UN once again urges Israel to withdraw from entirety of Syria’s Golan Heights

'The majority of the United Nations General Assembly has adopted a resolution urging the Israeli regime to withdraw from the entirety of the Syrian Golan Heights it occupied some half a century ago.

The resolution, titled The Syrian Golan, was adopted by a record vote of 99 in favor, 10 against and 66 abstentions on a Friday session, declaring that the Israeli controversial move to extend its laws, jurisdiction and administration on the occupied mountainous plateau is null and void and calling on the Tel Aviv regime to pull out from the strategically-important territory.

In 1967, the Israeli regime waged a full-scale war against Arab territories, including those of Syria, and occupied a large swathe of Syria’s Golan Heights.

In 1973, another war, known as the Arab-Israeli War or the Yom Kippur War, broke out between the Israeli regime and a coalition of Arab states led by Egypt and Syria. A year later, a UN-brokered ceasefire came into force, according to which the Israeli regime and the Syrian government agreed to separate their troops, and create a buffer zone patrolled by the UN Disengagement and Observer Force (UNDOF).

In late 1981, Israel passed the Golan Heights Law that extended the regime’s “laws, jurisdiction and administration” to the Golan Heights, effectively annexing the territory to Israel.

A few days after the law’s passage in Israel’s Knesset, UN Security Council Resolution 497 determined the law as “null and void and without international legal effect.”'

In 1981 when Israel officially annexed Syria’s Golan Heights after occupying it following the Six Day War, the United States under President Ronald Reagan voted unanimously with the UN Security Council to condemn the Israeli theft of around 1,800 square kilometers.

Desperate Netanyahu May Have Another War in Mind to Retain Power

Netanyahu faces a double threat - possible defeat at the polls in April and/or conviction and imprisonment on charges of bribery, breach of trust and fraud. Strong evidence may take him down.

He’ll be formally indicted by Attorney General  Avichai Mandelblit once a required hearing is held – possibly not until after April 9 elections – called by Netanyahu, believing he’d be reelected, hoping a mandate would save him.

When in serious trouble, strategy often dictates changing the subject. Undeclared Israeli war on Gaza has raged for the past year, causing around 250 Palestinian deaths, over 26,000 wounded, many seriously.

Along with live fire used on peaceful demonstrators threatening no one, frequent land, sea and aerial attacks are launched on defenseless Palestinians - ignored by the world community, Israel able to commit mass murder and much more unaccountably.

Since Thursday, Israeli warplanes terror-bombed the Strip - on the phony pretext of responding to mortar fire and what the Netanyahu regime falsely called “continuing terror activities from the Strip.”

On Thursday, Netanyahu threatened Hamas with a “very vigorous response” over nonexistent cross-border “aggression.” It’s one-way, launched from the Israeli side. Facing a double threat to remaining in power, he’s likely to take extreme measures. According to the Jerusalem Post, he doesn’t “rule out a major IDF operation in Gaza.”

At his Sunday cabinet meeting, he warned Hamas, saying: “Do not test us. We will do everything we need to do to bring about quiet.”

He lied claiming “we have seen violence by rogue groups from the Gaza Strip, but it does not absolve Hamas. We respond by attacking (its) targets. I heard that people in Gaza are saying that because of our upcoming elections, a large operation won’t happen.”

If threatened with losing power, he may order “a large (no-risk muscle-flexing) operation” to show his macho, Palestinian bloodshed and destruction serving his interests.

Allying with two extremist hate-mongering groups to bolster his coalition was an act of desperation. Critics called the moves “endorsing Jewish fascism,” comparing them to “welcoming the Ku Klux Klan into an American” regime.

According to Haaretz columnist Amir Oren, he “could not care less about his image. (He’s) fighting for survival,” on the ropes, vulnerable to political defeat and/or imprisonment.

A newly formed centrist co-called Blue/White alliance may defeat Likudniks he heads in April. Prosecution and conviction may get him imprisoned.

Maybe he has another Gaza war in mind to change the subject - pre-or-post election. His thinking may be that desperate times call for desperate measures.

Fabricating a pretext for war is simple. Ehud Olmert did it in December 2008. Netanyahu took the step twice - in November 2012, again in July 2014, premeditated naked aggression on defenseless Gazans each time.

Is a fourth war on the Strip coming in the weeks or months ahead? Put nothing past Netanyahu and other Ziofascist extremists running Israel - knowing Big Brother USA supports whatever they do no matter how lawless.

US drops 'Israeli-occupied' from Syria's Golan Heights and Palestinian territories

http://davidicke.com/article/526535/us-drops-israeli-occupied-syrias-golan-heights-palestinian-territories

'The US state department has referred to the Syrian Golan Heights and the Palestinian territories as "Israeli-controlled", a move that may signal a break from Washington's longstanding refusal to recognise Israeli sovereignty over areas it has occupied and unilaterally annexed.

In a human rights report released on Wednesday, the department failed to refer to the Golan Heights and the West Bank as occupied territories.

That points to a "continuation of the US administration's hostile approach to Palestinian people", said senior Palestinian Authority official Nabil Abu Rudeineh.

He said that the US designation does not change the fact that the Golan Heights remains an Israeli-occupied, Arab territory under international law and UN Security Council resolutions, Palestinian news agency Wafa reported on Wednesday.

In past years, the state department described the southern Syrian territory that overlooks the Sea of the Galilee, as "Israeli occupied", a designation that was dropped from this year's edition of the report.

The document also suggests that the entire city of Jerusalem is a part of Israel.

"This section includes Israel, including Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights," the preface to the report's Israel chapter reads.

A state department official, Michael Kozak, sought to downplay the significance of the report's phrasing, saying the designation of territories as occupied is a "legal status issue", not a human rights matter.'

West Bank next on US recognition list, Nasrallah warns

'Hezbollah warns that the United States could next choose to recognize Israel’s “sovereignty” over the Tel Aviv-occupied West Bank unless the Arab world springs to action.

The Lebanese resistance movement’s Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah issued the caution during a speech on Tuesday.

Quote
“When the entire world allows [US President Donald] Trump to declare [Jerusalem] al-Quds as Israel’s eternal capital, and especially the Arab world remains silent, this opens the way for all US violations,” he said.

"When institutions and International laws fail to serve the American agenda and their interest, they just simply disregard it in all disrespect, and what is called 'the international community' is not able to protect any right of the people whatsoever, including land ownership and sovereignty, taking back conquered land like what happened in Golan or what happened before that in (Jerusalem) al-Quds," Nasrallah said.

Trump recognized the holy city, which the Israeli regime occupied as part of the Palestinian territory of the West Bank during a war in 1967, as Israel’s “capital” in late 2017. On Monday, the US president took his second most controversial pro-Israeli action during his tenure by recognizing the regime’s “sovereignty” over Syria’s Golan Heights. Tel Aviv occupied the latter territory during the same war. “We must expect Trump to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank,” Nasrallah added.

He said such a potential move “is part of the deal of the century,” referring to an under-wraps Washington proposal for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which reportedly includes outrageous violations against Palestinians’ historical demands.

“They can say the Palestinian people can go and live in Gaza,” the Hezbollah chief said, envisioning expulsion of Palestinians from the West Bank as part of the US plan.

He urged the Arab world to resort to what “conscience” it had left by preventing these prospects.

The Arab League, Nasrallah proposed, should use its upcoming summit in Tunisia to withdraw the so-called Arab peace initiative, proposed by Saudi Arabia in 2002, and instead press for more negotiation.

The initiative offers normalization of ties between Israel and 22 Arab countries in return for Tel Aviv’s withdrawal from the West Bank.'
