Was Ukraine’s Kerch Strait Provocation Made in the USA?

The Obama regime’s February 2014 coup in Ukraine replaced democratic governance with fascist tyranny in Europe’s heartland.

A Russophobic puppet regime was installed to serve US interests. On November 25, three Ukrainian vessels entered Russian waters without requesting permission as required.

They failed to respond to legitimate demands, forcing Russia to respond defensively against their hostile action.

The vessels were interdicted and seized, their crew members arrested for flagrantly violating Articles 19 and 21 of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Under a bilateral 2003 treaty, Russia and Ukraine have freedom of navigation rights in the Kerch Strait – providing defined rules are followed through the narrow waterway.

Requesting and receiving permission to sail through it is required. The same goes for all foreign vessels, wishing to enter territorial waters of another country.

Kiev acted extrajudicially, an indisputable fact, Russia wrongfully blamed for its action. Did the US-installed Poroshenko regime act on its own or on orders from a higher power.

The latter explanation is most likely. On November 16, nine days before the Kerch Strait incident, the State Department issued a statement on the “US-Ukraine strategic partnership,” saying:

“The United States remains steadfast in its support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders,” adding:

Pompeo and puppet Ukraine foreign minister Pavlo Klimkin created bilateral “working groups focused on security and countering (nonexistent) Russian aggression.”

Kiev flagrantly breached Minsk I (September 2014) and Minsk II (February 2015) agreements to resolve war in Donbass - likely on direct orders from Washington, wanting a perpetual state of war on Russia’s border, not peace and stability.

Key is the following US statement, “condemn(ing) Russia’s aggressive actions against international shipping transiting the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait to Ukrainian ports” - well before Kiev’s November 25 provocation.

No evidence suggests Russia obstructs or otherwise interferes with foreign vessels sailing through the Kerch Strait into or from the Sea of Azov - provided UNCLOS provisions and bilateral Russia/Ukraine navigation requirements are observed.

Accusing Russia of a Kerch Straight incident before it occurred suggests the November 25 provocation was perhaps made in the USA, maybe jointly orchestrated by the Trump and Theresa May regimes - their latest hostile action against the Kremlin.

Falsely accusing Russia of “aggressive activities in the Sea of Azov” on November 16 raises obvious red flags.

Did the Trump and US-installed Poroshenko regimes jointly plan the November 25 provocation? Or were plans made in Washington, perhaps jointly with Britain, Kiev ordered to execute them, knowing it had US/UK support and encouragement?

The State Department affirmed continued Trump regime support for Ukraine militarily. The illegitimate fascist regime is a dagger pointed at Russia’s heartland.

Ukraine and Syria are the world’s leading hot spots, flashpoints for potential East/West confrontation if neocons in Washington go this far.

A Final Comment

The State Department said Washington “look(s) forward to one day welcoming Ukraine into the (North Atlantic) Alliance - an unacceptable red line for Moscow, Putin earlier saying:

Membership to Ukraine and Georgia would be considered “a direct and immediate threat for our national security…and the reaction would be extremely negative,” adding:

“When the Soviet Union was withdrawing troops from Germany, we were told that Russians should know one thing: that NATO would never extend (east) beyond the German borders. Within two waves, it happened, despite our principal posture. Nobody gave a damn about our posture.”

Over a decade ago, NATO vowed Ukraine and Georgia would eventually be granted alliance membership.

Russia reserves the right to protect its national security by whatever means it considers necessary. NATO membership for Ukraine and Georgia would pose unacceptable risks it would take steps to counter.

Seized Ukrainian warships were armed beyond regular loadout & planned moving 'stealthily' – Moscow
https://www.rt.com/news/445975-ukraine-warship-combat-ready/

'Ukrainian ships that were seized last month carried more ammunition than usual, had guns in combat ready-mode and planned to 'stealthily' pass the Kerch Strait in violation of rules, Russian border and security officials said.

The three vessels were detained on November 25 after they spent hours in Russian territorial waters, ignoring requests of officials to stop. They were attempting to pass through the Kerch Strait from a Ukrainian port in the Black sea to the one in the Azov Sea, but didn't file the request that is necessary when navigating through a narrow and busy waterway, according to Russian authorities. Kiev insisted the ships had proper authorization.

Two of the vessels, gunboats 'Berdyansk' and 'Nikopol', were mounted with “weapons and ammunition exceeding the standard loadout,” Deputy Head of the Russian Coast Guard, Aleksey Volsky told reporters on Saturday.

Their “artillery systems were loaded and placed into combat-ready mode” when they met the Russian vessels, according to Mikhail Shishov, who leads the Investigative Directorate at the Federal Security Service (FSB).

