I'm gonna start a casual search for what was fired in the Vegas shooting. I say casual because I've already spent too much time looking into this sickening crap already and there's going to be many more days worth of looking into this.

I guess I'll start with this. It's going to take a lot of time anyway. I think figuring out what exactly was fired is very important in all of this. I want to look into how these different ammunitions and guns sound, their exit wounds, everything.

I'll start with this video on penetration. It's .223, 5.56, and 7.62. I've only fired semi-automatic .223 and a 7.62 Mosin Nagant magazine once. I'm more experienced with handguns, so any one else with more experience please help out identifying the guns and ammunition used during this. I believe this is very important in figuring out the lies floating around everywhere.

I am a retired shooter, but not firearms.

Couple of things bug the heck out of me. For a start, I'm addicted to WW2 Docs since I could walk, and that sure sounded like a o.50 cal heavy machine gun, belt fed and water cooled....

I think its called the M2-Browning.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M2_Browning

Like I said, not expert...
But it sure sounded like one, and it would fit with the evidence, like shrapnel wounds. Because half inch sized industrial machine guns do that kinda thing on ricochet, where as small arms not so likely.

As for which video sounds like a heavy machine gun, how about when the taxi driver pulls up outside the mandalay and its a big bass thump thump thump . . .
Sorry to ramble, not expert, had to say something.

You've got a good point here. I've been hit by shrapnel while shooting crappy bullets. A high caliber ricocheting off cement could easily cause shrapnel wounds. We have to see or hear about exit wounds people saw and keep an ear out for shrapnel wounds.

Just as I posted that a caller from Vegas reported a friend with shrapnel wounds to her hand...

Fully automatic AK-47. It's susceptible to human rates of fire, unlike what I've heard from the cabby video which was mechanical with an exponential decrease in the rate of fire.

From the pitch and cadence, some of the shooting sounded like it was from a belt fed machine gun like a GPMG/M60 (not high calibre like 30 or 50 cal), but most of the audio I have heard sounded like small arms. I'm not an 'expert' but I'm familiar with what they sound like.

However, firing a heavy machine gun into a crowd of 20000, from a good position, would have probably caused more deaths than 59..so maybe it was not a good position.

If you look at the picture at the top of the above article, the weapon in the top left of the image looks like it could be a heavy machine gun.

I'm not sure what that is really.

Ok the sound that makes me wonder the most, is the end of the clip, belt, volley, w/e at 5:15 til 5:35 in this video. Listen to the rate of fire, how many rounds, and the mechanical rhythm of how it comes to a stop (that I've been describing as an exponential decrease in the rate of fire.)
