Without the police, we'd be sitting on the front porch 24/7 with a shotgun to defend against marauders.

Then where's the sheriff? You really want to call the incorporated city police? And what, we're not armed to the teeth already?

Police need accountability and community relations. Blue lines are really separating government/corporate interests from the general public interests.

There is an inequality of application of rule of law. Enforcers should be subject to the same as the enforced. That includes severe penalties for lying under oath.

Fortress White House: Tall black fences go up around 1600 Pennsylvania Ave ahead of huge Saturday protest with
ONE MILLION expected as DC Mayor renames 16th street outside as 'Black Lives Matter Plaza'

Tall black fences, between seven and nine feet, have sprung up around the perimeter of the White House as protesters have demonstrated over the death of George Floyd
Americans have also been angry after peaceful crowds were cleared with tear gas and rubber bullets so President Trump could have a photo-op outside St John's Church at Lafayette Square
Lafayette Square, which is usually accessible to the public, has been walled off by new fencing
Also now being fenced in is the Ellipse, a 50-acre park behind the White House that has often been referred to as the Nation's front year
Many compared the new fencing to the wall Trump pledged to build on the US-Mexico land border
Trump has referred to himself as a 'law-and-order' president and face criticism for calling on the military to defend DC against so-called rioters
DC Mayor Muriel Bowser commissioned a 'Black Lives Matter' mural down 16th Street, which leads to the White House, ahead of a planned weekend protest
A portion of the street, where Trump had his photo-op, has also been renamed 'Black Lives Matter Plaza'

U.S. Park Police Chief Says No Tear Gas Was Used on Washington D.C. Protesters Before Trump's Church Visit
By Jeffery Martin On 6/2/20 at 6:01 PM EDT

Acting Chief Gregory T. Monahan of the United States Park Police said officers did not use tear gas against protesters near the White House on Monday, according to a statement released Tuesday.

Reports of officers using tear gas against protesters in Lafayette Park circulated Monday, with many saying the demonstrators were expelled from the area to make way for a photo opportunity by President Donald Trump at St. John's Episcopal Church.

According to Tuesday's statement, the USPP was assisting the United States Secret Service with the installation of temporary fencing inside the park. Protesters, however, "became more combative, continued to throw projectiles, and attempted to grab officers' weapons."

While pepper balls and smoke canisters were used against the protesters, "no tear gas was used by USSP officers or other assisting law enforcement partners to close the area at Lafayette Park."

Protests in Lafayette Park began to turn violent at 6:33 p.m., according to the USSP. President Trump delivered his remarks at 6:43 p.m. according to a transcript of his address found on the White House website.

Trump Walk Over To St. John's Church With The Military After Fire

After his speech, the president walked through Lafayette Park to the historic church that was closed and boarded up after the violence on Sunday. He stood for a few moments with members of his cabinet and White House staff.

The president also stood and held up a Bible in front of the church.

During his speech at the White House, Trump noted that the church was lit on fire in the basement and that the Lincoln Memorial and the World War II memorial were desecrated with graffiti in Washington, DC.

The president also pointed to a man in Dallas, Texas who was beaten by a mob and left for dead in the streets, and a woman attacked in Rochester, New York by “dangerous thugs.” He also mentioned the death of a black federal officer, Patrick Underwood, who was shot and killed in Oakland, California.

“These are not acts of peaceful protest. These are acts of domestic terror,” Trump said. ” The destruction of innocent life and the spilling of innocent blood is an offense to humanity and a crime against God.”

Trump vowed to restore the rule of law and protect business owners who were suffering the impact of the looting and wanton property destruction.

“We have one beautiful law. And once that is restored and fully restored, we will help you, we will help your business, and we will help your family,” Trump said.

Barry Diller Says Amazon "Not A Monopoly", Dismisses Quarterly Guidance As "Dumbass" Work
Fri, 06/05/2020 - 13:31

Less than a day after Tesla CEO Elon Musk accused Amazon of being a monopoly and called for its breakup,
Expedia Chairman Barry Diller said he disagreed with Musk's assessment, but agreed that 'smart' regulations are probably warranted for tech giants, including another heavyweight that probably more closely resembles a monopoly.

That company, Diller says, is Google parent Alphabet, which Diller implied might someday obtain "monopoly status."

At least 10,000 people died in Tiananmen Square massacre, secret British cable from the time alleged

Secret document suggested death toll was much higher than later reported, while claiming wounded students were bayoneted as they begged for their lives and the burnt remains of victims were 'hosed down the drains'

The death toll from the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre was at least 10,000 people, killed by a Chinese army unit whose troops were likened to “primitives”, a secret British diplomatic cable alleged.

The newly declassified document, written little more than 24 hours after the massacre, gives a much higher death toll than the most commonly used estimates which only go up to about 3,000.

It also provides horrific detail of the massacre, alleging that wounded female students were bayoneted as they begged for their lives, human remains were “hosed down the drains”, and a mother was shot as she tried to go to the aid of her injured three-year-old daughter.

Written on 5 June 1989 by Sir Alan Donald, the then-British ambassador to China, the hitherto secret cable has now been placed in the UK National Archives at Kew, where it was found by the news website HK01.
Considering that Trump is deploying the army to crush an uprising this is kinda hilarious.