Citing a document obtained on board one of the Ukrainian gunboats, Shishov said that the ships were given instructions to “concentrate the efforts on a stealth passage” of the strait that separates mainland Russia and Crimea.

Three Ukrainian sailors were wounded during the standoff. The FSB said on Saturday that all of their injuries were sustained from the pieces which broke off their own boat as it was fired upon by the Russians. “There were no direct bullet wounds,” the official pointed out.'

Fascist Ukraine Backed by US-Led NATO Might

Syria and Ukraine are the world’s top hot spots. Flashpoint conditions in both countries risk greater conflicts than ongoing ones in the Middle East and Central Europe, including near Russia’s border.

Washington’s imperial agenda bears full responsibility - wanting puppet fascist rule in Syria like its installed Kiev regime in Europe’s heartland.

Following Ukraine’s likely made-in-the-USA November 25 Kerch Strait provocation, the UK probably complicit, the Poroshenko regime terminated the 1999 Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership with Russia, effective April 1, 2019 - its latest shameless act, perhaps with more provocations against Moscow in mind.

In September, Poroshenko signed a decree the regime’s parliament approved on Thursday, Moscow notified about the move signifying nothing.

Complicit with the US, UK and other NATO countries, Kiev is militantly hostile toward Russia, waging intermittent war along its border with Donbass freedom fighters.

The November 25 Kerch Strait provocation was likely prelude for similar stunts to follow. Nothing will change as long as Ukraine’s US-installed war party runs things.

The terminated treaty affirmed a strategic partnership between both countries, sharing a common border, pledging to respect their territorial integrity, doing nothing to jeopardize each other’s security - an arrangement ending after the Obama regime’s February 2014 coup.

Until termination on April 1, 2019, the treaty was automatically renewed every 10 years. Poroshenko’s announced termination came at the same time legislation was drafted to declare war on Russia - with full US/UK support and encouragement.

On the day Ukraine’s parliament approved termination of the treaty, US warplanes conducted a provocative Open Skies flight over its territory, coming close to Russia’s border, showing support for the illegitimate fascist regime Obama illegally installed.

Separately on Thursday, Ukraine’s parliament passed Law No. 8519, recognizing NAZI era Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) and Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) as Ukrainian combat veterans - involved in “armed struggle for the independence of Ukraine in the 20th century…” Spam_A Spam_B A resolution was also drafted to designate Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera a “Hero of Ukraine.” He represented the scourge of Nazism in Ukraine and Central Europe.

Ultranationalists under him, allied with Waffen SS and other Nazi forces, were responsible for slaughtering half a million or more Ukrainians, Poles and Russians, many of them Jews.

According to historian/political scientist Ryszard Szawlowski, Banderites were unapologetic about genocidal crimes committed during WW II, their barbarity exceeding Nazi and Soviet atrocities - torturing and mass murdering with zeal, including use of excruciating methods to kill.

On Thursday, Poroshenko said “military units from the Ukrainian armed forces have been redeployed to the most dangerous directions along the entire line of our border (with Russia) in order to strengthen defensive capabilities.”

He lied saying Ukrainian forces need to be ready to resist a nonexistent threat of “large-scale (Russian) ground invasion” - falsely claiming Moscow intends to seize Ukrainian territory.

He urged US-led NATO to send warships to the Black Sea to confront Russia provocatively. He’s crazy enough to try anything, believing Washington will bail him out.

His declaration of martial law in areas along Russia’s border risks confrontation by accident or design.

Flashpoint conditions in Ukraine are hugely dangerous. It’s Washington’s call on far it may want to push things.

Given Trump regime hardliners’ rage for endless wars and dominance, anything ahead is possible.

UN assembly approves Ukraine-sponsored resolution on Azov Sea affair, with nearly half abstaining
https://www.rt.com/news/446735-unga-ukraine-resolution-azov/

The UN General Assembly has voted for a Ukraine-sponsored draft denouncing “militarization” of the Azov and Black Seas. About half of member-states abstained and Moscow said it’s like giving Kiev a blank check to scapegoat Russia.

Sixty-six countries voted in favor of the resolution and 19 against, while 72 countries abstained.

The resolution, brought forward by Ukraine, serves to accuse Russia of violating its sovereignty and territorial integrity by deploying military forces to Crimea. The document also accuses Moscow of restricting the freedom of navigation in the Azov Sea and condemns what Kiev sees as a similar ramped-up militarization in the Black Sea.

