More than half of all leave voters now planning to vote for Boris Johnson as lead over Labour expands
http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/sep/07/tories-extend-lead-over-labour-to-10-despite-chaotic-week

'The Conservatives have extended their lead over Labour as pro-Brexit voters return to the party, according to the latest Opinium poll for the Observer.

Despite a week of political chaos that has seen Boris Johnson purge the party of 21 MPs who oppose his plans, the Tories recorded a 10-point lead over Labour. For the first time since March, more than half (53%) of leave voters now intend to vote Conservative. Almost half of all voters (46%) now think the Conservative party has in effect become the Brexit party.

The polling will be used by Johnson’s team as evidence that their ruthless strategy to push hard to secure Brexit and hold an election can work. However, the strategy has run aground as opposition parties are blocking an election from taking place.

Anti-Brexit protesters decry Johnson's 'coup' in cities across UK

The Conservatives are up 3 points to 35% of the vote, while the Brexit party is down 3 points to 13%. The Liberal Democrats are up 2 points to 17%, with Labour down 1 point to 25%.

Opinium said there was a considerable amount of voter churn, with only the Lib Dems retaining an overwhelming proportion of their vote from the last election (83% of 2017 Lib Dems would vote for the party again). Both the Conservatives and Labour are on track to lose votes to the Lib Dems among their remainer wing and lose votes to the Brexit party from their leave wing.'

Angela Smith becomes third MP to join Liberal Democrats in a week

'Former Labour MP Angela Smith has joined the Liberal Democrats after three months sitting as an independent MP. She was one of the 11 MPs who left the Labour Party and the Tories in February to form the pro-remain Change UK group before becoming an independent MP in June.

Six MPs have joined the Lib Dems in the past three months, bringing the party’s total in the Commons to 17.

Welcoming Smith, Lib Dem leader Jo tweeted: ‘She’s the sixth new MP to join us in the last three months, along with over 30,000 new members. Together we can stop Brexit.’ The Sunday Times reports the Smith says both Labour and the Conservative Parties are ‘in the grips of extremists’.

Boris Johnson plotting scheme to render EU ‘no longer legal’ in desperate bid to escape Brexit trap
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/boris-johnson-brexit-eu-legal-prison-no-deal-brussels-latest-a9095976.html

'Boris Johnson is threatening to sabotage the EU to make it cave in on a Brexit deal – or reject MPs’ plan to stop the UK crashing out of the bloc.

In a dramatic escalation of its battle with Brussels, Downing Street believes it has devised a way out of the crisis to make the EU no longer “legally constituted”, paralysing its decision-making.

The extraordinary plan would see the UK refuse to appoint a commissioner, putting the EU in breach of its own legal duty for all 28 member states to be represented on its executive branch.

No 10 believes the UK would be “disrupting” Brussels life to such a degree that member states will then make it clear they will refuse to grant an Article 50 extension – even if asked for.

A source said: “We will turn the pressure onto the EU to show how difficult it will be for them if the UK is still hanging around.”

The aim is to force an acceptable Brexit deal, but the source added: “If they won’t negotiate a deal, it would be ideal if they would kick us out.”'

Brexit alliance: Nigel Farage to sacrifice election seats to support Brexiteer Tories

'A DEAL between the Tories and the Brexit Party to form an electoral Brexit alliance “is getting closer”, sources from both parties have told the Sunday Express.

The plan would see the Brexit Party pull candidates from Tory marginals where they are facing challenges from Labour and Lib Dem Remainers. In return, Nigel Farage’s party wants a free run at northern Labour seats where the Tories have never been able to make a breakthrough. However, the two parties are still divided over Brexit policy with Mr Farage keen to push for a “clean Brexit” with no deal and Boris Johnson claiming he still wants a deal.

Mr Farage has admitted he has no interest in challenging the Conservatives in seats like Lewes in Sussex which could end up in the hands of the Lib Dems.

Brexit: Boris Johnson's second attempt to trigger election fails

'MPs have again rejected Boris Johnson's calls for a snap election, as the five-week suspension of Parliament begins.

In all, 293 MPs voted for the prime minister's motion for an early poll, far short of the number needed.

Earlier, opposition MPs confirmed they would not support an October poll, insisting a law blocking a no-deal Brexit must be implemented first.

Parliament was officially suspended - or prorogued - just before 02:00 BST on Tuesday and will reopen on 14 October.

A group of Labour backbenchers protested against the move, appearing to try to block Speaker John Bercow amid raucous scenes in the House of Commons.

Signs saying "silenced" were held up by the group in front of Mr Bercow - who earlier announced his resignation - just as he was due to lead MPs in a procession to the House of Lords to mark the suspension of Parliament.

In a hectic day of political developments:

The prime minister suffered another defeat, as MPs backed calls for the publication of government communications relating to the suspension of Parliament and its no-deal plans;

Mr Johnson was warned he could face legal action for flouting the law blocking no deal;

MPs approved, without a vote, a motion from Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn demanding the government abide by the rule of law.

