Australia Wants To Be World’s Main Cannabis Exporter While Denying It To Its Citizens
http://www.naturalblaze.com/2018/03/australia-worlds-cannabis-exporter-denying-citizens.html

'Americans on the entire West Coast, Colorado, Alaska, and a few other states are enjoying fully legal, recreational cannabis finally. Many US states at least allow medical cannabis, and you don’t have to have cancer to get it. Australia is much different.

There simply isn’t as much of a culture surrounding cannabis in Australia. About 1 in 8 Americans smoke weed regularly according to statistics, and somewhere around 1 in 33 Australians regularly ingest cannabis. Spam_A Spam_B As if the tax revenue or business would even vaguely effect the lives of average Australians, Greg Hunt is promoting the idea of Australia becoming the world’s leading supplier of medical cannabis.

However, even medical cannabis is still nearly impossible to get in Australia. People who smoke are looked at as criminals for certain still: most people do not indulge in Australia.

“We’d like to be potentially the world’s number one supplier,” Health Minister of Australia Greg Hunt said in January.

Without much consideration to the citizens of Australia and cannabis, a director at investment firm Peak Asset Management Niv Dagan said this idea “opens the floodgates for further overseas investment into Australia.”'

UK could legalise cannabis in next five years say tycoons hoping to make a fortune out of a booming British pot industry
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5671389/UK-legalise-cannabis-five-years-say-tycoons.html

'Britain could be set to legalise cannabis in the next five years, say experts in the industry.

Investors are already setting their sights on the UK as a potential new market with business owners meeting to talk over plans.

Leading companies of the industry held a conference in Mayfair, London, on Thursday to discuss Britain’s likelihood of following Canada, Australia and numerous US states in relaxing their regulations.

Many of those presenting were from Canada with the country set to make recreational use of the drug fully legal by September this year, report Metro.co.uk. Spam_A Spam_B Max Zavet, founder of Canadian cannabis company Emblem, said: ‘We are very, very eager to get into the UK market.’

Emblem is one of 14 companies who were at the Cannabis Invest conference at the May Fair Hotel.

Mr Zavet believes there is a global shift of opinion happening towards the drug and that the UK government will soon have to catch up. He believes it will be legalised medically at first.'

Police threaten to ARREST Facebook users who mocked them over a post boasting that patrols had seized a tiny amount of cannabis from a youth in a nature reserve
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5715727/Police-threaten-ARREST-Facebook-users-mocked-post-tiny-cannabis.html

'Police officers threatened to arrest Facebook users who poked fun at their minuscule drugs bust after seizing a tiny amount of cannabis from a man sat in a car.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police posted about a 'small quantity' of cannabis they confiscated from a 'young man who was parked up alone' on Tuesday.

But their boast was met by a barrage of sarcastic and hilarious comments - which did not sit well with the officers and they threatened to prosecute the jokers. Spam_A Spam_B One person commented 'You're a clown', while another questioned 'did you fee the ducks... getting paid for a nice bike ride in the park.'

One user added: 'Hope you manage to nail Pablo Escobar this afternoon.'

The post was shared across social media with others commenting: 'Wow that's put a dent in the war on drugs lol.'

While many did stand up in support of the officers, Police Inspector Martin Moizer was still compelled to threaten ban some commentators and even threaten prosecuction.'

New York City Mayor Disobeys Feds—Orders NYPD To Stop Arresting People For Smoking Pot
http://thefreethoughtproject.com/nyc-mayor-orders-nypd-stop-arresting-people-smoking-marijuana-public/

'New York, NY – After multiple district attorneys in the state announced that they will refuse to prosecute people who are arrested for possessing marijuana, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio ordered the NYPD to stop arresting people for smoking marijuana in public.

Although small-time possession is not currently a jailable offense, people can still be arrested if they are caught smoking in public. Despite these recent changes with cannabis laws in the city, possession and public smoking can still carry a fine and court summons, and any changes to the NYPD’s policy in regards to public smoking will not take effect until the end of the summer. Spam_A Spam_B NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Public Information Phil Walzak confirmed with CNN that the department will be adopting this new policy.

Quote
“The working group is reviewing possession and public smoking of marijuana to ensure enforcement is consistent with the values of fairness and trust, while also promoting public safety and addressing community concerns,” Walzak said.

