Kazuhiro Gomi, is leading NTT Research, a research center in the heart of Silicon Valley that carries out advanced research for some of world’s most important and impactful technologies, including quantum computing, cryptography and information security, and medical and health informatics. Mr. Gomi was appointed President and CEO of NTT Research when it was founded in July 2019.

Previously, Mr. Gomi was a member of the Board of Directors for NTT Communications Corporation and led NTT America as its president and CEO. In his role as CEO, Mr. Gomi was responsible for the direction and leadership of NTT America’s mission, strategy, annual goals and objectives, as well as for fostering a culture of success. He oversaw all functional areas of NTT America, including the Global Enterprise Solutions and the Global IP Network business units, as well as all facets of legal, human resources, marketing communications and finance.

From June of 2009 until June of 2010, Mr. Gomi served as NTT America’s  COO, overseeing the management of NTT America’s two business units. Prior to his appointment to COO, Mr. Gomi was NTT America’s CTO and vice president of the Global IP Network Business Unit. He held the title of CTO until October of 2010 during which time he was responsible for the company’s technology procurement strategy and vendor selection.

Mr. Gomi began his career at NTT R&D and has been an NTT employee for more than 20 years. He was involved in product management/product development activities for the Global IP Network and several research and development projects within NTT including voice answering and video on demand systems. Mr. Gomi is well known in the ICT industry and highly sought after for comment by the business press, as well as for high-level speaking engagements on global business trends and digital transformation.

In September of 2009, Mr. Gomi was first named to the Global Telecoms Business Power100, a list of the 100 most powerful and influential people in the telecoms industry.

Mr. Gomi received a MSIE from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a MSEE from Keio University, Tokyo. He pioneered new areas of voice signal processing and voice answering systems, for which NTT holds Japanese patents and several patents pending. Mr. Gomi also participated in Malaysia’s Multimedia Super Corridor project as a telecommunications and IT expert.