'Strive to get an agreement'

At present, UK law states that the country will leave the EU on 31 October, regardless of whether a withdrawal deal has been agreed with Brussels or not.

But new legislation, which was granted royal assent on Monday, changes that, and will force the PM to seek a delay to 31 January 2020 unless a deal - or a no-deal exit - is approved by MPs by 19 October.

BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg said although No 10 insisted it was not looking to break the new law, efforts were under way to examine ways of getting around it.

The prime minister said the government would use the time Parliament was suspended to press on with negotiating a deal with the EU, while "preparing to leave without one".

"No matter how many devices this Parliament invents to tie my hands, I will strive to get an agreement in the national interest," he said.

"This government will not delay Brexit any further."'

Brexit: Mr Speaker, John Bercow, pledges 'creativity' to stop no-deal

Brexit: John Bercow pledges 'creativity' to stop no-deal

'John Bercow has vowed "creativity" in Parliament if Boris Johnson ignores the law designed to stop a no-deal Brexit.

The Commons Speaker also said in a speech that the only possible Brexit was one backed by MPs.

A new law, passed before the suspension of Parliament, forces the PM to seek a delay until 31 January 2020, unless a deal or no-deal exit is approved by MPs by 19 October.

The PM has said he would rather be "dead in a ditch" than ask for a delay.

Delivering a lecture in London, Mr Bercow said: "Not obeying the law must surely be a non-starter. Period."

He said it would be a "terrible example to set to the rest of society"

"The only form of Brexit which we will have, whenever that might be, will be a Brexit that the House of Commons has explicitly endorsed," he said.

"Surely, in 2019, in modern Britain, in a parliamentary democracy, we - parliamentarians, legislators - cannot in all conscience be conducting a debate as to whether adherence to the law is or isn't required."

He called it "astonishing" that "anyone has even entertained the notion".

If the government comes close to disobeying the Act, the MP said that Parliament "would want to cut off such a possibility and do so forcefully".

"If that demands additional procedural creativity in order to come to pass, it is a racing certainty that this will happen, and that neither the limitations of the existing rule book nor the ticking of the clock will stop it doing so," he added.'

EVER SINCE this ridiculous topic was begun, it has been about THE POSTER re-inforcing his own delusions of influence and control he fostered at PPF.
Does 'The Betrayal' tell us more about THE POSTER than it does about the object of his ever meandering diatribes. Typical extreme most infiltrator.

If there is no Brexit, then THE POSTER shall be pro that outcome, and likewise in the opposite scenario.

The POSTER was always and remains an infiltrator of TRUTHER website forums, for instance PrisonPlanet.com forums, which has fortunately been taken down by the owners due to such NEVER TRUMP influence. This at least, did successfully stiffle THE POSTER'S influence beyond his bar-stool.

So THE POSTER is going to get his own back ... on here. Thing is, as THE POSTER has told me, and probably most of you, in PM's, that his working-class meritocratic career included that as a Genetic-Engineering lab tech. So, you see, he isn't very convincing when it comes to assuring that what comes to him naturally is in anyone's interest but his own.

London’s Khan Calls for Cancelling Brexit, Labour to Back Remain

16 Sep 2019

London’s left-wing mayor Sadiq Khan has said the Labour Party should back revoking Article 50, cancelling Brexit.

“We’re a Remain party,” Mr Khan said on the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show, claiming that once Article 50 is revoked, it could be “re-served” at a later date when negotiations with the EU are over — and after the British people are forced to vote again in a referendum on the proposed deal, with remaining in the EU as an option on the ballot paper.

Lib Dems' contempt for democracy as they pledge to cancel Brexit

'The Liberal Democrats have pledged to cancel Brexit if they come to power at the next general election.

Members voted for the new policy at their party conference in Bournemouth by an overwhelming majority.

Previously, the party has backed another referendum or "People's Vote", saying they would campaign to Remain.

After the vote, their leader Jo Swinson, said: "We will do all we can to fight for our place in Europe, and to stop Brexit altogether."

The commitment only comes into force if the party wins the election as a majority government.

Ms Swinson also confirmed that before an election is called, the Lib Dems would continue to work with other opposition parties to campaign for a further referendum, and to prevent a "dangerous" no-deal Brexit.

In his first speech at conference as a Lib Dem MP, Chuka Umunna - who left Labour over its Brexit stance - said it would give the party a "clear, unequivocal position".

He said: "This [policy] will stop this national embarrassment and enable us to focus on the things that really matter."

But former Lib Dem MP Simon Hughes had called on members to reject the policy, saying it would "take the focus away" from getting another referendum.

He said that as the first referendum was a decision made by the people, "it can only be the people who can reverse [it]".

The government says it is trying to get a deal with the EU so it can leave on 31 October - the current deadline agreed with the EU.

Home Secretary Priti Patel said the "entire machinery of government" was focused on securing that deal.'