Before the vote, Syria and Iran proposed amendments to the resolution for more balance, which would have included a mention of the Minsk Agreements and Kiev's responsibility to abide by them. The agreements stipulate that both Kiev and the forces of the self-proclaimed breakaway republics in eastern Ukraine must observe a ceasefire, as well as withdraw troops and military hardware. Kiev also must ensure local elections take place in accordance with the law.

But the UN body rejected the amendments, resulting in what Russia has blasted as a one-sided resolution.

First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy pointed out the huge number of abstaining nations, “not wanting to have anything in common with the malignant Ukrainian plot.”

The UNGA vote sent a new, emboldening signal to Kiev, that “anything goes and everything will be pardoned, and Russia will be made a scapegoat.”

Still, the “deceitful” resolution will not change anything about the situation in Crimea or around it, the diplomat said. The real power to resolve the dispute lies with Washington, which has been pulling Kiev’s strings, Polyanskiy believes.'

US to give Ukraine extra $10mn for naval buildup in response to Kerch Strait incident
http://www.rt.com/news/447191-us-funds-ukraine-kerch/

'The US will provide $10 million extra in military aid to help Ukraine beef up its naval capabilities, the State Department has announced, days after a Senate resolution called for such aid in response to the Kerch Strait incident.

Russia was ordered to "immediately return to Ukraine the seized vessels and detained Ukrainian crews" involved in last month's naval provocation and to allow Ukrainian ships to freely navigate the Kerch Strait and the Sea of Azov in Friday's statement from deputy State Department spokesperson Robert Palladino. The financial decision was made "in solidarity with" Lithuania and the UK, which also plan to step up their funding of the Ukrainian military, he added.

The State Department's announcement follows hints from Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council head Alexander Turchinov that the country might send more ships through the Kerch Strait soon, despite the tension. If Ukraine doesn't flex its muscles in the Azov, Turchinov told the BBC, Russia might "legitimize the occupation of Crimea."

Not wishing to lose three more ships, Turchinov invited NATO along for the ride this time, explaining "It would be very logical if NATO ships which we invited [to visit] the Azov Sea ports make sure that Russia complies with international law."'

Gavin Williamson: UK ship in Ukraine 'sends message to Russia'
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-46657470

'A Royal Navy warship which has been sent to Ukraine will send a strong message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the UK's defence secretary says.

HMS Echo was sent into the Black Sea earlier this month, after Russia seized three ships belonging to Ukraine's navy and their crews.

Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson has visited the ship in the port of Odessa.

He said the presence of the British ship shows support for Ukraine in the face of increased Russian aggression.

It will be followed by other warships as part of a more constant British presence, he said.

There are increasing tensions between Russia and Ukraine over access to the area off the coast of Crimea.

Crimea used to be part of an independent Ukraine, but it was annexed by Russia in 2014. The Ukrainians say that Crimea remains their territory.

Mr Williamson paid a pre-Christmas visit to HMS Echo soon after it docked in Odessa on Friday.'

Ukrainian official invites British warship to cross Kerch Strait & see how Russia reacts
https://www.rt.com/news/447244-british-ship-kerch-strait/

'A deputy minister in Kiev suggested that the British Navy should send its warship to the Sea of Azov to test Russia’s response. Moscow described the idea as ‘bonkers.’

“When it is being said that Russia won’t allow the passage of a British ship, I have one remark – has anyone tried it?” Yuri Hrymchak wondered during a talk show aired live on a Ukrainian TV channel on Friday.

Hrymchak serves as deputy minister of temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons – a department tasked with facilitating the ‘future return’ of Crimea from Russia to Ukraine. He was discussing last month’s naval standoff near the Kerch Strait.

On November 25, the Russian Coast Guard intercepted and seized two Ukrainian gunboats and a tugboat. Moscow accused the sailors of trying to enter the busy strait, connecting the Black Sea with the Sea of Azov, while violating existing navigational procedures. In response, Ukraine accused Russia of unprovoked aggression against its vessels.

Since the Royal Navy hydrographic survey ship, HMS ‘Echo’ has no weapons on board, it is not bound by international regulations, which limit the activity of navies belonging to non-Black Sea states in the region, Deputy Minister Hrymchak argued.

“And it would be interesting to see how will [the Russians] would react if this ship sailed in a caravan” through the Kerch Strait, the Ukrainian official said. It is not entirely clear how serious he was about this idea.

Nevertheless, officials in Moscow blasted the suggestion as being out of touch with reality. It indicates “how dangerous the current regime in Kiev is for the world,” Russian Senator Frants Klintsevich said.

“This regime is descending deeper into a maniacal condition,” he added.'
