Israeli minister, settlers 'provocatively' tour al-Aqsa Mosque compound
http://www.presstv.com/Detail/2018/12/09/582459/Israel-Aqsa

'Israeli Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Uri Ariel and a group of settlers have "provocatively" entered the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the occupied Old City of East Jerusalem al-Quds.

The Palestinian Ma'an news agency, citing Firas al-Dibs, spokesman of the Islamic Waqf (Endowment) organization, said the bunch entered the compound under heavy protection by Israeli police officers on Sunday.

They toured the compound “provocatively,” al-Dibs said.

The minister also performed prayers with his companions.

A similar incident occurred in mid-November.

Visits by Israelis to the compound have increased over the past week about the same time as the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah.

The number of Israeli officials, or members of the Knesset, who enter the sacred compound in a provocative manner, has increased in the past few months after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided in July to allow legislators to visit the compound once every three months following a restriction of access that has been in place since October 2015. Spam_A Spam_B Most of the Knesset members are right-wing extremists who support the demolition of the Islamic site in order to build a Jewish temple instead on what is known among settlers as the Temple Mount.

The al-Aqsa Mosque compound sits just above the Western Wall plaza and houses both the Dome of the Rock and the al-Aqsa mosque.

Tensions continue in the occupied Palestinian territories as part of the aftermath of US President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s "capital" and relocation of the US embassy to the occupied city.

On December 21 last year, the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly voted in favor of a resolution that calls on the US to withdraw its controversial policy shift.'

Israeli minister tours East Jerusalem al-Quds, settlers storm al-Aqsa Mosque
http://www.presstv.com/Detail/2019/01/27/586971/Israel-minister-tour-East-Jerusalem-alQuds-alAqsa-Mosque

'In a provocative move, an Israeli minister has toured the occupied Old City of East Jerusalem al-Quds, and a group of Israeli settlers have stormed the al-Aqsa Mosque.

Miri Regev, who is a member of the Knesset for the Likud party and minister of culture and sport, toured the streets of the occupied territories with a camera crew in order to promote her political campaign for the upcoming Israeli parliamentary elections, the Palestinian Ma’an news agency reported on Sunday.

In December last year, Israeli lawmakers voted to dissolve the parliament in a bid to hold early elections in April.

Separately on Sunday, a group of nearly 40 Israeli settlers escorted by Israeli forces entered the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the occupied Old City of East Jerusalem al-Quds. Sheikh Omar al-Kiswani, the director of the al-Aqsa Mosque, said that Israeli forces also banned employees from the Islamic Endowment Department from entry into the holy compound, preventing them from carrying out their work duties.

Al-Kiswani said that such provocations by Israeli forces occur on a daily basis.

Eyewitnesses said that Israeli forces also detained and assaulted a Palestinian youth in the area.

Ultra-Orthodox Israeli legislators and extremist settlers regularly storm the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the occupied city.

Most of the Knesset members are right-wing extremists who support the demolition of the Islamic site in order to build a Jewish temple instead on what is known among settlers as the Temple Mount.

The al-Aqsa Mosque compound sits just above the Western Wall plaza and houses both the Dome of the Rock and the al-Aqsa Mosque.'

Palestinians worshippers gain access to restricted al-Aqsa Mosque area
http://www.presstv.com/Detail/2019/02/22/589266/Palestine-access-restricted-alAqsa-Mosque-area

'Palestinians worshippers have managed to gain access to the Israeli-restricted Bab al-Rahma area of the al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied Old City of East Jerusalem al-Quds.

Thousands of worshippers, who gained access to the area on Friday, were responding to calls by Palestinian clerics — including al-Aqsa Mosque’s Mufti Ekrima Sa’id Sabri — to gather in the Bab al-Rahma sector for Friday prayers, according to the Palestinian Information Center.

Bab al-Rahma, with a gate of the same name, consists of a large building and a courtyard that lie east of the al-Aqsa Mosque compound. The building was sealed by Israeli authorities in 2003 after they claimed it was being used by Palestinians for political activities. Israeli authorities renewed the restriction order annually until an Israeli court ordered the building closed until further notice in 2017.

Israeli forces responded to the planned assembly on Friday by setting up numerous roadblocks and checkpoints and arresting up to 60 Palestinians, according to various local Palestinian sources.

The Israeli measures, however, failed to stop the crowd from opening the gate and entering the area for prayers.

Following the development, the Palestinian resistance movement of Hamas issued a statement describing the event as “a new peaceful victory against the Israeli occupation.”

