The US Wants to Bring Back the Shah of Iran
http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-us-wants-to-bring-back-the-shah-of-iran/5662590

'The US had a great deal going from 1953 to 1979 with the Shah of Iran. For 25 years Iran was a cornerstone of the US usurping the British Empire in the Middle East, following World War Two. Iran was a base for projecting US power in the region, and strategically it bordered the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

During the early 20th century the British Empire had full control of Iran’s oil industry, and was paying Iran a flat fee for every barrel of oil it extracted. A rough calculation of Iran’s royalties is between 8% to 16% of the profits, but Iran was never allowed to look at the financial books.
  • Spam_A Spam_B Prior to the CIA-led 1953 overthrow of the democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh, Iran demanded 50% of the profits and control of their oil industry. That was not unreasonable, but Iran was willing to negotiate. At the time, the US oil companies had a 50/50 profit sharing agreement with Saudi Arabia.

The British refused any negotiated settlement. It was then that the Iranian parliament led by Mossadegh voted to nationalized Iran’s oil industry. The British responded with a naval blockade, and began plotting to overthrow Mossadegh and the parliament. As the Prime Minister, Mossadegh held the most political power in Iran because the people were behind him. The Shah of Iran was mostly a figurehead, at the time.

  • President Harry Truman was adamantly against British style colonialism and sided with Iran, which infuriated the U.K. When President Dwight D. Eisenhower took office in 1953, he sided with the British. Eisenhower and Churchill plotted a coup d’état to overthrow Mossadegh. The frightened Shah, who was in on the plot, fled from Iran before the coup attempt just in case anything went wrong. The first attempt did fail. A second daring CIA-led coup succeeded and the US reinstalled Mohammad Reza Pahlavi as the Shah of Iran, with dictatorial power.

By its intervention, however, the US broke the British Empire’s monopoly on Iran’s oil. That was part of the US’ calculous. After the coup, US oil companies got 40% of Iran’s oil industry, 14% went to Royal Dutch-Shell, 6 % went to the French Petroleum Company, and the British oil company kept 40%. In addition, Iran got its 50/50 share of the net profits that it wanted in the first place. The US immediately sent financial aid to prop up the Shah, and to bolster Iran’s weakened economy from the British blockade.

If the British had initially been flexible, renegotiated a 50/50 oil deal with Prime Minister Mossadegh, then it would have made a coup less likely. Iran was developing a secular democratic government. It might have become a model for other post-colonial countries in the Middle East. Democracy and self-determination are what the US said its world mission was going back to President Woodrow Wilson in 1918:'

Stuxnet virus attack details emerge as Israel eases cyber weapons sale restrictions (See The Trigger)

'The Stuxnet virus that decimated Iran’s nuclear program was introduced by a Dutch mole working with the CIA and Mossad, intelligence sources claimed, as Israel is shopping its cyber weapons to anyone with cash to buy.

An Iranian engineer was recruited by the Dutch intelligence agency AIVD, acting under the direction of the CIA and Mossad, to infect some 2,000 Iranian nuclear centrifuges with the catastrophic Stuxnet virus, which set that country’s nuclear program back years, according to intelligence sources who spoke to Yahoo News.

The mole, who posed as a mechanic, reportedly provided data that was critical to helping the virus’ developers shape their code to specifically target the systems at the Natanz plant where it was ultimately unleashed, then helped get the virus onto the plant computers using a flash drive. One of the sources called him “the most important way of getting the virus into Natanz.

While the US and Israel were the primary players behind the initiative, designed to cripple but not destroy Iran’s nuclear program in order to force it to the negotiating table, the Netherlands, Germany, and one other country (believed to be France) were also allegedly involved, motivated by Israel’s insistence that Iran was developing a nuclear bomb. In addition to supplying the agent, the Dutch contributed information about the centrifuges, which were based on designs stolen from a Dutch company in the 1970s by a Pakistani scientist.'

White House: US will not drop Iran sanctions, Trump tells Macron
http://www.presstv.com/Detail/2019/09/06/605484/Trump-US-will-not-drop-Iran-sanctions

'US President Donald Trump has informed French President Emmanuel Macron that the United States will not lift economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to the White House.

The two presidents also agreed it was essential to “curb Iran's actions threatening freedom of navigation and commerce in the Persian Gulf,” the White House claimed in a statement issued late Thursday.

“President Trump reiterated that dropping sanctions against Iran is not going to happen at this time,” the statement said.

Macron has sought to arrange a meeting between Trump and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in order to end the tensions between the US and Iran since Trump’s withdrawal from the nuclear agreement, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

During a joint press conference with Trump last week, Macron said he hoped a meeting between the presidents of Iran and the United States would take place "in the next few weeks."

“I hope [the meeting between Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Trump] could take place in the next few weeks,” the French president said, adding, "Nothing is for sure, things are eminently fragile."'

Saudi oil attacks: US says intelligence shows Iran involved

'The United States has issued satellite images and cited intelligence to back its allegation Iran was behind attacks on major Saudi oil facilities.

Iran denies involvement in Saturday's air attacks, which were claimed by Iran-aligned Houthi rebels in Yemen.

But unnamed US officials speaking to US and international media say the direction and extent of the attacks cast doubt on Houthi involvement.

The incident has cut global oil supplies by 5% and prices have soared.

What is the US saying?
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blamed Iran at the weekend, without providing any evidence, prompting Tehran to accuse Washington of deceit.

Tweeting on Sunday, President Donald Trump stopped short of directly accusing Iran, but suggested possible military action once the perpetrator was known.'

How Holes in the Burning Saudi Oil Fields Narrative Could Draw the US Into a War With Iran

'Tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran are escalating to new heights, drawing the United States into a confrontation with the Islamic Republic after a sophisticated attack targeted Saudi Arabia’s Aramco oil facility — the largest oil processing facility in the world — knocking out half of the country’s oil capacity, or more than <a href="https://www.cnn.com/middleeast/live-news/saudi-oil-attack-dle-intl/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">5 million barrels a day, and leaving the oil fields in flames.

The attack was nothing the Kingdom had seen before or expected: According to U.S. and Saudi intel, <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/saudi-arabia-increasingly-confident-iran-launched-oil-attack-11568733861" target="_blank" rel="noopener">18 drones and seven cruise missiles were launched and went undetected by both American and Saudi radar systems. The weaponry even went unnoticed by the U.S. military base nearby, the Prince Sultan Airbase, which is guarded by an American Patriot missile defense system and over 500 U.S. military personnel.

You better believe an attack at this level targeting a crossroad for global oil supplies did more than ruffle a few feathers.

Panic not only struck the Kingdom and the international economy, where oil prices spiked 19 percent — <a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2019/09/saudi-oil-attacks-latest-updates-190916102800973.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the highest ever recorded one-day increase — but U.S. and Saudi politicians, as well as a chorus of mainstream pundits, began to beat the drums of war targeting an old foe: Iran.

Saudi and U.S. military analysts have presented <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2019/09/17/satellite-photos-show-extent-of-damage-to-saudi-aramco-plants.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">satellite images of where the missiles landed in the oil fields, purporting to show that the drones/missiles came from the direction of Iran. However, some experts are already countering these claims, pointing out that the images show impact points that are indeed west-northwest, which is the opposite direction of Iran.

Despite providing no substantial evidence and citing so-called anonymous intelligence — you know, the same intelligence that, to justify war with Iraq, claimed Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and that Saddam was working with al-Qaeda — the corporate media has amplified and endorsed the Saudi and Trump administration’s claims to manufacture consent for an all-out war with Iran. Trump Regime/Media Mythology About 1979 Takeover of US Embassy in Iran

Trump Regime/Media Mythology About 1979 Takeover of US Embassy in Iran

A same-day article discusses 40th anniversary of the nonviolent takeover of the US embassy in Tehran on November 4, 1979 by Iranian students.

February 11 marked the 40th anniversary of Iran’s 1979 revolution — ending a generation of fascist tyranny under US-installed puppet Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi.

The embassy takeover was nonviolent, ridding the country of a “den of espionage,” 52 staff members held for 444 days, none mistreated, 14 US women and African Americans at the time released unharmed.

To this day, the official narrative echoed by establishment media turns truth on its head about events at the time.

A spokesperson for Iranophobe/neocon hardliner Pompeo said he’ll “host (a Monday) event honoring the service and sacrifice (sic) of the former hostages on the 40th anniversary of the US Embassy takeover in Tehran,” adding:

“This event commemorates the bravery that all former hostages and their families have shown during unimaginable circumstances (sic).” <span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

“We look forward to the day when we can again safely send US diplomats to Tehran (sic). (T)his anniversary serves as a reminder of the long history of malign behavior by (Iran) and the danger it has posed to the United States and the world over the past 40 years (sic).”