Last week, The Free Thought Project reported that New York City District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. announced that his office will refuse to prosecute people for possessing and smoking marijuana.

However, it is important to recognize that de Blasio is not necessarily a supporter of legalizing cannabis—he is simply a politician who is moving with the cultural tides, and making sure that he is able to benefit from the changes that are coming.

Quote
“With marijuana legalization likely to occur in our state in the near future, it is critical our city plans for the public safety, health and financial consequences involved. While I still have real concerns we must work through, it isn’t difficult to see where this is headed, and any responsible policymaker must prepare for that eventuality. My focus now will be helping to craft the critical regulatory framework that must come before legalization is realized,” de Blasio said.

Hard to justify having the largest police force in the United States if you end the war to control the drug trade.

Alcohol Companies Calling for Draconian Police State Measures to Combat Driving on WEED
http://thefreethoughtproject.com/alcohol-companies-police-state-measures-driving-weed/

The Governor’s Highway Safety Association calls itself “The States Voice on Highway Safety” and holds annual training meetings to indoctrinate law enforcement agencies all across the country. However, the GHSA should genuinely call itself “The Alcohol Industry’s Voice,” as its latest report is entirely funded by the alcohol industry in a blatant attempt to paint cannabis users as the real highway villains.
GHSA’s report was funded completely by the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibly (www.responsibility.org) and is titled “Drug-Impaired Driving: Marijuana and Opioids Raise Critical Issues for States.” The report was quickly broadcast across mainstream media outlets who are also largely funded by the alcohol industry’s advertisements. Curiously absent from the media coverage though was the fact the report was entirely paid for by Responsibility.org. Spam_A Spam_B GHSA’s report pins the blame for impaired driving deaths on cannabis and opioids. Listed in the report are a number of disturbing encouragements to law enforcement agencies:

  1. Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) for a “majority” of police officers

  2. Implementation of “oral fluid devices” to test for drugs

  3. Increasing the number of Drug Recognition Experts (DRE’s)

  4. Training of judges and prosecutors to enforce Driving Under the Influence of Drugs (DUID) laws

  5. Train officers to investigate drug impairment even when alcohol is suspected in DUI cases

  6. Authorize electronic search warrants for drug tests

  7. Penalize people when they refuse drug tests

  8. Require blood testing for drugs

  9. Establishment of DUID laws equivalent to DUI laws

  10. Drug-testing fatally injured drivers as well as any and all surviving drivers where a fatality has occurred

Nearly all of the “recommendations,” if implemented, will lead to increased mass incarceration of the U.S. populace, which already has the largest prison population in the world. The recommendations could lead to more completely innocent and unimpaired drivers being jailed by, as The Free Thought Project has reported on numerous occasions, so-called Drug Recognition Experts.'

Legalising cannabis ‘could earn Treasury £3.5 billion’
http://www.theguardian.com/society/2018/jun/02/legalise-cannabis-treasury-3bn-drugs

'Introducing a legal cannabis market to the UK could earn the Treasury between £1bn and £3.5bn a year in tax revenues, a report has suggested.

Health Poverty Action, an international development organisation, claims that regulating and legalising cannabis in the UK is an “idea whose time has come” and that the windfall could be used to plug the gap in the NHS budget.

“Prohibition has failed,” said the group’s advocacy officer, Natasha Horsfield. “From our perspective, it’s about regulating the market to improve public health outcomes and create a safer environment. But we can see the potential benefits from a taxation perspective if we were to regulate it.” Spam_A Spam_B Support for such a move is growing. Both the Lib Dems and the Greens favour a regulated cannabis market, but the two main parties remain unenthusiastic.

In 2013, Uruguay became the first country to legalise cannabis. Last year New Zealand pledged to hold a cannabis referendum within three years.

But it is moves in North America that could really presage a change in UK policy. A bill that would make Canada the first G7 country to legalise marijuana is making its way through parliament in Ottawa. In the US, nine states, including Colorado and Washington, have legalised cannabis for non-medical use.'

Legalizing cannabis would pay for the NHS – non-profit report
http://www.rt.com/uk/428636-legalizing-cannabis-weed-nhs/

'The UK “can’t afford” to ignore the lucrative benefits of legalizing cannabis, an international development organization has warned, claiming the class-B drug could earn the economy up to £3.5 billion ($4.7 billion) a year.