Tensions continue in the occupied Palestinian territories in the aftermath of a move by the United States to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s “capital” and relocate its embassy to the occupied city.

The al-Aqsa Mosque compound is a flashpoint, highly respected by Muslims, Jews, and Christians alike. The mosque is Islam’s third holiest site after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina.'

Jordanian MPs call for Israeli ambassador expulsion over Aqsa Mosque 'aggression'
http://www.presstv.com/Detail/2019/03/18/591392/Jordanian-lawmakers-call-for-Israeli-envoy-expulsion-over-Aqsa-closure

Jordanian legislators have demanded expulsion of the Israeli ambassador to the kingdom, Amir Weissbrod, in response to “ongoing Israeli aggression” at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the Old City of Jerusalem al-Quds.

Quote
“The parliament recommended the government to recall the Jordanian ambassador from Israel and expel the Israeli ambassador from Amman to confront the ongoing Israeli aggression at holy sites in occupied Jerusalem” al-Quds, Jordan’s official Petra news agency reported on Monday.

The lawmakers also called on the Amman government to address the UN Security Council about “stopping Israeli violations and protecting the Palestinian people.” Jordan is the official custodian of holy Muslim sites in Jerusalem al-Quds, and is the only Arab country apart from Egypt to have diplomatic relations with the Tel Aviv regime.

On Sunday, the Jerusalem al-Quds Magistrate's Court announced that it had accepted a request by Israeli officials to temporarily close Bab al-Rahma (Gate of Mercy) prayer area at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Jordan condemned the court ruling, with its Foreign Ministry saying that Israel would bear “full responsibility for the dangerous consequences” of the decision.'

Trump Tower on Temple Mount? Pompeo video tour omits mosque on holy site, includes ‘Third Temple’

While Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s video tour from Jerusalem omits Muslim sites, Al-Aqsa mosque and the Dome of the Rock, it does include a model of the Third Temple some Jewish groups want in place of it.

The iconic mosque and shrine are located on Temple Mount, one of the holiest sites in the world for Muslims, Christians and Jews. The video posted by the State Department shows Pompeo visiting the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Western Wall, followed by a model of the Third Temple, which some groups want to erect on Temple Mount triggering concerns that Muslim sites would be affected.

The Third Temple plays an important eschatological role in Judaism and is associated with the era of the Jewish Messiah. While most Jewish-Orthodox scholars believe the Messiah will ultimately rebuild the Temple, some hardline religious organizations call for an immediate construction of it in the present times.

In Israel the Push to Destroy Jerusalem’s Iconic Al-Aqsa Mosque Goes Mainstream
http://www.mintpressnews.com/israel-jerusalem-al-aqsa-third-temple/259926/

Some observers may have noticed the growing effort by some Israeli government and religious officials to remove the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa mosque from the Jerusalem skyline, not only erasing the holy site in official posters, banners and educational material but also physically removing the building itself. For instance, current Knesset member of the ruling Likud Party, American-born Yehuda Glick, was also the director of the government-funded Temple Institute, which has created relics and detailed architectural plans for a temple that they hope will soon replace Al-Aqsa. Glick is also <a href="https://forward.com/news/israel/343594/yehuda-glick-brings-extreme-vision-of-temple-mount-to-the-knesset-with-an-a/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">close friends with Yehuda Etzion, who was part of a failed plot in 1984 to blow up Al-Aqsa mosque and served prison time as a result. “In the end we’ll build the temple and it will be a house of prayer for all nations,” <a href="http://www.nrg.co.il/online/54/ART2/345/215.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Glick toldIsraeli newspaper Maariv in 2012. A year later, Israel’s Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel stated that “[w]e’ve built many little, little temples…but we need to build a real Temple on the Temple Mount.” Ariel <a href="https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/israel-al-aqsa-mosque-will-be-replaced-by-jewish-temple-claims-housing-minister-uri-ariel-1473141" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stated that the new Jewish Temple must be built on the site where Al-Aqsa currently sits “as it is at the forefront of Jewish salvation.” Since then, prominent Israeli politicians have become more and more overt in their support for the end of Jordanian-Palestinian sovereignty over the mosque compound, leading many prominent Palestinians <a href="https://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Abbass-Fatah-Israel-planning-to-destroy-Al-Aqsa-Mosque-563525" target="_blank" rel="noopener">to warn in recent years of plans to destroy the mosque.

