US rejects visa for Kosovo PM, media reports

According to reports from international media on Monday, Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj’s US visa was rejected, citing imposition of customs tax increases as the reason.

According to reports from Al Jazeera Balkans, Prime Minister  Haradinaj was invited to Washington on February 6 for a conference “on the Balkans.”

The rejection of his visa for the conference is connected with US  pressure towards Kosovo authorities to withdraw the 100 per cent customs tax increase on goods arriving to Kosovo from Serbia, the report said, a measure that was introduced by the Kosovo Government on November 21, 2018.

According to the Kosovo Government’s spokesperson Donjeta Gashi, the Kosovo PM has not  yet officially received an answer regarding the outcome of his application.

This would not be first time that the prime minister has been denied entry to the US. In January 2018, Haradinaj’s visa was rejected as the result of the efforts of the former KLA commander, along with his peers, to abolish the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, or ‘Special Court’ as it is popularly known, which caused relations between Kosovo and the US. to cool off following the US’s negative reaction to the attempt.

Currently, the international community is pressuring Haradinaj to withdraw the 100 per cent tax increase on products entering through Serbia, considering it a violation of free trade regulations.

Haradinaj’s government had repeatedly stated that the tax increase would be withdrawn only when Serbia recognizes Kosovo’s independence.

"EU integration supported by 55 percent of citizens"  :(

EU Integration Minister Jadranka Joksimovic said on Friday that EU integration is supported by 55 percent of Serbian citizen.
Source: srbija.gov.rs Monday, January 21, 2019 | 11:09

She said that the survey also showed that 75 percent of citizens support the reform process in Serbia that is not related to European integration, which is a progress compared to the previous survey from July, when this process was supported by 68 percent of citizens.
According to Joksimovic, regarding the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, 64 percent of citizens believe that this problem should be solved independently of whether the European Union is seeking it, "which shows the maturity of our society."

All the polls said Brexit would loose.
Its the modus operandi of using polls to influence votes, instead of polls to predict vote.

Yes. Maybe. But my concern is that is small percent of citizens are firmly against Serbian membership in EU. Maybe fans of Dr. Seselj or other right-wing organizations  ???

According to the estimates of 53 percent of citizens, at all costs must remain in Serbia, according to a study conducted by the Center for Euro-Atlantic Studies in cooperation with Cesid, Executive Director of Cesid B. Klacar told a press conference today.

He presented the findings of the "Euro-Atlantic integration and dialogue between Beorgad and Pristina" research, adding that if a referendum was to be announced now, 47% of citizens would join the European Union, Tanjug reports.

It would be against 36% of respondents  :), and 17% would not even come to referendum.

A survey conducted on 1,010 citizens by telephone, in the first week of November, showed that 60 percent of citizens support Serbia's military neutrality, while only 7 percent approached the US and NATO.  :) :)

"Revoke taxes and end provocations to resume dialogue"
https://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics.php?nav_id=106132

President Aleksandar Vucic says the current stall in the (Kosovo) dialogue can be overcome only when Pristina abolishes taxes on goods from central Serbia.
Monday, February 4, 2019 | 13:11
(Tanjug)

Speaking on Monday in Belgrade, Vucic added that the dialogue can continue when Pristina ceases with provocations, such as the change in the statute of the Trepca mining complex (in northern Kosovo), which the president assessed was a grab of Serbian property.

According to a statement issued after Vucic's meeting with UK's ambassador to Serbia, Denis Keefe, the president also said that his country will always be committed to peace and stability in the region.

He "thanked for the support of that country's government, pointing out to Keefe to the harmfulness of Pristina's unilateral measures that endanger the dialogue" - said the press release.

Vucic also "expressed Serbia's interest in strengthening political dialogue and developing economic cooperation with the United Kingdom, hoping that Brexit will not affect bilateral relations of the two countries."

Keefe informed Vucic with everything that was being done, in cooperation with line ministries, to assure no obstacles to bilateral cooperation after Britain leaves the EU.

He added that the government in London with projects such as digital transformation and e-government strengthening, funded through the Good Governance Fund, continues to support the reform process in Serbia.

Keefe stressed that his country wants to have a positive role in the region and in its European future, as well as to share the goals for achieving stability and progress in the Western Balkans, demonstrated through support to the Berlin process.

USA, UK, Germany and Poland against the regular quarterly report of the United Nations on the situation in Kosovo.

Why ? Because the founders in the "Republic of Kosovo" in Washington do not like the report of their creation.

But why Poland? Because the Polish authorities seem to be still occupied (Russia, Germany, Soviet Union, USA).

Pacolli reportedly makes open death threat against Dacic
Behgjet Pacolli has made an open death threat directed at Serbia's First Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic.
https://www.b92.net/eng/news/politics.php?nav_id=106129
Source: Tanjug Monday, February 4, 2019 | 11:21

Tanjug is reporting this citing a report in the Belgrade-based tabloid Kurir, which said the incident happened during an informal EU ministerial meeting in Bucharest, Romania, over the weekend.
Dacic commented on this later to tell Kurir that "Albanian politicians are nervous because the ground is collapsing under their feet."

"I'm already used to threats, but this is the first time an Albanian politician has said it to me so directly. It just shows how nervous they are, the ground is collapsing under their feet. They thought it was all over," Dacic said, and added:

"I replied to them that I am their minister, and they my assistants, because Kosovo is a part of Serbia. They're used to getting everything by force. Now they have hit the wall. There's no backing down, regardless of the threats."

Minister Loiseau: Serbia's EU accession talks to be continued  :(

25 Februar 2019 16:36

BELGRADE - The EU must put its house in order after Brexit, but Serbia's accession talks will be continued, French Minister of European Affairs Nathalie Loiseau said in Belgrade Monday.
Commenting on an interview to Belgrade's Politika daily, in which she said the EU was now not in a position to take in new members, Loiseau said France was only speaking in a language of friendship.
"France wants Serbia to succeed in its endeavour of EU accession, to fulfill that ambition... At a time when the EU is going through the departure of the UK, sincerity is forcing us to say it is facing challenges it must deal with. It would be dishonest to say something contrary to that," Loiseau said after a meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who thanked her for being honest.

"I have nothing to add to this, we knew all of that before. It is a fair relationship, it is better to be told the truth than to be deceived," Vucic said.
Loiseau said her trip to Belgrade was also aimed at preparing a visit by French President Emmanuel Macron, which has been postponed.
"I asked President Vucic if July is suitable for President Macron's visit," she said.
