Maduro orders ‘total revision’ of Venezuela-US diplomatic ties after Pence calls for regime change
http://www.rt.com/news/449458-venezuela-maduro-us-relations-pence/

'Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has ordered a revision of diplomatic relations with the US after the White House has openly urged the opposition to unite and overthrow the “dictator with no legitimate claim to power.”

Ahead of the mass street protests against Maduro on Wednesday, called by the opposition-led National Assembly, US Vice President Mike Pence released a video message reaffirming unwavering support for a regime change in Venezuela. Denouncing Maduro as “a dictator with no legitimate claim to power” who has “never won the presidency in a free and fair election,” Pence declared that time has come for the Venezuelan people to take the matters into their own hands, in a speech peppered with Spanish phrases. “The United States supports the courageous decision by Juan Guaidó, the president of National Assembly, to assert that body’s constitutional powers, declare Maduro a usurper and call for the establishment of a transitional government,” Pence said.

“Enough of aggressions and conspiracies, enough is enough!” said Maduro, rejecting the “imperialist interventionism” and open calls for coup d'état that he called unprecedented in the 200-year history of US-Venezuela relations.

"Mr. Pence doesn't have a job. Now he wants to come and run Venezuela, handing out instructions on what should happen" at the anti-government protests on Wednesday, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez noted, accusing the White House of openly "promoting instability and violence" in the Latin American country.'

The US shouldn't be dabbling in this at all. From a quick look at things, this would've happened all on its own.

I admire how China believes in trade with everyone, and strict non-interference.

Kinda odd, because China is also supposed to be the pariah communist state, and the west is supposed to be a beacon of democracy and freedom.
Meanwhile the Patriot Messiah wants Regime Change to install no doubt some Dictator with Secret Police, Death Squads and Gulags.... Call me simple, but it is "Wrong".

List of countries who recognize opposition leader Juan Guaidó although he claimed on the streets as a " President of Venezuela".  :o >:(

P.S. In Serbia, in the 1990s, there were many demonstrations of the pro-Western opposition against President Milosevic, but none of the leaders of the opposition have declared themselves on the street for the President of the State.

I hope nobody will be surprised when the people of Venezula seek refuge in the US from the regime change policies of corrupt US officials.  It is the US policy of funding and training death squads that give rise to paramilitary gangs like MS 13 in the US.  Different administration but the policy never changes.

Venezuela President Maduro announces closure of embassy, consulates in US
http://www.presstv.com/Detail/2019/01/25/586718/Venezuela-Maduro-US-Juan-Guaido

'President Nicolas Maduro has ordered the closure of Venezuela’s embassy and consulates in the US after Washington threw its weight behind opposition leader Juan Guaido who declared himself interim president.

The call came only a day after Caracas severed diplomatic ties with Washington and ordered all US diplomats to leave Venezuela within 72 hours.

During a lengthy speech at a special session at the Supreme Court, the Venezuelan president censured US President Donald Trump for seeking to orchestrate a coup against his government and backing the self-declared leader.

"I believe there’s no doubt that Donald Trump wants to impose a de facto government, unconstitutional government, a coup against the people and democracy in Venezuela," Maduro said.

"There’s no doubt that is Donald Trump with his craziness of believing he’s the world’s police,” he said.

At least 10 countries, including Russia, Turkey and Iran, have expressed their support for Maduro and condemned outside interference in Venezuela. On Thursday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said the Islamic Republic “backs Venezuela’s nation and legitimate government in the face of any foreign meddling in the country’s domestic affairs or any illegitimate and illegal measure such as attempts for a coup or moves against the people.”

Russia also stressed that it would stand by Venezuela to protect its sovereignty, warning that Washington’s moves could lead to lawlessness and bloodshed in Venezuela. Moscow said foreign powers’ support for the opposition leader is a bid to “usurp power”.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also voiced solidarity with his Venezuelan counterpart and tweeted: “My brother Maduro! Stand tall, we are standing by you.”

China, which has backed Maduro’s sovereignty, said it opposed any outside interference. Bolivia, Mexico and Cuba all expressed support for the Venezuelan president.

Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance movement has also voiced support for the Venezuelan president in the face of the US-backed coup against Maduro’s “legitimate” government.'

Ecuadorian ex-president Correa to RT: Cannot rule out US-backed ‘military action’ in Venezuela
http://www.rt.com/news/449645-correa-venezuela-coup-president/

Washington’s reckless push for regime change in Venezuela, where the US actively supports a person who “ignores all laws,” might set a dangerous precedent, former president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa told RT.