In recent years, a centuries-old effort by what was once a small group of extremists has gone <a href="https://www.haaretz.com/.premium-the-temple-mount-has-gone-mainstream-1.5322311" target="_blank" rel="noopener">increasingly mainstream in Israel, with prominent politicians, religious figures and political parties advocating for the destruction of the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa mosque in order to fulfill a specific interpretation of an end-times prophecy that was once considered fringe among practitioners of Judaism.

As Miko Peled, Israeli author and human-rights activist, told MintPress, the movement to destroy Al-Aqsa and replace it with a reimagined Temple “became notable after the 1967 war,” and has since grown into “a massive colonial project that uses religious, biblical mythology and symbols to justify its actions” — a project now garnering support from both religious and secular Israelis.

While the push to destroy Al-Aqsa and replace it with a physical Third Temple has gained traction in Israel in recent years, this effort has advanced at a remarkably fast pace in just the past few weeks, owing to a confluence of factors. These factors, as this report will show, include the upcoming revelation of the so-called “Deal of the Century,” the push for a war with Iran and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, and the Trump administration’s dramatic lenience in regards to the activity of Jewish extremist groups and extremist settlements in Israel.'

The Book of Revelation is just like Orwell's 1984, in that both are Prophetic Warnings and NOT and Instruction Manual.

How the Third Temple Movement in Israel Rebranded Theocracy as “Civil Rights”
http://www.mintpressnews.com/third-temple-activist-movement-israel-theocracy-civil-rights/260142/

As was detailed in Part I of this series, the Temple Activist movement is now more mainstream than ever before and its effort to destroy the Al-Aqsa mosque compound, the third holiest site in Islam, has advanced with great rapidity since the year began and has picked up precipitously in recent weeks. Yet this new face of the Temple Activist movement — one that claims that its quest is to wrest control of the holy site from Jordanian and Palestinian custody in the name of “equal rights” for Israeli Jews — obfuscates the troubling origins of this once-fringe yet now normalized campaign. Beginning in earnest after the Six Day War in 1967, the Temple Activist movement within Israel was largely formed by two groups of people: 1) a small, then-fringe group of messianic religious Zionists led by Rabbi Shlomo Goren that supported the complete annexation of Palestine, particularly Jerusalem with the Al-Aqsa mosque; and  2) former members of the secular Zionist paramilitary groups Irgun and Lehi, known for their penchant for massacring Palestinian civilians for political gain, who either became religious messianists following Israel’s 1967 victory or remained secular and felt that salvation for Israeli Jews necessitated the miltiary conquest of Palestine and the destruction of its mosques and churches — particularly the site of Al-Aqsa mosque, often referred to as either the Temple Mount or Haram El-Sharif (Arabic for “the Noble Sanctuary”).

The modern “friendly” face of the Temple Activist movement — embodied by figures like Yehuda Glick, former executive director of the Temple Institute and a member of Israel’s Knesset — hides the extremist and largely secular origins of this quasi-religious movement that — as Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss of Neturei Karta, an international organization of ultra-Orthodox Jews opposed to Zionism, told MintPress in Part I — is ultimately colonial (i.e., Zionist) in nature and uses religious imagery and appeals “to excuse their occupation and to try to portray this [the occupation of Palestine] as a religious conflict.”

As this installment of this multi-part series on the current threats facing the historic Al-Aqsa Mosque compound will show, the Temple Activist movement’s extremist origins and increasing normalization in Israeli society parallels the rise of Israel’s political far-right, particularly of the Likud Party — whose roots, much like those of the Temple Activist movment, trace back to secular Zionist paramilitaries like Irgun.'

Israel uses Eid to push forward al-Aqsa takeover

'Israeli police injured dozens of Palestinians praying at the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem on Sunday, the first day of Eid al-Adha or Feast of the Sacrifice.

The Muslim holiday this year coincides with the Jewish holiday of Tisha B’Av, which in Jewish belief commemorates the destruction of the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem.

The Islamic Waqf – the body responsible for Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem – announced on Friday that only the al-Aqsa mosque would open its doors for prayers in Jerusalem on the first day of the holiday.

Israel initially closed the al-Aqsa mosque compound, which Jews call the Temple Mount and Muslims call al-Haram al-Sharif, for Jewish worshippers on Sunday, as is the norm, to avoid clashes with Muslim worshippers.

Israel regularly imposes tight closures on all Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip for days during Jewish holidays.

Israel then reversed its decision, allowing more than 1,700 Jewish Israelis to enter the compound under the protection of occupation forces:
