F***'em they're guilty of the same thing in a more subtle way.

And there you go; it's decided. Merry Christmas.

I guess we'll have to see what the French people have to say this weekend.

Russian media covered the Yellow Vest protests; now France is investigating Russian ‘interference’

France has opened a probe into Russian “interference” in the anti-government Yellow Vest protests, with Russian media and “Russia-linked” social media accounts targeted for the grave crime of actually reporting on the crisis.

Hundreds of social media accounts supposedly linked to Russia have “sought to amplify” the still-raging French street protests, according to an “analysis” seen by the Times of London.

The source? Ryan Fox, a former NSA employee and the co-owner of an American cyber-security firm which “monitors disinformation” online and has a history of dubiously promoting nefarious Russian ‘meddling’ as a panacea for all Western ills.

Quote
Look at what Putin tricked this woman into believing: https://t.co/5dGOXSaCMm

— Glenn Greenwald (@ggreenwald) December 10, 2018

The “network” of social media accounts in question has purportedly circulated posts which “focus on the violence and chaos” of the Gilet Jaunes (Yellow Vest) protests, churning out approximately 1,600 tweets and retweets a day. No word yet about how many non-Russia-related Twitter accounts are also tweeting and retweeting about the protests. Although, perhaps it’s only Russians who are restricted from sharing information about the French civil unrest.

According to the Alliance for Securing Democracy — a unit of the US State Department-funded German Marshall Fund — about 600 Twitter accounts which have previously promoted “Kremlin views” have begun focusing their attention on France in recent weeks. While the accounts usually focus on US or British news, the anti-government protests in France “have been at or near the top” of their activity in the last week. “That’s a pretty strong indication that there is interest in amplifying the conflict,” Bret Schafer, a DC-based social media analyst for the think tank told Bloomberg.'

Macron Regime at War on Social Justice

Stephen Lendman
https://www.davidicke.com/article/510280/macron-regime-war-social-justice

Hubris, arrogance, and contempt for ordinary people define him. Macron represents virtually everything just societies abhor.

He’s a former Rothschild banker/economy minister, a neoliberal reactionary, an establishment president - hostile to liberte, egalite and fraternite for everyone in France, Europe and everywhere else.

He supports US imperial wars, neoliberal harshness, tax cuts for business and the rich, unions serving management, not workers, social injustice, and greater privatizations of state enterprises for maximum corporate profits at the expense of popular rights and needs.

He’s Francois Hollande with a new face, same reviled agenda, overwhelmingly opposed – a boon for finance capital and war-profiteers, disastrous for ordinary people, struggling to get by like the counterparts in virtually all Western countries and most others, notably in America, Britain, Israel, and despotic regimes they support.

Despite a parliamentary majority, Macron lacks a popular mandate. According to Marine Le Pen, weak support could undermine the legitimacy of his legislative majority.

As in the US and other Western countries, French democracy is pure fantasy. Pluralism exists in name only. Dirty business as usual is the unwritten law of the land.

Allied with the US, France is involved in endless wars of aggression, ordinary people exploited to benefit the country’s monied interests exclusively. Spam_A Spam_B Like other EU countries, the US and Canada, France is a cesspool of criminality, inequality and injustice - a plutocracy run by sinister dark forces.

Throughout the West and most elsewhere, monied interests run things for their own benefit, ordinary people exploited to fatten their bottom line.

When elections are held, dirty business as usual wins every time. Major parties replicate each other, their agendas virtually identical on major issues.

Their privileged class doesn’t give a hoot about ordinary people, including the most disadvantaged.

Western nations are unfit and unsafe to live in, fundamental freedoms eroding in plain sight, police state rule replacing them - nonexistent threats invented to distract people from what’s most important.

China, Russia and other nations are rising, the West sinking. It’s just a matter of time before the US empire goes like all others in history.

Yellow Vest protests in France are all about anger over increasing social inequality, growing millions affected, Macron indifferent to what’s most important to the nation’s ordinary people, public anger over high fuel taxes symbolic of the overriding issue.

President of the rich Macron’s approval rating plunged to barely over 20%. Begun on November 17, Yellow Vest protests continued on Saturday under the banner “All to the Elysee,” referring to the Elysee Palace official residence of French presidents.

Tens of thousands of police are out in force in Paris and other French cities - armored vehicles deployed on Parisian streets. Popular landmarks and tourist spots are closed on Saturday in the nation’s capital, along with many shops and restaurants in high-traffic areas.

Police clashed with protesters, using water cannon, stun grenades, toxic tear gas, and other iron-fisted tactics, hundreds arrested on Saturday alone.

Toughness by authorities energizes people to push harder for equitable change. One sign read “Listen to the anger of the people.”

Mayor of the 8th district of Paris Jeanne d’Hauteserre said “(w)e are in a state of insurrection. I’ve never seen anything like it.” Polls show over three-fourths of French people support Yellow Vest protests.

Activists demand sweeping economic and financial reforms, including lower taxes for ordinary people, higher pay, cheaper energy, better retirement benefits, and Macron’s resignation.

On social media, the weekend protest is billed as “Act IV. Stay on the course,” challenging the Macron regime like it probably never imagined was possible when taking office in May 2017.

Macron had a 62% approval rating at the time. Now it’s little more than a third that much support, likely sinking lower if protests continue without the regime addressing popular demands.

Activist Taha Bouhafs spoke for others, saying “(t)here is a rising of the people’s rage and it’s caused by a single reason - the government’s policies that only look to take from the poor to keep for the rich.”

It’s how all Western and most other societies operate. The only way to get their attention for equitable change when other ways fail is by sustained civil disobedience.

Most often, resistance alone can work. Regime change begins at home. The only solution is popular revolution - what’s needed throughout the West, in America and Britain most of all.

A Final Comment

Since condemning protests at the G20 last Saturday, Macron hasn’t spoken in public about what’s going on.

Scheduled to address the nation in days, it’s unclear how he intends handling his most serious crisis since taking office.

Anything less than accommodating legitimate demands will likely encourage mass protests to continue.

In May and June 1968, millions of French workers, students, and others demanded revolutionary change under the slogan “Be realistic. Demand the impossible!”

The same revolutionary spirit is vital today in France, throughout the West, and elsewhere. Change is only possible when activists demand no less.

The Macron Implosion – Will It Spread to Other EU Members?
http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-macron-implosion-will-it-spread-to-other-eu-members/5662517

'The Yellow Vest Movement – weekend 8 and 9 December – Round 4. Some say, they are the worst riots in France since the student-driven mini-Revolution of May 1968. Over the four weekends, hundreds of thousands were in the streets, middle class people, from students to workers to outright employees and housewives. The police force increases by every new Round – and so do the demonstrators. Today – more than 8,000 police, a considerable increase from last weekend’s 5,000-plus. Tens of thousands Yellow Vests demonstrated; police reported more than 1,600 arrests.

There are tanks in the streets – not seen for at least ten years – burning cars and shop fronts, vandalized buildings. The police are fighting them with teargas, water cannons and rubber bullets. Police brutality seems to be unavoidable, However, apparently more moderate than on other occasions. Nevertheless, a youtube is circulating, where a group of riot gear protected police beat up a helpless Yellow Vest, already on the ground and defenseless. These are the pictures you see on TV. Spam_A Spam_B And the globalized ‘everybodies’ throughout Europe and the (western) world sit comfortably in their fauteuils, shaking their heads – “the French again; they are never content, always want more” – having apparently no idea that what they, the French workers, had rightfully accumulated in terms of social funds and public infrastructure – hospitals, schools – since WWII (instead of paying for a heavy army) is being ‘legally’ stolen by a small elite who put a Rothschild banker – Macron – in power to pass the necessary legislation to make the fraud legal.

Voilà. So simple. Most of the fauteuil warriors have no idea that the hangmen are stealthily coming to them too. By the time they wake up and see the light irradiated by the French Yellow Vests – it might be too late. It’s not for nothing, that Europe, under the command of the unelected European Commission (EC), has become increasingly militarized and a conglomerate police state, to be ready when general discontent spreads and political and social upheavals start. We may be at that point.'

‘Total mobilization’: Strasbourg bans public demos amid massive manhunt for Christmas market gunman
http://www.rt.com/news/446226-strasbourg-security-threat-manhunt/

With a major operation underway to find the suspect, France has raised its threat level and introduced extra security and border controls, as well as a ban on public assemblies in Strasbourg, following the Christmas market attack.

The city of Strasbourg was subject to a “reinforced grid,” French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said on Tuesday night, hours after the attack on the market left three people dead and 12 others injured. “We are currently in a reinforced vigipirate stance,” he said, noting that demonstrations are now banned in the city to allow a “total” police mobilization to ensure public safety.

Announcing that protests and public demonstrations have been temporarily banned in the city, the minister explained this would allow the police to “totally mobilize” to ensure public safety. Spam_A Spam_B "All assemblies, either stationary or as a march (cortege), are banned until the order is rescinded. Anyone in breach of the order will be subject to the penalties provided-for by law," Strasbourg authorities said in the official notice of the protest assembly ban, issued immediately after Castaner's statement.

Additional resources are being deployed to Strasbourg to help local units engage in a search for the suspect. More than 350 policemen and gendarmes were hunting down the attacker on Tuesday night. They were supported by helicopters and members of the RAID, the BRI and Opération Sentinelle forces, the minister said.

Castaner confirmed that the shooter had previously been placed on the ‘Fiche S’ list of potential security threats. The suspect, he said, was to be arrested Tuesday morning in relation to an attempted homicide but was not at home when the police units arrived to get him.'

Strasbourg attack not a government conspiracy to undermine Yellow Vests – Interior Ministry official
http://www.rt.com/news/446248-strasbourg-shooting-yellow-vests-conspiracy/

The Strasbourg shooting, which claimed two lives on Tuesday night, was not a secret government ploy to undermine the mass protests gripping France for weeks, contrary to rumors online, a senior official has said.

Secretary of State for the Interior Ministry Laurent Nuñez said he was “outraged” by claims that the attack in Strasbourg may benefit the government in its struggle against the so-called Yellow Vest movement.

In the wake of the shooting, all mass gatherings had been banned in Strasbourg by the government. No restrictions were placed on public events in other parts of France though.'

Strasbourg Christmas market gunman killed in shootout with police - Dead men tell no tales
http://www.rt.com/news/446409-police-operation-strasbourg-shooting/

'French police have killed the main suspect in the deadly Strasbourg Christmas market shooting, Cherif Chekat, following a dramatic, helicopter-assisted raid and a shootout in the city center.

More than 700 officers and military personnel, as well as two helicopters, were engaged in a 48-hour operation to hunt down the 29-year-old suspect, following the Christmas Market attack on Tuesday.

With France’s threat alert level raised to the max, ‘wanted’ posters of the gunman were made public across the city, which sits on the German border. Heavily armed police brigades continued to keep guard in Strasbourg two days after the suspect fled the scene.

Around 9:00pm Thursday night, while brushing through the center of Strasbourg with the helicopters buzzing above, three national police officers spotted an “individual” matching the suspect's description casually “strolling” the streets, roughly two kilometers away from where he launched his attack, Interior Minister Christophe Castaner told reporters.

When the officers approached the man to question him, he turned around and started shooting.'

'Well played, Macron': Conspiracy theorists make incredible accusation that French government orchestrated Strasbourg shooting to distract from Yellow Vest protests
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6488167/Conspiracy-theorists-claim-France-orchestrated-Strasbourg-shooting.html

'Conspiracy theorists have made the incredible accusation that the French state orchestrated last night's terror attack - to divert attention from the Yellow Vest protests.

A 29-year-old gunman shot dead at least two people and injured 13 others at a Christmas market before escaping in a hijacked taxi in Strasbourg.

Protesters today made the extraordinary claim on social media that President Emmanuel Macron had set up the attack for an 'excuse' to ask protesters to call off a demonstration planned for Saturday.

One wrote: 'You'll see next week there won't be a single yellow vest. Well played, Macron' while another added: 'Coincidence, chance? Or just manipulation!'.

One protester wrote: 'They want to create fear so that people don't take to the streets.'

Another said: 'Well of course it was the State! If you look back in time, there have often been terror attacks when there were too many strikes or protests.'

An infamous Yellow Vest protester called Maxime Nicolle posted a Facebook Live video of him saying the attack was a set up.

He said: 'Do you really think that a guy who wanted to carry out a terror attack would wait until there were three people in the street at 8pm? He would go into the Middle Of the Champs Elysees and blow himself up.''

How did French and German security services overlook Strasbourg 'radical Islamist' with a string of convictions and bungle raid on his home where he stored guns and grenades?

'The 29-year-old who shot and killed at least two people and injured 13 others at a Christmas market in Strasbourg, northeastern France last night, was well known to police and security services in no less than three countries.

Cherif Chekatt, who shouted 'Allahu Akbar' - meaning 'God is Great' in Arabic - as he opened fire on the crowds, is known to be part of Islamist networks in Strasbourg and has a lengthy criminal record which includes 27 convictions as well as lengthy prison sentences in Germany, France and Switzerland.

The French secret service had been warned that he had become radicalised in prison, and placed him on a designated 'threat to the state' watchlist in 2015 - but this had not been communicated to German authorities who jailed him for burglary in 2016.

Yesterday morning, police searched his flat in connection with a different crime, and found an arsenal of weapons including a grenade, but Chekatt was not at home at the time of the raid, and would later go on to kill and maim more than a dozen people.

Meanwhile, his first victim has been named as Anupong Suebsamarn, a 45-year-old Thai man on holiday in Europe with his wife, according to Thai media.

Four of those injured are still fighting for their lives, among them 28-year-old Italian journalist Antonio Megalizzi, who was in town to cover the European Parliament, with six others seriously hurt.'

‘We didn’t listen to people’: French PM admits mistakes in dealing with Yellow Vest rallies
https://www.rt.com/news/446621-france-protests-mistakes-pm/

'French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe has acknowledged that the government made mistakes while handing the massive Yellow Vest protests that have gripped the country for the past five weeks.

“We made mistakes. We did not listen enough to the French people. I remain convinced that they want this country to be transformed,” he told Les Echoes newspaper on Sunday.

Violence at the demonstrations has been hitting record levels with hundreds of protesters injured since November 17. At least seven people died during the protests. Police officers have also suffered injuries.

French cities descended into chaos, with protesters smashing store windows, looting, overturning cars, and burning barricades. City centers were shrouded in fog from tear gas, smoke grenades and firecrackers. Earlier in December, Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire admitted that the protests were a “catastrophe” for the country's economy and businesses.

There was massive security at the rallies, with tens of thousands of police officers deployed. Heavy armored vehicles belonging to French Gendarmerie – military police – rolled in the streets of the capital and several other cities. The number of those detained throughout the protests has surpassed 4,500.

People initially protested against fuel-price hikes due to come into force this January. The government has since abandoned those plans, but demonstrators continued to demand more concessions, including lower taxes and even the resignation of Emmanuel Macron.'

FREXIT? The 'Gilets Jaunes' will Not Let Go
https://www.globalresearch.ca/frexit-the-gilets-jaunes-will-not-let-go/5663837

'The “Gilets Jaunes” will not let go. Not even – or especially not – after Macron‘s half-hearted, rather cynical and grandstanding concessions – of “too little and too late” – which when analyzed constitute a new lie, especially regarding the increase of the minimum wage. It was clear from his face, these concessions, of a President who campaigned on the basis of “never make any concessions”, were fake, as fake as his fake attitude of an apologist could be. Even without listening to his words, his body language of arrogance gives him away.

This past weekend, on Saturday, 15 December, another more than 100,000 Yellow Vests were marching on Paris; countrywide some 200,000. The police to oppress them, as officially reported, was about the same as the weekend before, 8,000 in Paris, close to 90,000 throughout France. Military assistance was not missing. Besides, in a state of emergency, who distinguished between police and military?

Interestingly, the international press – the MSM – is taking it seriously. Why? They fear that this relentless movement may spread to other countries, even countries beyond Europe – like “Trump Land”, the United States of America. And why not. The same malaise of capital being shifted upwards to the detriment of the poor and middle class exists everywhere, may even be most pronounced in the US, but nobody talks about it and pays attention to it, lest the people would have awakened to the growing disparity long ago – and taken to the streets massively – within the inner circles of the Washington Belt Way.

Chapeau to the French. Although their forefathers were among the most vicious and miserable exploiters, in human history – when they ravaged for hundreds of years West Africa – and the elite still does, unbeknown even to (most) of the Yellow Vets.

Is this movement going to change the future – the future of Europe, the future of the values of the western world, that has been so adamant in propagating neofascist ideas – that they have become the new normal; in most people’s brains? There is a saying: “When fascism comes again, it will not come saying I’m the new Fascism; it will come saying, I’m the Anti-Fascism”.

Isn’t that already true when you look at todays Europe, what is called the EU – The European (non) Union (as I call it)? – And it includes even those countries – Switzerland and Norway – not EU members, but which are ever faster moving to the neoliberal right. Let alone those (still) 28 EU countries, like, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Germany, Holland, where political parties have been divided, splintered to pieces, so that the oddest combinations of ‘coalition’ governments have to govern, mostly in an ungovernable fashion. It’s a success for the over-arching elite, call it the world’s dark and deep state – that is behind it with priceless media lies and propaganda, social media, Cambridge Analytica and the like. Anybody with common sense has no saying, simply because the money is on the other side.'

‘Journalists come down’: Yellow Vests chant ‘fake news’ outside French TV station
https://www.rt.com/news/447684-yellow-vests-protest-bfmtv/

Dozens of Yellow Vest protesters have descended on the headquarters of France’s BFM TV channel accusing the station of broadcasting “fake news” and calling for the resignation of President Emmanuel Macron.

The demonstrators arrived at the offices in Paris around an hour after the gathering was announced on Facebook. There was already a heavy police presence at the building in the city’s 15th arrondissement when the crowd formed.

One of the protesters told RT France that BFM TV spreads false information about the movement, alleging that the channel purposefully underplays the size of its demonstrations.

AFP is reporting that “several hundred” Yellow Vests gathered outside the headquarters and Police used tear gas grenades on the crowd after the protesters lobbed projectiles in their direction.

The group reportedly chanted “journalists come down”, “fake news” and “Macron out”.

Riot police also fired tear gas during clashes in Rouen in Normandy and in Nantes in western France on Saturday, which is the seventh week of the mass rallies that have divided the country since the movement sprang up in November.'

Macron terms yellow vest leaders 'hateful mob' in combative New Year's address
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/12/31/macron-terms-yellow-vest-leaders-hateful-mob-combative-new-years/

'Emmanuel Macron last night delivered a combative New Year's address, vowing to push forward with economic reforms despite two-month long protests from what he termed a "hateful mob".

The French President, whose televised address was broadcast form the Elysee Palace, acknowledged that "anger over injustices" lay behind the yellow vest movement that has scarred his second-year in office.

He said: "Ultraliberal and financial capitalism, too often guided by short term interests, is heading towards its demise.”

But the 41-year-old also strongly condemned protest-leaders. “Those who claim to speak for the people, but in fact speak for a hateful mob - attacking elected representatives, security forces, journalists, Jews, foreigners, homosexuals - are quite simply the negation of France,” he said.

The President, who for the first time stood to give the address, promised that his economic reforms would continue despite prolonged clashes between protesters and security forces that turned French cities into battlegrounds. Spam_A Spam_B Looking defiant, Mr Macron rejected protesters’ demands for referendums on major policy decisions and for the possibility of ousting elected representatives, including the president himself. “The people is sovereign and it expresses itself at elections,” he said. “We are a state under the rule of law.”

2018 was an “annus horribilis’ for Mr Macron, whose approval ratings plunged from 40 to around 20 per cent, a record low for a president only 19 months into his term.

Figureheads of the “yellow vests” movement, which has no unified leadership or structure, were quick to condemn Mr Macron for failing to heed the message from the streets and vowed to continue the protests.

Jérémy Clément, a “yellow vest” from near Paris, said: “Mr President, you’ve tried to understand us but you’ve failed. We hope you’ll succeed in hearing us this year.”

Laurence Sailliet, spokeswoman for the main conservative opposition party, The Republicans, said Mr Macron “showed that he remains diosconnected.... There was no mea culpa, no admission that he got it wrong.”'

What Happens if the Yellow Vests Win?
https://off-guardian.org/2018/12/31/what-happens-if-the-yellow-vests-win/

'What if protesters in Paris win, and the French government gives in to all their demands?

What if taxes are reduced, wages increased, President Macron steps down?

I am not talking only about the fuel tax; attempts to impose it have been already abandoned. I am not talking about increase of the minimum wage – the government already agreed to rise it by 100 euro per month.

What I am talking about are real, fundamental changes which many protesters seem to be desiring: substantial tax reduction for the majority of French citizens, generous increase in wages and enhancement of social benefits for all.

So, if the Yellow Vests manage to win all this, then what will happen? Who would benefit? But also, who would lose?

One of my readers recently wrote to me that France should reduce its military budget and from those billions of euro saved, could easily finance demands of the protesters.

Another reader wrote that the richest citizens of France (or call them ‘elites’) should be taxed heavily, and the money saved in this way could be then distributed among the poor and the lower middle class.

Sounds ‘reasonable’? Yes, definitely; reasonable and logical. The only tiny defect is: we all know that it will never happen this way.

President Macron was elevated to the throne by precisely those so-called elites. In return, those rich folks expect their privileges to be guaranteed, even swollen.

And to imagine that a NATO member country (in this case France) would suddenly slash its military budget and from what is saved, start to finance various new social programs for the poor and the middle class, is unrealistic, even childish.

So where will the funds come from, if the French government decides to do something truly ‘radical’; radical at least by the standards of our era of turbo-capitalism: to listen to its own people?'

Stop treating people like beggars or face hatred – Yellow Vests to Macron
https://www.rt.com/news/448099-yellow-vest-open-letter-macron/

A group associated with Yellow Vests has written a fiery open letter to Emmanuel Macron, warning the French president against treating people like beggars, rejecting his nationwide debate, and demanding a major tax reduction.

The missive was posted in the Angry France group on Facebook, which unites almost 300,000 supporters of the Yellow Vest movement, and was also sent to the local media late on Thursday.

“Anger will turn into hatred if you continue, from your pedestal, you and your associates, to look at little people like beggars,” the protesters warned Macron.

The 3-page manifesto by Angry France also turned down Macron’s invitation to take part in the national debate, which the president ordered in response to the violent protests that gripped the country every week-end since November.

The debate was a “political trap” designed to drown the issue that “terrifies” the head of state so much, the letter read.

The Yellow West activists also demanded a “significant reduction in all taxes on essential goods” for the French people paired with an equally significant reduction in pensions and salaries for the elected politicians and senior civil servants.

Protests in France appeared to be calming down recently, but Yellow Vest activists have been posting calls on social media for new rallies to take place on the first Saturday of 2019 in Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Strasbourg and other cities.'

Organizer of Macron’s ‘grand debate’ with Yellow Vests defends her ‘shocking’ €176,000 salary
http://www.rt.com/news/448304-yellow-vest-national-debate-jouanno-salary/

'Emmanuel Macron’s plan for a nationwide public debate, intended to defuse months of Gilets Jaunes protests, is off to a rocky start. The spotlight has shifted to the extravagant salary of the official in charge of organizing it.

Chantal Jouanno is a former sports minister in the conservative government of Nicolas Sarkozy, and the current chairwoman of the CNDP, an official body for public debates, a role for which she receives an annual salary of €176,000 ($201,000).

The prominent position for yet another well-paid bureaucrat has caused outrage against the backdrop of street protests that were fueled by the disconnect between decisions taken by financially secure public officials, and the impact they have on ordinary citizens, such as the now-cancelled petrol tax.

Jouanno, a former national karate champion, deployed a series of blocks to stave off the discontent. Spam_A Spam_B She insisted she was not specifically being paid for the “unprecedented” public discussions, but for a broader role that she assumed last year, adding that she does not negotiate her salary, which is set by the “CNDP, whoever they are.”

“I think it’s important that people can express their shock with my salary, and if they want to propose a different salary for my role, they are free to do so,” she told France Info TV.

She was also defended by her colleague, Ecology Minister Francois de Rugy, who said that if people wanted political posts to be “filled for free, or the minimum wage, it means society no longer recognizes that there is a scale of responsibilities.” With a self-reported salary of just €114,000 ($130,400) per annum – de Rugy must consider himself to be about a third less responsible than Jouanno.

The French president’s proposal for three months of public consultations and town-hall debates starting from January 15 was a bold gambit, but fraught with risk. As part of the process, the government is sure to receive thousands of ambitious and contradictory demands, which may be at odds with its own past tax and labor reforms, and its planned pension.'

French police should be allowed to use LIVE bullets and ‘shoot-to-kill’ tactics on Yellow Vest protesters, the country’s former education minister says
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6570491/Police-use-shoot-kill-tactics-Yellow-Vest-protesters-former-education-minister-says.html

'A former French minister today called for the police to able to use live fire on rioting Yellow Vest protesters.

The words of Luc Ferry, the 68-year-old conservative, highlight the growing law and order crisis facing the country.

Mr Ferry, once an Education Minister and now a full-time philosopher, said: 'What I don't understand is that we don't give the means to the police to put an end to this violence.'

When it was suggested that guns might lead to wounding or worse, Mr Ferry said: 'So what? Listen, frankly, when you see guys beating up an unfortunate policeman on the floor, that's when they should use their weapons once and for all. That's enough!'

Police were attacked in major cities including Paris last Saturday on an 'Act VIII' Day of Rage by the Yellow Vests.

The movement - which is named after the high viz jackets all motorists have to carry in France - also set fire to buildings as police batons, tear gas and water cannon were used against them.

Particularly aggressive scenes were filmed in the French capital, where a former champion boxer beat up two gendarmes on a Seine bridge.

Speaking to Classic Radio, Mr Ferry added: 'We have the fourth largest army in the world, and it is able to put an end to this c***.

'These kind of thugs, this kind of c*** from the extreme Right, the extreme Left and from the housing estates that come to hit the police, that's enough.'

The Classic Radio presenter corrected Mr Ferry, saying that the majority of the rioters were not from suburban high rises, but were instead working class people from the provinces.

Those Yellow Vests arrested so far tend to have jobs, and largely hold conservative views.'

Yellow Vests hope to trigger BANK RUN with financial protest

‘Officials' worst nightmare’: Yellow Vests hope to trigger bank run with financial protest
https://www.rt.com/news/448426-yellow-vests-financial-bank-protest/

Yellow Vest protesters are hoping to trigger a bank run with a nationwide coordinated cash withdrawal. By threatening the French financial system, protesters say, they want to peacefully force the government to pass their reforms.

Quote
“If the banks weaken, the state weakens immediately,” said Yellow Vest “sympathizer” Tahz San on Facebook. “It’s elected officials' worst nightmare.”

Protesters plan to empty their bank accounts on Saturday, withdrawing as much money as possible in a bid to undermine the French banks – if not the euro itself. The plan is to “scare the state legally and without violence,” forcing the government to adopt the movement’s Citizens’ Referendum Initiative, which would allow citizens to propose and vote on new laws.

Quote

“We are going to get our bread back…you’re making money with our dough, and we’re fed up,” said protester Maxime Nicolle in a video message shared on YouTube.

A well-coordinated financial action has the potential to bring the French banking system – and by extension the euro – to its knees, as banks always hold only a fraction of the funds the country’s citizens have in their accounts. However, most banks limit ATM withdrawals to a relatively low amount, meaning protesters would have to line up inside the banks to withdraw the rest of their money, giving the state plenty of time to place restrictions on withdrawals – though this would, no doubt, spark further protest.

The financial demonstration is a novel means of circumventing Prime Minister Edouard Philippe’s proposed crackdown on “unauthorized protests,” announced earlier this week after a particularly violent weekend of clashes with armed riot police – including an unexpected appearance by boxer Christophe Dettinger. Philippe has promised 80,000 security forces will be deployed for the next protest.'