Fact: The above statement ignored a generation of US installed fascist tyranny in Iran — from the CIA’s first ever coup in 1953 to Iranian liberation from US repressive control and exploitation in 1979.

Fact: There was nothing “brave” about well-treated US captives, nothing violent about the embassy’s takeover.

Fact: CIA spies, masquerading as “diplomats,” are unwanted in Iran.

Fact: “Malign” describes US behavior worldwide, not how the Islamic Republic operates.

The NYT published an AP News report about the November 4, 1979 embassy takeover in Tehran, saying:

Iranian “(l)awmakers…approv(ed) the outline of a bill that would include anti-American teachings in school textbooks.”

The measure calls for truth-telling about US imperial lawlessness, wanting Iranian children and youths aware of what’s suppressed in the West.

AP News: “What exactly led to the 1979 takeover of the embassy was obscure at the time to Americans who for months could only watch…TV newscasts showed Iranian protests at the embassy.”

Fact: Establishment media reported the falsified official narrative about what happened and why. To this day, the vast majority of Americans know nothing about the root cause of the Iranian revolution or why the US embassy was taken over.

The neocon/CIA house organ Washington Post reported nothing about the US den of espionage infested with Langley spies, masquerading as its embassy in Tehran.

WaPo quoted Iranophobe White House envoy for regime change in Iran Brian Hook disinformation, saying:

“The decision to jail our diplomats has cast a 40-year shadow over our relations with the regime, which still takes innocent Americans hostage and uses them for political gain (sic).”

Fact: No one was “jail(ed),” no one mistreated, no “innocent Americans (held) hostage and use(d) for political gain” — a longstanding US specialty at home and abroad, including countless numbers of political prisoners, others held captive in torture prisons.

WaPo: “Over the years, a succession of American and Iranian presidents took tentative steps to put relations on a better footing. Usually their efforts came to nothing, further entrenching the mutual mistrust.”

US duplicity and betrayal bears full responsibility, what WaPo and other establishment media never explain.

Reinvented WSJ history said “Iranian conservatives (sic) on Monday celebrate the 40th anniversary of an event that has poisoned US-Iran relations, and introduced what has become a frequent Iranian tactic: detaining foreigners as political pawns (sic),” adding:

“Since a mob of Iranian students (sic) during the 1979 Islamic Revolution climbed the walls of the American Embassy in Tehran and took 52 diplomats hostage for 444 days, Iran has routinely imprisoned foreigners, including Americans (sic).”

What the Journal called a “mob” was comprised of nonviolent, calm, orderly youths, harming no one.

Detaining individuals worldwide as “political pawns” is longstanding US practice, part of what the scourge of imperial viciousness is all about.

US/Iranian relations are soured because bipartisan hardliners in Washington want Islamic Republic sovereignty eliminated, control over the country regained, its resources looted, its people exploited.

It’s how the US mistreats all sovereign independent nations, wanting them colonized and controlled as vassal states, preemptive wars and economic terrorism its favored strategies.

That’s what the scourge of US imperialism is all about — humanity’s greatest threat.

40 Years of US War on Iran by Other Means

All sovereign nations independent of US control are on its target list for regime change — what the scourge of its imperial rage is all about, humanity’s greatest threat.

Iran is Washington’s No. one target in the oil-rich Middle East, seeking control over its world’s third and second largest oil and natural gas reserves respectively.

That’s what decades of illegal US sanctions are all about, escalated by the Trump regime to economic terrorism and other hostile actions.

In November, Iranian security forces put down days of riots, violence, vandalism, and chaos with US dirty hands all over them.

On Friday, Iran’s Intelligence Ministry personnel seized foreign-supplied arms in Kermanshah province’s Javanroud.

Days earlier, US-made weapons were seized in Isfahan, Iranian officials saying they were smuggled into the country ahead of November riots — to be used by CIA recruited thugs.

Assault rifles, pellet guns, other firearms, and live rounds were confiscated.

Iranian Col. Ali Oomian said a terrorist cell was discovered by IRGC intelligence and busted last week, arrests made.

In early December, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) secretary Ali Shamkhan said security forces foiled a plot to cause mass casualties during November riots — US dark forces wanting Tehran falsely blamed for CIA-orchestrated deaths and destruction.

In response to a day’s earlier rocket attack, killing a US private military contractor on a Pentagon base near Kirkuk, Iraq, wounding US military personnel, hardline US Senator Tom Cotton threatened Iran, tweeting:

“If American blood was shed by an Iran-backed group, Tehran ought to face swift and severe consequences.”

Iran had nothing to do with what happened, the US yet to assign blame, reportedly focusing on Iraqi militants falsely linked to Iran.

In mid-December, Pompeo falsely blamed Iran for earlier rocket attacks on Pentagon bases in Iraq, threatening retaliation if US personnel and allies are killed or injured.

No evidence links Iran to hostile regional actions — US, NATO, Israeli, Saudi, UAE specialties, along with terrorist proxies they support.

With Bolton gone, Pompeo is the Trump regime’s lead Iran basher, his remarks consisting of a litany of bald-faced Big Lies fooling no one but the uninformed.

Last month, he falsely called Iran “the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism” — the dubious distinction applying to the US, NATO and Israel, partners in high crimes of war, against humanity, and other hostile actions against peace, stability, and the rule of law.

Discussing Iran in mid-December, he shamefully called the world’s most egregious human rights abuser USA “the world’s greatest champion of liberty (sic).”

He falsely blamed Iranian authorities for CIA-orchestrated riots in the country last month.

He lied accusing Tehran of “den(ying) (Iranians) basic fundamental human dignity — a US global high crime, going on domestically as well against anti-war and human rights activists, along with journalists and whistleblowers for exposing US high crimes.

He turned truth on its head, claiming Iran “is desperate to control ideas, to control speech, and, indeed, to control life itself” — what increasing US tyranny is all about.

He lied accusing Tehran authorities of “intimidati(ng) elderly family members of Iranian journalists” — ignoring US war on investigative journalist Julian Assange, heroic whistleblower Chelsea Manning, and others like them, imprisoned for doing the right thing.

He falsely accused Iran of “disrespect for its people (sic),” shamefully calling the country “a pariah state in the eyes of freedom-loving people all across the world.”<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

Clearly his remark applies to the US, its key NATO allies, Israel, and their rogue partners in high crimes, not the Islamic Republic, the region’s leading proponent of peace and stability — notions the US abhors.

Pompeo lied accusing Iran of religious persecution — a US specialty, waging war on Islam pre-and-post 9/11.

No nation in world history committed more high crimes of war and against humanity over a longer duration than the US.

Tens of millions of corpses attest to its barbarism. The same goes for its world’s largest gulag prison system — filled with thousands of political prisoners at home and abroad, abused and otherwise mistreated for their beliefs.

Pompeo has 2024 presidential ambitions. He’s considering a Kansas Senate run in November, a platform to launch a White House campaign if elected.

The possibility of him in the nation’s highest office should terrify everyone.

Reportedly former Trump regime UN envoy Nikki Haley has similar ambitions.

The choice between them as US president would be like facing death by hanging or firing squad.

The Empire’s War On Oppositional Journalism Continues To Escalate
http://www.activistpost.com/2020/01/the-empires-war-on-oppositional-journalism-continues-to-escalate.html

'Journalist Glenn Greenwald has been charged by the Bolsonaro government in Brazil with the same prosecutorial angle used by the US to target WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Per The New York Times:

Citing intercepted messages between Mr. Greenwald and the hackers, prosecutors say the journalist played a “clear role in facilitating the commission of a crime.”

For instance, prosecutors contend that Mr. Greenwald encouraged the hackers to delete archives that had already been shared with The Intercept Brasil, in order to cover their tracks.

Prosecutors also say that Mr. Greenwald was communicating with the hackers while they were actively monitoring private chats on Telegram, a messaging app. The complaint charged six other individuals, including four who were detained last year in connection with the cellphone hacking.

This argument is essentially indistinguishable from the argument currently being used by the Trump administration in charging Assange with 17 counts of violating the Espionage Act. The US Department of Justice alleges that Assange attempted to provide Private Manning with advice and assistance in covering her tracks while leaking documents she already had access to, therefore making Assange party to a conspiracy against the United States.'

Propaganda and Lies: Iran and Ukrainian Flight PS752

Here is the cardinal rule about government—everything it says through its spokespersons, hired guns, public relations adepts, and the mockingbird corporate media should be considered a self-serving lie, or at best a distortion hammered into shape to fit a predefined agenda.

For instance, we should question who is ultimately responsible for the shootdown of the Ukrainian airliner in Tehran following the assassination of Qassem Soleimani.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

Former CIA military intelligence officer Philip Giraldi believes there is a possibility Ukraine International Airlines flight PS752 was a false flag designed to put further pressure on the government of Iran and feed the USAID “opposition” to the mullahs.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

Giraldi writes “there just might<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>be considerably more to the story involving cyberwarfare carried out by the U.S. and possibly Israeli governments.”

Quote
What seems to have been a case of bad judgements and human error does, however, include some elements that have yet to be explained. The Iranian missile operator reportedly experienced considerable “jamming” and the planes transponder switched off and stopped transmitting several minutes before the missiles were launched. There were also problems with the communication network of the air defense command, which may have been related.

Giraldi explains the<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

Quote
…SA-15 Tor defense system used by Iran has one major vulnerability. It can be hacked or “spoofed,” permitting an intruder to impersonate a legitimate user and take control. The United States Navy and Air Force reportedly have developed technologies “that can fool enemy radar systems with false and deceptively moving targets.” Fooling the system also means fooling the operator. The Guardian has also reported independently<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>how the United States military has long been developing systems that can from a distance alter the electronics and targeting of Iran’s available missiles.

Naturally, this possibility is not even mentioned by the corporate war propaganda media, with the notable exception of The Guardian. Instead, we are pelted with tweets and news articles purporting to show just how angry the Iranian people supposedly are over the shootdown, accidental or otherwise.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

The establishment media, long-serving as war propagandists, would have you believe the people of Iran care more about the shootdown of an passenger airliner than the four-decade long<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>economic war against them waged by the USG, Israel, and Saudia Arabia—a war that has the possibility of breaking out into a conflict that will kill far more than the 176 who died when two missiles hit flight PS752.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

This reminds me of a murderous trick pulled by the Israelis. In September 2018, Syrian anti-aircraft defenses shot down a Russian military plane near the Hmeimim airbase where the Russians stage military operations against USG supported terrorists in Syria (and invited, along with Iran and Hezbollah, to do so by Syria, unlike the illegal American occupation and the apparently endless Israeli air raids).<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

“A Russian military spokesman said Israeli F-16 pilots were using the Russian plane as a shield while carrying out missile strikes against targets in Syria’s Latakia province and put it in the line of fire from Syrian anti-aircraft batteries,” The Guardian reported at the time.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

Quote
Russia’s defence minister, Sergei Shoigu, told a senior Israeli official that Israel bore “full responsibility” for the incident and the death of the Russian crew, a military spokesman said later on Tuesday. Israel’s ambassador in Moscow was summoned to the Russian foreign ministry over the incident.

Putin let it go, however, realizing that pushing the issue too far would worsen the conflict and possibly result in further Russian causalities.

Such caution, however, cannot be attributed to the USG and certainly not Israel. Bibi Netanyahu, the Israeli PM, said Bashir al-Assad and the Syrians were solely responsible for the attack.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

No such caution or diplomacy can be expected from the USG and its current loudmouth know-nothing president, Donald Trump. The death of nearly two hundred people is simply an excuse to whip up hysteria and push forward the covert war against Iran.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

First and foremost, when you read the “news” dispensed by the war propaganda media, you should assume, unless otherwise proven and verified independently, that what they say about Iran and the Middle East is nothing less than a carelessly and hastily assembled pack of lies, distortion, and omissions, all designed to destroy Iran and kill thousands, possibly millions of innocent men, women, and children.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

... The whole world felt a million miles away as I buried my head into the towel and closed my eyes, feeling the sun on my skin after a year in which it had been buried in mandatory hijab.

I was awakened by the angry voice of a stranger. Two revolutionary guards in fatigues stood over me, machine guns slung over their shoulders. I guess the Soviet Union was not that far on the other side. I threw a towel over my legs and ran to my mother’s side. They walked over, as amazed as we were stupefied. “Where do you people think you are, in the south of France?” the older one angrily demanded.

Trump Regime Blocks Iran’s Fars News.com

Blocking Fars News English-language website is part of the Trump regime’s war on Iran by other means, along with wanting truth-telling suppressed — how all totalitarian states operate.

I accessed Fars News.ir. It reported that the Trump regime’s Treasury department blocked its .com domain, its .ir domain still accessible so far.

The news service got international service provider notification that “the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has included the news agency in its SDN list and ordered it to stop domain services to Fars News Agency (FNA)” — a flagrant free speech and press violation.

FNA is trying to rectify the situation. It’s been operating under the registered name of Fars Press and Culture Institute.

I follow the site regularly for accurate reporting on major regional geopolitical issues, what’s unavailable from Western establishment media.

I also watch Press TV daily, follow its truth-telling website, along with Tasnim News, Mehr News, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the Tehran Times, and other Iranian sites — delivering English language journalism the way it’s supposed to be.

I strongly recommend avoiding the UK owned and controlled BBC, Qatar owned Al Jazeera, US public broadcasting and radio, the NYT and other print publications, along with what passes for television “news” in the US — all of it worthless rubbish.

Their mission is manipulating the public mind, filling it with mush, suppressing what’s most important, serving powerful interests exclusively, operating as their press agents — truth-telling on major issues banished from their propaganda reports.

Speech, press, and academic freedoms in the West are eroding toward disappearing altogether, dark forces wanting truth-telling journalism prevented from exposing the falsified official narrative — all propaganda all the time on major issues, especially geopolitical ones.

FNA reported that action by the Trump regime’s Treasury department flagrantly violates the UN Charter — the US Constitution’s First Amendment also breached.

In response to what happened, Tehran University Professor Mohammad Marandi tweeted:

“Will western media defend freedom of speech? Will they admit the magnitude and significance of the protests in Baghdad yesterday?”<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

“They will either remain silent or they will somehow justify the behavior of western regimes, as they wait for small pro-western protests to cling on to.”

Establishment media march in lockstep with ruling Western regimes on major geopolitical and other issues, their reporting notably hostile toward nations on the US target list for regime change.

A quick Saturday AM Google search found no Western English language reports on the blockage of FNA by the Trump regime’s Treasury department.

They’ve been one-sidedly hostile toward Julian Assange, Chelsea Manning, and others like them — supporting US high crimes instead of denouncing them.

Social media, Google and tech giants function the same way, operating as imperial agents, making them complicit in high crimes.

RT and Sputnik News reported on FNA’s blockage. Will they be taken down next?

In 2018, following Trump regime orders, Facebook removed Telesur’s English page twice without proper explanation — in January and August, unjustifiably saying:

“Telesur English (was) removed for violating our Terms of Use (sic),” adding:

“…Pages that are hateful, threatening or obscene are not allowed (sic). We also take down Pages that attack an individual or group, or that are set up by an unauthorized individual (sic).”<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

“If your Page was removed for any of the above reasons, it will not be reinstated. Continued misuse of Facebook’s features could result in the permanent loss of your account.”<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

In response at the time, I said the following on my FB page:

Facebook’s war on truth-telling took down Telesur’s page for featuring journalism the way it’s supposed to be – what its censors oppose, agents of dark forces running the US.

Anti-social media Facebook is a censoring machine, flagrantly violating First Amendment rights, unaccountable for its criminality.

They took down my FB page before because I refused to voluntarily delete an article they wanted removed.

They’ll likely take me down again, maybe next time permanently, wanting me and other independent journalists silenced.

They deleted a number of my articles and comments earlier, the way police states operate, wanting the message controlled, views contrary to the official narrative consigned to the memory hole, eliminating inconvenient truths.

“He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past,” Orwell explained.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

He who controls the message controls groupthink, suppressing dissent, manipulating the public mind to reach consensus with the official narrative, wanting an obedient submissive public – distracted by bread and circuses.

Social and other establish media operate as a collective Ministry of Truth. Controlling the message is the defining feature of totalitarian rule.

Orwell earlier explained that “(u)npopular ideas can be silenced, and inconvenient facts kept dark, without the need for any official ban.”

“Anyone who challenges the prevailing orthodoxy finds himself (or herself) silenced with surprising effectiveness.”<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>

“A genuinely unfashionable opinion is almost never given a fair hearing, either in the popular press or in the highbrow periodicals.”

Orwell’s remarks were before the television age, Internet and social media, dark forces today wanting control over their content.

They want state approved managed news misinformation and disinformation replacing truth-telling journalism.

Big Brother is no longer fiction. Dark forces watching us want views conflicting with theirs suppressed — their brave new world order unsafe and unfit to live in.