While Westminster is at loggerheads over the much-debated issue of legalizing the drug for medical purposes, a new report published on Saturday by Health Poverty Action sets out huge economic and social benefits that the country could yield from cannabis tax income.

Martin Drewry, director of the non-profit Health Poverty Action, said: “This week Canada will become the first G7 country to vote to legalize and regulate cannabis, it is clear that the war on drugs has failed and that responsible regulation protecting public health is the way forward.” Spam_A Spam_B The report argues that the money gained by legalizing cannabis could be used to support public services. It singled out the NHS, which is facing an unprecedented staff and funding crisis, claiming that revenue from cannabis taxation could write off the service’s £1 billion ($1.3 billion) deficit.

“And with the NHS on the brink, this kind of tax revenue is hard to ignore. The time has come for the UK to catch up with this global shift – we really cannot afford to be left behind,” Drewry said.

The research also dismissed the idea that legalization would increase consumption among young people.

“The early indications from the US states where the newly regulated markets are most developed, are that teenage use of cannabis has not risen, as opponents of legalization had feared; whilst at the same time new cannabis taxes are bringing in vital revenues to help fund public services,” the study's authors state.'

Oklahoma becomes 30th state to legalise marijuana
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/marijuana-oklahoma-primary-results-2018-election-medical-cannabis-legal-vote-a8419736.html

'Oklahoma has voted to legalise medical marijuana, making it the 30th state to do so.

Individuals 18 and older will be able to obtain a medical marijuana license with a board-certified physician's signature. Minors also can get a license with the approval of a parent or legal guardian signatures from two doctors.

The measure does not tie medical marijuana to any qualifying conditions, unlike many other states that have passed the measure. This will simplify the process to obtain cannabis for medicinal uses. Spam_A Spam_B State Question 788, the legalization of medical marijuana, passed with 57 per cent of the vote, while 43 per cent opposed it.

"I respect the will of the voters in any question placed before them to determine the direction of our state," Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin said in a statement. "It is our responsibility as state leaders to look out for the health and safety of Oklahoma citizens."

Governor Fallin said she stood by her stance that "this new law is written so loosely that it opens the door for basically recreational marijuana." House Majority Leader Jon Echols said applications to acquire permits could be out as soon as the end of August.'

Coca-Cola explores entering cannabis market with 'wellness beverage'
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/coca-cola-weed-cannabis-marijuana-drink-aurora-cbd-wellness-buyout-a8542256.html

'The Coca-Cola Company has revealed it is “closely watching” the development of cannabis drinks as it mulls whether to enter the market with a non-psychoactive product.

The beverage giant’s announcement came following reports it was in talks with Canadian marijuana company Aurora Cannabis to create drinks infused with cannabidiol (CBD).

Coca-Cola said it was considering a move into the market in order to use CBD as an ingredient in “wellness” products, but had made no formal decision on whether to invest.

Shares of Aurora were up nearly 17 per cent on the Toronto Stock Exchange on the report.

“We have no interest in marijuana or cannabis,” Coca-Cola said in a statement issued on Monday.

“Along with many others in the beverage industry, we are closely watching the growth of non-psychoactive CBD as an ingredient in functional wellness beverages around the world.

“The space is evolving quickly. No decisions have been made at this time.”

Unlike other chemical compounds found in cannabis, such as THC, CBD does not cause intoxicating effects on users.

It can however be used for a number of medical purposes, including to ease pain associated with multiple sclerosis and in the treatment of various types of childhood epilepsy.

Coca-Cola’s interest in the cannabis industry is another indication of the growing acceptance of the plant by established companies.'

Patients warned not to inundate GPs with requests for medicinal cannabis after UK laws on drug are relaxed
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6344335/Patients-told-not-inundate-doctors-requests-medicinal-cannabis.html

'Patients were warned yesterday not to inundate GPs with requests for medicinal cannabis as rules on the drug were relaxed.

Doctors are now able to prescribe cannabis products – but GPs have been advised to refer patients to a specialist instead of handing out prescriptions.

The new rules follow several high-profile cases – including those of epilepsy sufferers Alfie Dingley, seven, and Billy Caldwell, 13 – in which patients' conditions appeared to have been helped by cannabis oil.

