’s model is very competitive, its economy growing. The larger it becomes, the lower the rate. No nations can sustain annual near-double-digit growth rates like China did for years.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

Its economy is too mature to sustain this rapid pace, its growth rate still way outpacing the US and other Western nations — the country heading toward becoming the world’s largest economy one day, a key reason why the US wants its development undermined.

Trump falsely claimed China may sustain millions of lost jobs, adding it’s “going to be magnified many times over, and it’s going to break down the Chinese system of trade.”

“…I think they want to make a deal. I’m not sure they have a choice.”

Beijing clearly has a choice it’ll surely take — to do nothing harming its development by accepting unacceptable US demands.

Trump doesn’t understand what may become crystal clear if his wrongheaded China policy thrusts the US and global economies into a stiff recession, making him a one-term president.

China want an end to US bullying. It firmly rejects anything smacking of submission to hostile US demands.

At the G7 summit over the past weekend, Trump said Chinese officials called Washington “twice” about resuming trade talks.

On Tuesday, the South China Morning Post reported that Beijing’s Foreign Ministry knows nothing about any week-end phone calls, explaining that contact between both countries is only at a “technical level.”

It’s unclear if or when trade talks will resume. Trump’s misinformation is further proof of his serial lying.

In June 2018, a Washington Post fact-checker tallied nearly 3,300 false statements from Trump since taking office. At that pace, he’d lie about 10,000 times by end of his term in January 2021.

Last April, the estimate was revised much higher. The broadsheet’s fact-checker tallied 10,111 falsehoods from Trump in 828 days — an astonishing total, likely way exceeding any of his predecessors, maybe all of them combined over a comparable period.

It bears testimony to someone never to be trusted. China’s Commerce Ministry said its last contact with a Trump regime official was on August 13.

Teams from both countries had 12 rounds of high-level talks since spring 2018 — accomplishing nothing.

Each time agreement seemed possible, the Trump regime raised the bar, falsely blaming China for its own bad faith.

Its official People’s Daily broadsheet said Trump fails to understand China’s determination to resist unacceptable White House demands, adding:

“Any attempts to force China to make concessions through extreme pressure will be in vain.”

Hostile US tactics against the country are all about wanting its development as a world power undermined — unrelated to the trade deficit favoring China, a Trump regime smokescreen, concealing its real objectives Beijing understands clearly.

On Monday, China’s Vice Premier/chief negotiator Liu He said “(w)e are willing to resolve the issue through consultations and cooperation with a calm attitude and resolutely oppose the escalation of the trade war.”

Beijing intends to stay the course for as long as it takes to preserve and protect its sovereign rights.

On issues mattering most, it won’t sacrifice them to unacceptable hegemonic US demands.

A Final Comment

Asked about Iran, Trump repeated long ago debunked US Big Lies about the country. State terror globally is how the US operates, not the Islamic Republic.

Some of Trump’s biggest Big Lies are about nonbelligerent/good neighbor Iran, seeking cooperative relations with other countries, threatening none.

He lied about an Iranian nuclear threat that doesn’t exist and never did. He lied about its (legitimate) ballistic missile program — solely for self-defense.

He lied about its threat to Israel and other nations. Unlike the US, Iran fulfills its international obligations.

President Rouhani and Foreign Minister Zarif made clear that no talks with the Trump regime will be held unless it returns to the JCPOA nuclear deal and lifts all illegally imposed sanctions.

It surely won’t happen as long as hardline extremists Pompeo and Bolton run Trump’s geopolitical agenda.

In New York met Director CIA Mike Pompeo ( currently on function in US Department of State ) and President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic

Secretary Pompeo encouraged Serbia to focus on this strategic goal by accelerating domestic reforms and resuming negotiations with Kosovo on a comprehensive normalization agreement centred on mutual recognition,” reads the statement.

The Secretary and President Vučić also discussed the shared bilateral vision of a stable, secure, and prosperous Western Balkans region, and continued U.S. support for Serbia’s goal of integration into the European Union.

US envoy to Serbia presents insults he receives via Twitter

The US ambassador to Serbia Kyle Scott said on Thursday that many people in the country believed that hating America was a good business and that they were daily bombed with the worst lies about his homeland and other Western countries, including the European Union, the Beta news agency reported.

Serbians know very well of U.S.'s actions in this part if the world, i dont think they need to be reminded of the friendship the 2 countries had 50+ years ago. Instead, the U.S. government and Americans who the majority of have no idea where Serbia even is in the map, should be reminded of that friendship, so that their foreign policy of destruction of the Serbian state and people which started in the 90's can stop. Instead of reminding Serbs that you were their friend 50 years ago, show them you are their friend TODAY.

We are our own worst enemy. It would only be too good if we could blame someone else for our fall. We do not know how to run our country, we behave as our motherland is not ours. The US, or any other country, are not obliged to their citizens to help Serbian citizens to finally grow up. We are not ready to take responsibility for our actions, we are not ready to set our priorities and goals and work towards them. For the last 30 years I have been watching us fighting against, instead of working for. Unfortunatelly, I cannot find anyone to hold responsible except us.

Trump fires John Bolton

https://cnn.com/2019/09/10/politics/trump-john-bolton-out/index.html

President Donald Trump abruptly announced in a tweet Tuesday that he has asked national security adviser John Bolton to resign, noting that he "strongly disagreed with many" of Bolton's suggestions "as did others in the administration."

"I thank John very much for his service. I will be naming a new National Security Advisor next week," Trump wrote.
The tweet came just one hour after the White House press office said Bolton was scheduled to appear at a Tuesday press briefing alongside Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin.

Bolton tweeted minutes after Trump's announcement, "I offered to resign last night and President Trump said, 'Let's talk about it tomorrow.'"