A situation, in which a man “declares himself an ‘interim’ president” and immediately gets recognition from 11 Latin American countries and the US, is “unseen,” Correa said, commenting on the latest developments in the crisis-ridden Venezuela and referring to the opposition head Juan Guaido. Guaido, who is currently the President of the National Assembly, swore an oath and declared himself interim president on Wednesday as thousands took to the streets calling for Maduro to leave office. Minutes later, US President Donald Trump announced his decision to recognize the man as Venezuela’s interim leader.

Elsewhere in the Americas, Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, and Peru all followed suit within two hours of the US move.

However, those pushing for the coup were apparently not very much concerned about the legal formalities but were instead focused on their own interests, according to Correa, who said the development set a dangerous precedent for such an approach to be extended on any other country, whose “government the US does not like,” regardless of whether it is democratic or not.'

Non-yellow-vest protests are good? Macron hails Venezuela coup attempt as ‘restoration of democracy’
http://www.rt.com/news/449622-france-venezuela-coup-support/

'Emmanuel Macron has praised the “courage” of Venezuelan protesters but fell short of recognizing self-declared “acting president” Juan Guaido. His desire to exert influence on Latin America could back him into a corner in Paris.

“After the illegal election of Nicolas Maduro in 2018, Europe supports the restoration of democracy. I salute the courage of the hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans marching for their freedom,” Emmanuel Macron tweeted in French on his official account.

The messages came as months of anti-government protests flared into violence over the past week, with National Assembly leader Guaido publicly proclaiming himself the new interim leader of the country during a rally in central Caracas on Wednesday.

Macron might be backing himself into a corner with his desire to exert influence on the situation in Venezuela and elevate his status on the international arena against a backdrop of a quite precarious situation at home, Chris Reynolds, an Associate Professor in Contemporary French and European Studies at the Nottingham Trent University, believes.

“We can see a direct contradiction here between the domestic situation and Macron’s [statement] on this emerging situation in Venezuela,” Reynolds told RT, adding that the president’s response to the domestic Yellow Vests protests was “quite strong.”'

Financial coup is being orchestrated by US shadow government.  Don't you dare interfere with US elections, however the US is justified in meddling in other countries affairs in order to bring stability and peace to the word.  ::)

https://cnn.com/2019/01/26/uk/venezuela-maduro-bank-of-england-gold-withdrawal-gbr-intl/index.html

The Bank of England has blocked Nicolas Maduro's officials from withdrawing $1.2 billion worth of gold, Bloomberg reported, dealing a further blow to the embattled Venezuelan President as he tries to salvage his authority.

According to the report, which cites unnamed people familiar with the matter, the gold is a significant part of the $8 billion in foreign reserves held by the Venezuelan central bank.

CNN has not been able to independently verify the report and is attempting to get a response from Maduro's officials.

The move by the Bank of England came after top U.S. officials urged the British government to help cut off Maduro's access to his country's assets, the report said, and instead steer them towards opposition leader Juan Guaido, who has claimed the presidency.

On Saturday, the UK joined the US and a host of other countries by saying it would recognize Guaidó as the country's interim President if new elections were not called within the next eight days.

"We stand shoulder to shoulder with the United States in saying that the National Assembly and its President Juan Guaidó are best placed to lead Venezuela to the restoration of its democracy, its economy and its freedom," said UK Minister of State Alan Duncan.

Another neocon back in power to oversee the overthrown of Maduro.  Also notice Politico refuses to call what happened a coup.

Elliott Abrams, prominent D.C. neocon, named special envoy for Venezuela

https://politico.com/story/2019/01/25/elliott-abrams-envoy-venezuela-1128562

Elliott Abrams, a controversial neoconservative figure who was entangled in the Iran-Contra affair, has been named as a Trump administration special envoy overseeing policy toward Venezuela, which has been rocked by a leadership crisis.

Abrams’ appointment, announced Friday by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, is something of a surprise — President Donald Trump nixed his 2017 bid to be deputy secretary of State after learning that Abrams had criticized him.

Abrams will now be one of several special envoys Pompeo has brought on board to tackle thorny issues. He takes on his role at an unusually volatile time in U.S.-Venezuelan relations.

Earlier this week, Trump announced he no longer recognized the legitimacy of the Venezuelan regime of Nicolás Maduro and said the U.S. now considers opposition leader Juan Guaidó to be the country’s “interim president.” But Maduro refuses to leave power and has declared that Venezuela will cut off diplomatic ties with the United States.

“This crisis in Venezuela is deep and difficult and dangerous, and I can’t wait to get to work on it,” Abrams said in brief remarks to reporters.

Abrams, who served in the Reagan and George W. Bush administrations, is a well-known and somewhat controversial figure in U.S. foreign policy circles.

He has often expressed hawkish views and is fiercely pro-Israel, but he also has written and spoken eloquently about the need to support human rights around the world.

Abrams was deputy national security adviser in the George W. Bush administration and was instrumental in Middle East policy at the time, including supporting the U.S. invasion of Iraq.