NHS guidelines say prescriptions should only be made when other treatment options have been exhausted. Spam_A Spam_B They are only likely to be granted for those with nausea from chemotherapy or muscle stiffness caused by multiple sclerosis, or rare and severe forms of epilepsy.

Professor Helen Stokes-Lampard, head of the Royal College of GPs, said: 'The treatments that have become legal today will only be able to be prescribed by specialists, for example consultant neurologists or paediatricians, if they have a patient with an unmet clinical need.'

She said the changes 'will affect a relatively small number of patients, many of whom will likely already be known by their specialist doctor', adding: 'GPs will not be able to prescribe patients medicinal cannabis.'

Despite Big Pharma’s Heavy Lobbying, Cannabis Legalization Efforts in US Make New Gains

'While Democrats and Republicans went toe-to-toe for control of Congress, voters across three states voted to relax marijuana laws, resulting in a huge victory for the grassroots decriminalization and legalization movement.

With medical marijuana already legal in Michigan for several years, voters passed a ballot proposal on Tuesday to legalize recreational marijuana possession with 55 percent in favor of the measure. The measure made Michigan the first Midwestern state, and the tenth state within the U.S., to legalize recreational cannabis.

Efforts in Michigan paid off thanks to a group called Coalition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol. Although the measure passed by a relatively wide margin, legalization faced stiff opposition from a group known as Healthy and Productive Michigan which seeks to push local municipalities to prohibit sales by focusing on the federal ban on cannabis.

The new laws, which are set to take effect in roughly ten days, allow Michigan residents 21 and over to possess, use, buy, and grow marijuana. The next step in terms of organizational efforts will focus on expunging the criminal records of anyone with non-violent marijuana possession charges. Between 20,000 and 24,550 people are arrested on marijuana-related charges in Michigan each year, with charges disproportionately targeting young black males.

Missouri and surprisingly Utah also passed cannabis-friendly ballot measures on Tuesday.

Missouri residents endorsed Amendment 2, which favors the cultivation of medical marijuana which would result in a 4% tax on all transactions. Unlike Michigan, Missouri faced relatively no opposition.

Key legislators in Utah reportedly planned to pass medical marijuana legislation regardless of Tuesday’s results thanks to overwhelming support from the Mormon church.

Unfortunately, North Dakota’s Measure 3 didn’t win over enough voters to pass, with nearly 60% voting against legalization legislation similar to Michigan’s. Measure 3 also would have expunged the records of citizens charged with non-violent marijuana offenses.'

It’s ‘Killing People Everyday’: FOX Pushes Insane Anti-Weed Propaganda in Ridiculous 90-Second Clip
https://thefreethoughtproject.com/fox-and-friends-sheriff-reefer-madness-marijuana/

'Fox News is no stranger to hating on weed. In fact, the Free Thought Project has reported on their insane reefer madness several times before. However, on this Monday’s episode of Fox & Friends, the propaganda and utter lies hit a new high—no pun intended.

On Monday, Fox and Friends was covering the story out of Mulberry, Florida in which a 12-year-old kid handed out THC gummies in a gym class at his middle school last week. At least five of his classmates went to the hospital with symptoms one would expect from a child ingesting marijuana—such as stomach pain, dizziness, and nausea.

Local media ran with the story, claiming all the kids were hospitalized and made it seem like it was the end of the world. And, while it is certainly a terrible idea for a child to eat a THC gummy, it is most assuredly not the end of the world—as marijuana has never killed anyone, ever. All the kids are now fine and the child who gave them the gummies faces seven felony charges for possessing and distributing marijuana. Spam_A Spam_B After hyping up fear about the kids eating gummies, the folks at Fox & Friends went on to demonize marijuana in general. As if he had channeled the ghost of Henry Anslinger, Fox & Friends co-host, Brian Kilmeade began spewing ignorant lies and assertions, straight out of the 1930’s.

“No one talks about this — THC is addicting,” Kilmeade said. “I know so many people, they say they were told one thing and they end up getting addicted to it. That is an addicting substance. There is a price to pay for pot.”'

As Hemp Legalized, Facebook Now Banning Hemp Pages in Apparent Move to Protect Big Pharma
http://thefreethoughtproject.com/facebook-bans-hemp-pages-pharma/

'Because government is the antithesis to freedom, industrial hemp has been banned nationwide since 1937 ostensibly due to the plant’s similarities to marijuana. Many have speculated that this move was also due to the fact that cannabis is in direct competition with the pharmaceutical industry by providing far safer alternative treatments as wel. However, all this changed this month after President Donald Trump signed the Agriculture Improvement act of 2018, legalizing industrial hemp on a national scale.

Industrial hemp is once again legal in all 50 states but its legalization has set off a new disturbing trend. In a move that appears to be a give away to big pharma, Facebook has begun banning hemp pages. Spam_A Spam_B Just as the farm bill was passed by the House and Senate earlier this month, the page for hemp grower “Franny’s Farmacy” was banned.

“We had that up for about the first month, got a few thousand followers, it was great, it was really driving sales, then it disappeared,” co-owner Franny Tacy said.

The reason Facebook gave them for banning their hemp page was utterly bogus too. The social media giant claimed that Franny was “Promoting the sale of prescription pharmaceuticals.”

“Being an ex-pharmaceutical rep, there is no way we posted anything that violates Facebook’s terms of service,” says Tacy. “We make no claims, we make no recommendations … but we do use the words hemp and CBD and those seem to be becoming trigger words as well.”

Days after being banned, Franny started a new page which began amassing new followers, but after just four days, it was taken down too. This time, Facebook accused Franny and Jeff Tacy of “encouraging drug use.” They sell no drugs whatsoever.'

Medical benefits of cannabis SUPPRESSED and banned throughout most of the 20th century
http://www.naturalnews.com/2019-01-20-medical-benefits-of-cannabis-suppressed.html

'One of the most misunderstood botanicals in modern times, cannabis sativa, more popularly known as “marijuana,” has been used since the beginning of time as a natural medicine – except, of course, for most of the 20th century all throughout the “civilized” West, including in the United States and Canada where it’s been outlawed since the 1930s.

Up until that time, however, nobody thought twice about cannabis, which was readily available at pharmacies, and could be freely grown by anyone without fear of arrest or imprisonment. It was only when “reefer madness” suddenly hit the scene and started to spread like a plague that this miraculous, seed-bearing plant was deemed “evil” by government entities that, right around this time and not coincidentally, began pushing synthetic pharmaceuticals as the “new” medicine. By making cannabis “illegal,” governments of the West paved the way for Big Pharma to take over and declare its poisons as the only safe and effective medicine out there – “medicine” that, in some cases, was derived and synthesized from the very same cannabis plant that, under Schedule I designation, was deemed to have no legitimate medical use.

“Banned in England, Canada and the U.S. in the 1930s, medical cannabis represents the first casualty in a war against natural medicine waged by the pharmaceutical industry,” writes Dr. Jeffrey Dach, M.D., for GreenMedInfo about the history of cannabis.

“Even today research efforts are suppressed by our own government. Over the last two decades, there have been major scientific breakthroughs in cannabis research outside the U.S. in Israel, Spain, Italy and Brazil. These breakthroughs have made cannabis ‘the wonder drug of the 21st century.'”

Massive Harvard Study Contradicts Anti-Pot Propaganda Told To Us For Decades
http://www.naturalblaze.com/2019/02/massive-harvard-study-contradicts-anti-pot-propaganda-told-to-us-for-decades.html

'For decades anti-marijuana and even pro-marijuana advocates have repeated a narrative about the potentially negative effects associated with smoking marijuana and the male sperm count. Smoking weed, we were told, decreases your ability to produce sperm. However, an extensive study published by none other than Harvard researchers this week, reveals quite the opposite may be happening.

The study, titled: “Marijuana smoking and markers of testicular function among men from a fertility centre,” was published on Wednesday in the journal Human Reproduction. The study posed the question of “Is marijuana smoking associated with semen quality, sperm DNA integrity or serum concentrations of reproductive hormones among subfertile men?”

The answer was surprising as it directly contradicted their expected result based on previously held beliefs and found that marijuana use did indeed appear to have a positive effect on sperm count.

“Our findings were contrary to what we initially hypothesized,” said Feiby Nassan, Ph.D., the study’s lead author and research fellow at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. The study consisted of examining 662 subfertile men who were enrolled at the Massachusetts General Hospital Fertility Center between 2000 and 2017.

“The men provided a total of 1143 semen samples; 317 men also provided blood samples in which we measured reproductive hormones,” according to the study.

The men self-reported the use of marijuana. Interestingly, whether or not they had smoked it recently or a decade ago did not appear to affect the results. The study’s authors found that men who simply smoked weed at least once in their lives had a significantly higher sperm count than the men who never partook in the plant.

These findings, according to the team, “are not consistent with a deleterious effect of marijuana on testicular function.” The researchers noted that because they found the opposite of what they were looking for, further studies are recommended to confirm their findings.

The study also found that the amount of weed smoked by men is important and noted this as a possible explanation for why they discovered this increase in sperm count—because no one has ever examined the sperm count in men who’ve only smoked once or twice in their lives.

“However, they are consistent with two different interpretations,” said Nassan, “the first being that low levels of marijuana use could benefit sperm production because of its effect on the endocannabinoid system, which is known to play a role in fertility, but those benefits are lost with higher levels of marijuana consumption.”'

World Health Organization Admits Medical Benefits Of Cannabis — Moves To Change 1954 Policy
http://www.naturalblaze.com/2019/02/world-health-organization-admits-medical-benefits-of-cannabis-moves-to-change-1954-policy.html

'It took them 60+ years, but the World Health Organization seems to finally be buckling under the weight of evidence that shows the range of benefits to global health offered by cannabis products.

The organization appears to be ready to take a two-fold approach to rescheduling cannabis for both THC-based products as well as non-THC cannabidiol products. The WHO proposition appeared in a February 5, 2019 post:

Quote
The World Health Organization has proposed rescheduling cannabis within international law to take account of the growing evidence for medical applications of the drug, reversing its position held for the past 60 years that cannabis should not be used in legitimate medical practice.

The WHO Expert Committee on Drug Dependence met late last year to critically review available evidence on cannabis and related substances and to agree the most appropriate level of international control. (Source: BMJ)

The first major change would be to reduce the absurd Schedule IV categorization for the psychoactive component of marijuana, THC, which currently stands as the equivalent to heroin and a whole host of other truly addictive and dangerous substances. The second change is even more significant as the WHO has now made it clear that products in a non-THC form such as extracts should be removed completely from international drug controls.'

California’s legal weed industry ‘on the verge of collapse’ over licensing woes
http://www.rt.com/usa/452492-california-cannabis-industry-collapse/

'California’s legal cannabis industry – the largest of its kind in the world – is reportedly at serious risk of collapse because the state cannot keep up with the demand for licenses.

The state published an emergency Senate Bill on Tuesday to keep the thousands of cannabis farms open while they await permanent licensing from the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), which is struggling to keep up with the demand. Temporary licenses cannot be extended without this change to legislature.

If the current state of affairs continues, thousands of temporary licenses are due to expire in the coming months. The chief danger of California running out of legal cannabis is that consumers will ultimately turn back to the black market.

Since California legalized cannabis in November 2016, the CDFA has issued only nine annual cannabis farm licenses, while 39 permanent license applications are currently pending payment of the up to $44,000 license fee.

“The world’s largest legal cannabis industry is on the verge of collapse,” warned Lauren Mendelsohn, an associate at Figueroa’s law offices, to Leafly.com. The CFDA told Leafly they are working “as quickly as possible” to process applications and blamed inaccurate or incomplete applications for stalling the process.'

Medical TYRANNY: Cops raid cancer patient’s hospital room because he was using cannabis oil to successfully treat cancer symptoms
http://www.naturalnews.com/2019-03-13-medical-tyranny-cops-raid-cancer-patients-hospital-room-cannabis-oil.html

'In the latest example of law enforcement resources being ridiculously misused, police raided the hospital room of a man dying from cancer in search of marijuana.

The incident took place at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri, where Nolan Sousley was receiving treatment for pancreatic cancer. The Stage 4 cancer patient has been taking capsules of THC oil on his own to help manage pain as a safer alternative to opioids.

A medical marijuana bill recently passed in Missouri, but the new regulations are not yet in place. Unfortunately, when you’re facing pancreatic cancer, time is not on your side, so Sousley decided not to wait for formalities. He says the pills also help with his nausea and appetite. According to Sousley, his doctors are aware that he takes the pills, but he does not smoke marijuana.

Yet somehow, a hospital security guard reported smelling marijuana in his room and called the police, who responded by coming to his small hospital room and rifling through all of his bags as they searched for marijuana that they never found.'
